Meet the Cardiff Newport Road Vet Team

Cardiff Newport Road Vets4Pets Rhian Bullock

Rhian Bullock

Owner & Veterinary Surgeon

I qualified from Ross University in New York in 2004 and have strong expertise in emergency medicine and surgery from working in specialist animal hospitals in New York and Florida. I have operated on everything from hedgehogs to Great Danes with procedures from simple vaccinations, right the way up to orthopaedic surgery.

I have also worked in general practice both in the US and back home – I have been locuming in the UK since 2010 and until I opened my practice here I was a permanent vet at a practice in Monmouth. I set myself very high clinical standards and always involve the client in treatment and their pet’s wellbeing. There is nothing that satisfies me more than well animals and happy clients. I have always been surrounded by animals since I was a small child. I currently have 4 cats and an extended family of dogs, which I enjoy walking through the beautiful Welsh countryside.

I joined Vets4Pets in May 2018 as a part time Veterinary Nurse. I had worked as a Veterinary Nurse for many years in the Cardiff area but stopped to run my riding school. I missed the Veterinary work so came back into the industry in 2017.

I have 2 children, a German Shepherd cross called Aslan and a cat called Roger who along with the horses keep me very busy in my spare time!

Claire Lewis

I’ve always been a massive animal lover and have known from a young age I wanted to work with animals. I have always been surrounded by a variety of animals growing up.

I started my nursing career in 2009 and qualified as a registered veterinary nurse (RVN) in 2013. I enjoy every aspect of my job especially the wide variety of patients and cases presented each day. I love nursing sick patients back to health and providing owners with advice about keeping their pet in tip top condition.

I have a particular interest in our feline patients, in the future I would like to pursue a further qualification in feline nursing or anaesthesia. I am also interested in caring for neonates and have hand-reared a number of litters of kittens, puppies and even a litter of mice.

I currently own three handsome male cats named Stinky Pete, Chester and Colin the Creature and a beautiful Irish setter dog named Scarlett.

I love working for Vets4Pets Cardiff Newport Road, everyone working here is a true animal lover and has every patients’ best interest at heart.

Jay Forrest RVN, BSc (Hons) Forensic Biology

Practice Manager

I joined the Vets4Pets team in February 2018 as Practice Manager. I have worked in the Veterinary Industry for over 20 years and have been a qualified Veterinary Nurse for 14 of those. I also have a degree in forensic biology and love all things laboratory based especially looking at bugs and bacteria! I still keep my hand in with nursing and I am helping to train two of our student Nurses.

I have a rescue dog Walter who is a celebrity in Vets4Pets as well as in the Pets at Home store due to him being rescued by the team in 2016, I also have a grumpy old Burmese cat Mungojerrie whose aim in life is to torment Walter. In my spare time I love walking with Walter and my family and camping in the Brecon Beacons.

I started working at Vets4Pets in August 2016 as a Receptionist. I am currently training to become a Veterinary Nurse which I am thoroughly enjoying.

I have a troublesome pair of ginger tom cats which are litter brothers and constantly keep me entertained.

In my spare time (if I’m not studying) I like to bake lots of unhealthy cakes and biscuits.

I joined Vets 4 Pets in 2014 as a receptionist and have now started training to be a veterinary nurse. I thoroughly enjoy working with animals and am incredibly excited about my future career.

I have always been an animal lover and grew up with Labrador Retrievers. I now share my house with three cats… Muppet, Stella and Patty (who was abandoned on my reception desk with her mum and siblings when she was just weeks old).

In my spare time, I enjoy hiking in the beautiful Welsh countryside and love adventure travel. Last year I made it to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro and have plans to see as much of the world as I possibly can.

Senior Receptionist

I joined Vets4Pets in October 2017 as a Senior Receptionist. I have had a varied work history including veterinary nursing in the late 80’s. I spent 20 years as a Senior Medical Underwriter for various Health Protection Insurance companies such as Aviva and now just want the quieter life working in an industry I love.

Outside of work I am rarely found at home and spend most of my free time out and about with my Border Collie ‘Teg’. Teg is a Trainee Search Dog looking for missing and vulnerable people in wild and remote places and also urban and lowland settings. We generally go everywhere together !! I specialise and instruct in Pet First Aid and have vast experience in positive reward dog training.

I started working at Vets4Pets in May 2017, as I have always wanted to work with a veterinary practice through my love of all animals!

I currently have two dogs; Bella; a beagle X and Brody; a whippet.

Ruling over those two I also have a two cats called Lily, Narla and a new kitten called Cleo.

I started working for Vets4Pets in May 2018. Having worked in the veterinary and animal welfare area for over 8 years, I have a wealth of experience in relation to animal care as well as customer care.

My passion for animal welfare includes fostering over 200 kittens, a handful of inexperienced fledglings and the occasional puppy.

Rescue Dog

I was rescued by Rhian and the team in 2016 and Jay the Practice Manager was lucky enough to become my Mum once I was all fixed up.

My main duties include dish washing, looking for treats, cuddling the staff and clients, hamster watching, looking cute and trying to pretend I’m not scared of Max the cat. At home I love walking, swimming and sunbathing.

Practice Cat

I have been running the practice since 2015. Due to my illness, I can’t be re homed so now I have the run of the surgery.

My daily activities include bossing the staff around, looking after inpatients and stealing lunches. My favourite things to do are snoozing, eating, playing with cat nip, and watching the world go by on reception.
