Bristol Emersons Green Vets for Pets

I qualified and graduated in Spain, in Santiago de Compostela University in 2 and then spent time in America volunteering in several hospitals; subsequently I moved to England where I have been practising veterinary medicine since 2002. Firstly I worked for a large veterinary group in Yorkshire, eventually taking on a senior position at the main hospital; here I developed one of my two passions: diagnostic imaging, mainly ultrasound and endoscopy. My other passion is challenging cases of internal medicine: I love complicated cases that need lots of investigation, especially when it involves imaging. I also worked as a locum before taking a permanent position as Clinical Director at the Vale Veterinary Group in Devon; here I attended several courses on Western Acupuncture and I'm now able to treat pets with traditional manual acupuncture as well as electro-acupuncture. I stayed at the Vale until I recently decided to take on the path of Joint Venture Partner at Vets for Pets Bristol Emersons Green. Due to my love for cats we have qualified and obtained the status of a Gold Cat friendly practice with a special focus on them. We have special designed cat kennels (cat condos) that help cats to cope better with stress and recovery while away from their owners. We have also managed to become a silver accredited practice on the rabbit friendly vet list at RWAF, as well as we are a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons accredited small animal practice. My most recently passion is keyhole surgery and we have recently acquired the equipment and expertise to performed lots of new procedures using minimal invasive techniques. I have a great passion for pugs and I owned a cheeky pug called Pablo. It is thanks to my dad's love for dogs that I became a vet; I grew up surrounded by 30 dogs, cats, fish and budgerigars. My other interest, together with my husband, is the great outdoors, we love canoeing, cycling, climbing and our son Theo and daughter Alma love it too.

I am originally from just outside Glasgow and graduated from Edinburgh University in 2010. My first job was working with “all creatures great and small” in mixed animal practice in Northumberland, I then moved into small animal practice in North Somerset in 2012 and I’ve been part of the Vets for Pets Emersons Green team since 2014. I love the variety of small animal practice, no two patients are the same and it’s great getting to know the personality of all the pets we see. I really enjoy working with you to help our pets be as happy and healthy as possible.

My time outside of work is kept pretty busy with three young daughters and our selection of pets. A young Lab X Dachshund, Moray, 2 cats, Freddie & Maddie, and 2 guinea pigs, Blossom & Bluebell.

I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2011 which the observant of you will note is the same year as Joe and yes we have been friends since then. Since graduating I have worked exclusively in small animal practices but have bounced around a bit, working in Lincolnshire, Devon and Cornwall prior to ending up in Bristol. I have found a home at Vets for Pets Emersons Green though and have been here since December 2017.

I really enjoy the variety of cases that come in on a day to day basis with ophthalmology being an area of particular interest, but am happy with both medical and surgical cases. I have a Cocker Spaniel called Mabel so I guess you could say I am a dog person but variety is the spice of life and I enjoy seeing cats, rabbits and the various other species that come in.

Outside of work I am equally at home outdoors, walking the dog, paddleboarding or playing softball; or indoors watching films, trying to beat Joe at cards or discussing rugby down the pub with a good IPA.

I graduated from the University of Bristol in 2013 and spent 6 years as a farm vet in South Devon before spending a year in Norway doing small animal practice. I moved back to Bristol in 2021 and joined the wonderful team here at Emersons Green to be able to work with Carla, who had (painstakingly) trained me as a vet student.  I really enjoy all aspects of my job but am particularly fond of surgical cases and small, grumpy shih-tzus. In between cases, I also take pleasure in annoying my colleague, Phil. 

I am currently studying towards my certificate in small animal surgery and am very much enjoying the challenge of learning new skills.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time in the outdoors including paddleboarding, cycling, running and snowboarding. 

Originally from Spain, I moved to the UK  over 8 years ago. I previously worked in different practices outside Bristol until I moved to the lovely team Vets for Pets Emerson’s Green.

I have an special interest in internal medicine, imaging and dentistry. I enjoy working up complicate cases and learning from each of them.

I have always had cats since I was a child. Currently I am owner of two sister, Dotty and Flo,  that keep me occupied when I am at home.

In my free time I love being outdoors, either doing sports or taking care of my garden and allotment.

I graduated from the University of Bristol in 2022, and soon after joined the Vets for Pets Emersons Green team. Having enjoyed spending many weeks shadowing the team over the last few years, I was delighted to be able to joint the practice full time once I was qualified.

I enjoy seeing a wide range of cases but I am most excited to further develop my surgical skills. I also enjoy the continuity of seeing regular medical patients and interacting with their owners frequently.

At home I have a lovely long hair cat called Spice. In my spare time I enjoy travelling, going to the gym, seeing friends and exploring various restaurants around Bristol!

I graduated in 2019 in Dublin where I am from and have been part of the Emerson's Green Team since 2023. I enjoy the variety the job brings and meeting new pets and their owners each day.

In my free time I like swimming and playing with my cat Pesto.

Like many people who move to Bristol, I loved studying at Bristol University and have been steadily putting down roots in the area since qualifying as a vet in 2004.

As a newly qualified vet, I was keen to work in a mixed practice. My first job was at a veterinary practice in South Gloucestershire with a real diverse mix of cases; calving cows, examining lame horses, treating dogs, cats and rabbits.

After 11 years working as a mixed vet, I moved to a clinic in South Bristol where I focused on small animal work.  Having been at this clinic for several years, a decision to move closer to my home and young family resulted in a move to Emersons Green Vets for Pets in June 2024.  I feel that I have landed on my feet working with such a fantastic team with not only brilliant equipment, but a newly refurbished clinic too!

Every day as a vet is different – the job certainly brings great variety which supports my clinical interests in surgery, dentistry and ultrasonography.  Since joining the practice, I have particularly enjoyed meeting and getting to know the clinic’s lovely pets and clients.

Outside of work I indulge in my love of the great outdoors and sport which was instilled in me during my time playing rugby for England.  Since retiring from rugby, I have filled this void by taking up mountain biking, going on bike adventures and participating in racing.  I also enjoy sailing, skiing, paddle boarding and pretty much anything that gets me outside with my family.

I grew up in a small town in South Africa and qualified from Onderstepoort, the University of Pretoria in 2021 before moving across to Bristol in 2022. This is not the first time I embraced the change from sunny South Africa to the rainy UK, as I previously lived in Yorkshire back in 2014.

I enjoy the medicine side of vet-life with a particular interest in diagnostic imaging, clinical pathology, client education and patient care. When not busy looking after patients I enjoy travelling, hiking, staying active, reading and even baking.

I started working at Vets for Pets Emersons Green in November 2021. I started as a Veterinary Care Assistant and now have begun training to become a Veterinary nurse.

I have always loved animals from a young age. At home I have a dog called Buddy, 2 tortoises and a bearded dragon.

After completing a national diploma in animal management I went on to qualify as an RVN from the University of Bristol in 2010 . I moved back to Bristol from Hampshire in 2013.  Vets for Pets Emersons green welcomed me in 2017. I am lucky to be working with a fantastic team in a fulfilling career, we are constantly learning new skills and developing our interests within the veterinary field.

 I really enjoy anaesthesia and critical care.

Outside of work, I love spending time with  family, travelling and exploring new places. I have a wonderful supportive partner, we are both enjoying renovating our home together.

I moved from Devon for university; qualifying in 2012. I worked in a small animal practice in Cheltenham, but saw some farm animals and horses too!

One of my interests lie in exotic and wild species and I have volunteered at Bristol Zoo since graduating. My soft spot is definitely small furries, I love hamsters!

I also volunteer with StreetVet alongside Carla.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my toddler and partner.

I started working at Emerson’s green Vets for Pets as a student in 2017 and qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2022. I enjoy all aspects of my nursing role, I especially love inpatient care and dentistry. In my spare time I love going on dog walks with my miniature dachshund Dolly and spending time with my friends and family.

From I young age I knew I wanted to work with animals. After gaining my GCSE’s, I went on to college to complete a BTEC National Diploma in Animal Management which was based at Bristol Zoo. After working in retail for a few years I was lucky enough to land a position as an Animal Nursing Assistant at a small animal veterinary practice in Bristol. During my time at this practice I completed an Animal Nursing Assistant Certificate and trained as a Veterinary Nursing as an apprentice via a Level 3 Diploma. I finished my nurse training and qualified as a veterinary nurse in April 2019. After 10 years at my first practice I decided that it would be beneficial for me to experience working in another practice, and this is when I started at Vets for Pets Emerson’s Green. I enjoy most aspects of veterinary nursing, however I particular enjoy anaesthesia and critical care, medical and feline nursing.   

I currently share my home with my partner and our two children. In my spare time I enjoy going for walks and exploring nature with the family.

I’ve been involved in veterinary nursing for over 30 years, both as a nurse in practice as well as teaching and assessing students.

During my time in practice I have had the opportunity to work with a wide range of animals, from farm and equine, dogs and cats right through to birds, exotics and wildlife.

I joined the team at Vets for Pets Emerson’s Green in October 2020 as lockdown ended. Anaesthesia and surgery have always been my main interest but I enjoy all aspects of my work; there is something new or different to see every day. There are not many people who can say they love their job but I’m one of the lucky ones - I do!

Among my hobbies I like to make cakes – you may have seen some of my creations on the Vets for Pets Facebook page.

I’ve been working in veterinary practice since 2013 and qualified as a veterinary nurse from Bristol University in 2020. I have a particular interest in animal behaviour and after getting my degree I went on to get a certificate in feline behaviour. I am now working towards my Master’s degree in Clinical Animal Behaviour. My favourite part of my job is getting to know people and their pets in nurse consultations.

When I’m not working or studying I can usually be found cuddling with my cats Angelica and Eliza, playing on my computer or tabletop gaming.

I started working at Vets for Pets in 2021 as a veterinary care assistant and since then, I have been working towards becoming a registered veterinary nurse. I am now in my final year of training and hope to soon be qualified. I have always been keen to work with animals; I find my job very rewarding and love meeting all of the patients. I have a passion for exotics, which I have owned many in the past. I currently have a Corn snake and two Crested geckos.

I have been a qualified nurse since 2003. I have worked in both general small animal practice and referral practices.

I enjoy all aspects of nursing especially inpatient care and anaesthesia. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and two cats, Miss Boo and Professor Pickle.

I have been part of the team at Emersons Green Vets for Pets since we opened in 2014. After studying an outdoor adventure diploma I spent around 15yrs traveling the world running trekking and kayaking expeditions. My job role is mainly behind the scenes, making sure our fantastic dedicated team have everything they need to care for your pets. Although I do enjoy getting out of the office when we have caesarean in the practice. We have a lovely Pug called Pablo who loves cuddling up on the sofa! Outside of work, I don’t have much free time as we’ve 2 children, however I do enjoy family bike rides, climbing and planning future adventures.

I have been working here at Vets for Pets since May 2019, each day is full of variety. Even now I am still besotted with all the pets that come in to see us. I have an extreme fondness for any large dog, be it the tall and slim greyhound or the large and hairy newfoundland.

Outside of work I love try to and keep busy, especially if the sun is shining. Like many colleagues I enjoy getting out on the water with my paddleboard. I love spending time with family and friends.

At home my partner and I have a greyhound, who thinks he is a lap dog. He loves throwing around his toy pigs and cuddling up as close to us as he can, especially under a blanket.

I’m Jane or as my kids call me the crazy spaniel lady J

I started working for Vets for Pets in June 2021. My previous employment includes Pharmacy, GP surgery and southwest Ambulance Service.  So finally I have found my dream job working with an amazing team but most of all the puppy cuddles!!!  And talking to the owners, Oh I do love to have a natter or so I am told by the team.

I started working at Vets for Pets in September 2021, it was the best decision I ever made. Having puppy cuddles every day, it really is the best job ever. Being able to help improve a pet’s quality of life, really makes me proud to be a part of this team. One day I hope to have a German Shorthaired Pointer, as I have completely fallen in love with them. They are goofy and loveable just like me!

I started working here in August 2022, and I have been loving every minute. I’m a huge animal lover, and a bit of a crazy cat lady, so this has been the perfect job for me! Meeting all the cute pets and getting cuddles every day has been great, and it’s so rewarding to be part of helping them however I can, in even a small way. 

I joined Vets for Pets in February 2023. For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to work with animals. After completing my GCSE’s, I went on to study Animal Management at Filton College where I obtained my level 3 diploma. I then went on to complete my A levels. I knew at this point, I wanted to be a Veterinary Nurse. I was in my previous job for 9 years whilst I waited for the right opportunity to come along in the veterinary industry and I finally struck gold with Vets for Pets Emersons Green. After being a client for several years, I already knew some of the staff members so found it really easy to settle in to such a lovely and friendly team.

I’m still hoping to work towards Veterinary Nurse, for now I’m happy as a Client Care Advisor, engaging with clients and their pets everyday, feeling a sense of fulfilment everyday in this role is exactly what I look forward to each day. No day is the same.

I have a Bulldog called Ruby who is a regular at the practice, so I am a sucker for the Bulldogs that come in to see us.

I have always had a passion for animals and, following my degree in Zoology, I was really excited at the opportunity of working at Vets for Pets Emersons Green. I joined the team in January 2021  – I’ve gotten to help out with caesareans and handle some funky exotics and of course, had lots of puppy and kitten cuddles! I’ve only got a little tank of fish at the moment but one day hope to have a lot of reptiles, cats and dogs. Outside of work, most of my spare time is spent either sweating it out at the gym or meeting with friends at the local pub.
