Brexit and Pet Medication
Will a ‘No-deal’ Brexit affect my pet’s medication supply?
We envisage little disruption of veterinary medicines.
A ‘No deal’ Brexit does have the potential to affect some medications, which will be managed as more information becomes available.
This is because a ‘No-deal’ Brexit would mean that there are changes to the way some medications are authorised.
Veterinary medicines that have been previously authorised for veterinary use in the UK by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) will remain authorised. These medications will not be affected.
Veterinary medicines authorised for veterinary use by regulators in another EU Member State are authorised for use in the UK through mutual recognition. It is currently unclear how these may continue to be authorised in the UK in the case of a ‘No-deal’ Brexit.
