Meet the Belfast Stormont Vet Team

Belfast Stormont Vets4Pets Lisa Simpson2

Dr Lisa Simpson

Owner & Veterinary Surgeon

I was born and grew up in Dundonald and graduated as a vet from University College Dublin in 2005. I then moved to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne for an internship in a small animal referral practice. I worked at this practice for 6 years and ran a cat only clinic where I dealt with difficult cat medicine cases referred to me by other local vets. While in Newcastle I also worked for one of the busiest veterinary emergency clinics in the country before taking a job with Vets4Pets South Shields. It was while working here that Lauren and I decided to move back to Belfast and open our own practice.

I have always had a pet cat and have a real passion for feline medicine. I currently live with two amazing cats, two fantastic dogs and a very cheeky baby boy! If I have any spare time I love to bake and my friends and family are always asking me to make them cakes and cookies!

Dr Lauren Horton

Owner & Veterinary Surgeon

After graduating in 2006 from the Royal Veterinary College in London I moved up to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne to complete an internship at a small animal referral practice. On completion of the internship I indulged my passion for emergency medicine and critical care in one of the busiest emergency and critical care facilities in the UK. After working night shifts for three years I returned to general practice at Vets4Pets Sunderland where I continued to pursue an interest in small animal medicine and soft tissue surgery before deciding to move back to Lisa’s home town of Dundonald and open our own Vets4Pets.

For the past few years I have also been studying for a Certificate of Advanced Veterinary Practice in small animal medicine.

My home life is rather busy taking care of our two elderly Persian cats who need lots of TLC, our Chihuahua and Shih Tzu, who love to play and go for walks, and our son.

Belfast Stormont Vets4Pets Nichola

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Hello! My name is Nichola and I am a full time Registered Veterinary Nurse.

I qualified in October 2013 and have worked in busy first opinion and referral hospitals for the last 6 years. I enjoy all aspects of my job and have a keen interest in weight management, wildlife care and feline care.

Outside of work I enjoy rehabilitating injured and orphaned wildlife, eating out and keeping fit. Over the years I have rehabilitated hedgehogs and numerous birds. I have two cats called Dory and Stanley. I love cats! From housecats to Tigers and everything in-between. My favourite famous animal has to be Simon’s Cat. Dory is just like him.

I’m really pleased to be part of the Vets4Pets Belfast Stormont team. Everyone is lovely and the facilities are modern.

I look forward to meeting all the pets and their families.

Belfast Stormont Vets4Pets Lucy

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Hello, my name is Lucy and I am Registered Veterinary Nurse working part-time.

I qualified in 2007 from the University of West of England with degree in Veterinary Nursing Science and have been working as a nurse in various practices around England then moved to Northern Ireland in 2011. I have a keen interest in nurse clinics and medical nursing.

When I am not working I am looking after my young daughter who is a big animal lover so must run in the family! I have two beagles called Roxie and Peggy and enjoy taking them on long walks and to the beach.

I am really enjoying being a part of the new Vets4Pets Belfast Stormont team and look forward to meeting all the new pets and clients.

Belfast Stormont Vets4Pets Donna

Hi I'm Donna and I am one of the Receptionists.

I love animals but cats are by far my favourite. I don’t currently have any pets of my own so working at Vets4Pets and meeting all the fur-babies more than makes up for that.

I've come from a customer service background in a very busy store so I like that I can spend the time getting to know pets and their owners. I have also done some seasonal work handling cattle as part of grazing trials.

Outside of work I enjoy doing crafts most of which end up featuring cats, watching movies and writing.

Belfast Stormont Vets4Pets Lorraine

As a life long lover of all things furry (feathered and scaly too) I am delighted to be a part of the new Vets4Pets team at Belfast, Stormont.

I currently have three cats, two of which are feral, but I also love dogs and regularly walk my friend’s three dogs which helps me to keep fit.

I completed an HNC in Animal Management at South Eastern Regional College, Bangor, in 2014 and over the years I have gained a lot of experience in animal care by volunteering at Assisi Animal Sanctuary and, more recently, by working as a volunteer on a local farm where I was helping to look after a variety of animals including, cattle, sheep, goats, geese and chickens.

Working on reception I get to meet all the pets as they come into the practice and, although we have only been open for business for a few weeks, I am already on first name terms with all of them!
