Vets4Pets Erika Jones Surgeon Wrexham

Name:  Erika Jones

Role:  Veterinary Surgeon and Partner

After qualifying in 2005 I went straight into a mixed practice on the Shropshire-Powys border dealing with dogs, cats, cows and sheep.  After a couple of years, I felt that I wanted to focus more on the small animals, so I moved to a practice in Market Drayton.  I spent 4 and half years there in the small animal department and gained a particular interest in medicine and oncology.

Joining Wrexham Vets4Pets as a partner in November 2011 has been very exciting and rewarding.  The team we have here is very caring, and everybody is dedicated to their jobs and the animals we look after.  I really feel that we provide a friendly, professional and good value service for the pet owner, and the best possible experience and care for our patients too.

When I’m not at work, I live with my husband on a farm near Oswestry where he has sheep and beef cattle.  I love the countryside where we live, so in my spare time I enjoy walking with my dog, Dot.  I also enjoy cooking, and I skate for the Evolution Rollergirls roller-derby team based in Shrewsbury!

Rosie MacDiarmid Veterinary Surgeon Wrexham
Name: Rosie MacDiarmid

Role: Veterinary Surgeon

I qualified as a vet in 2006, having previously completed a BSc (Hons) degree in Zoology. I spent the first four years in mixed practice, initially in rural Aberdeenshire then North Wales.  I was then lucky enough to do some quite intensive training in Emergency Medicine and Critical care for small animals, and spent the next 18 months working in an out of hours practice.  This was exciting, rewarding and challenging in equal measures but I found I really missed having ‘regular’ clients and getting to know their pets better. I am incredibly happy to be back in day practice, and while we always hope your animal is well enough not to need us out of hours, doing our own on call lets me use some of those ‘emergency’ skills when needed!
At home, my poor partner takes second (or maybe 14th?) place to Springer Spaniel, Beetle, five gerbils, and eight (and a half) Exmoor ponies!! I spend most of my spare time trying to tire Beetle out and doing pony things. I also play the fiddle, volunteer at the lovely Ty Mawr country park and teach part time on the Animal Studies course at Glyndwr University.

Name:  Marian Addison

Role:  Veterinary Nurse

Hi, I’m Marian.  I’ve worked in practice as a veterinary nurse for 30 years.  I really enjoy surgical and critical care patients, and a large part of my role has been to help student nurses with their training.  More recently, I’ve developed an interest in dog and cat behaviour, and puppy development, and run clinics here at the practice.

Away from work, I have a busy time looking after my husband, three children and a house full of pets.  I have a beautiful German Shepherd called Ruby; also cats, guinea pigs and a tortoise.  Life is often hectic, but I spend lots of time in my garden, where I’m always joined by my four-legged friends!

I’m a member of my local church, and am involved with various charities and projects.  With such a full diary, there’s always time for family and friends, although I confess to sometimes demanding “me” time for relaxing, usually a hot bath and a good book.

I currently have one cat, Purdy who came to me from Cats Protection 12 year ago, she is now enjoying her new diet of Royal Canin Senior Stage 2! I sadly lost my beloved black Labrador Dan last year, he is sorely missed, but one day I hope to have another dog!

My other interests include anything creative I can get involved with, I also enjoy creating bespoke wedding and celebration cakes. I have recently decided to take up pet portrait painting again, so if anyone wants their best buddy immortalised please ask!

Name:
Elaine Griffiths

Role:
Practice Manager

I joined Wrexham Vets4Pets from a dental practice background so I was interested to see what it would be like to work every day amongst a veterinary team –I’ve been here since July 2012 and I can honestly say I love it!  Every day brings something new and meeting our clients and getting to know them and their pets is one of the best parts of the job.

I’m originally from Somerset but I left to study English and history at university in London before moving to North Wales in 1996, after meeting my husband.  We have 2 daughters, both of whom are desperate for us to adopt any strays that come in to the practice and I’m sure that it’s only going to be a matter of time!

Outside of work I love reading, cooking and spending time with my family, especially big family dinners and walks on Sundays!  I still go home to Somerset as much as possible to see my family there.
