We are extremely proud to have been recognised as a Centre of Excellence for our hydrotherapy centre.

Since expanding the surgery last summer the practice has been extremely successful with the new hydrotherapy treadmill and rehabilitation treatments. “Our recovery times for post-surgical cases have been greatly reduced” says Caroline Richards, practice partner and vet, “we are achieving better and faster recoveries in orthopaedics and some great results in neurological conditions. The treadmill can be excellent in helping with recovering disc disease patients for example.”  The hydrotherapy unit is unique in the level of staff training, physical therapy, and equipment and it is these assets, as well as the extremely high level of hard work and patient care, that have led to the award.

We fought off stiff competition including two of the country’s vet schools, Bristol University and Glasgow University to win the award, which recognises the dedication of the rehabilitation team at Barnsley Vets4Pets. “It is a lovely recognition of the hard work we put in” says Caroline “and it helps to show everyone what we are about here, in trying to maintain the highest levels of quality veterinary care for all our clients. The attitude in the rehabilitation department is also reflected in everything else we do from our puppy training classes to orthopaedic surgery or complicated medicine cases.”

The treatments can be beneficial for elbow and shoulder OCD, hip dysplasia, arthritis, pre and post orthopaedic rehabilitation (as early as 10 days post operation), neurological cases such as disc disease or recovering paralysis patients, spinal, CDRM, muscle wastage, obesity especially with arthritis.

The hydrotherapy suite wasn't the only thing to come out of the expansion.  We now have a lovely new spacious waiting area, and extra consulting rooms too.

My dog Millie a cross jack russell with springer had her left rear cruciate done in September 2011, whilst I did all the massage that i was told to there is no doubt that the hydrotherapy helped her along amazingly, Mandy and Tanya are amazing nurses who genuinely care and Millie loved it. At her last check up before Christmas the vet was really pleased no loss in muscle and full range. Thank you Vets4Pets.
