Struan Rafferty BVMS MRCVS

JVP& Veterinary Surgeon

I was born and brought up in Glasgow and attended Glasgow University Veterinary School. I graduated in 2004 so I have over a decade of experience in small animal practice.

After graduation I spent a year as an intern in a referral practice in Essex before moving into first opinion practice in London. I spent the majority of my time in London working for a hospital-based practice where my duties included looking after the Metropolitan police dogs of south London. After leaving London I worked for 2 years in Aberdeen running a branch practice for a large veterinary group. After leaving Aberdeen I spent a year working and traveling in Australia and New Zealand before returning home to open the Glasgow Forge practice. We have now been open for two years and the surgery is just continuing to grow and expand which has been great to oversee.

I live in Glasgow with my wife Sarah (we recently got married in Iceland September 2016). Also at home is my geriatric 3-legged rescue cat called Cheeky who features in the practice photos. We also have a handsome new addition to the family…a ginger rescue cat called Grettir (Icelandic name for the famous Garfield).

I enjoy the variety of small animal first opinion practice but I particularly enjoy discussing preventative health care with owners and dealing with skin cases. I am currently studying a master’s degree in ‘Advanced Clinical Practice’ part-time at the University of Edinburgh.

Veterinary Surgeon

I was brought up in Edinburgh but saw the light and went to vet school in Glasgow.I graduated in 2014 and now live in Glasgow with my husband and our whippet Arthur. I was a locum vet in England before starting work here and I've worked at Vets4Pets Glasgow forge since it opened and have enjoyed developing my skills while the practice grows.

I enjoy meeting you and your pets in consultations and have a particular interest in surgery. If I'm not working you'll probably find me making music, I enjoy singing, playing the trumpet and have started playing the oboe.

You might also find me arguing with a knitting project although Arthur likes to steal my balls of wool. Most often I can be found walking with Arthur or curled up on the sofa, Arthur does love his hugs!

Lorna Green RVN

Veterinary Nurse/Head Nurse

Hi, I’m Lorna, I have worked at vets4pets Glasgow forge since we opened in March 2015 and I am now head nurse, I love being part of the great team we have here. I started working in veterinary practice at the age of 16 and qualified in 1997, so I have many years’ experience. I have previously worked in charities such as Battersea dogs home and Woodgreen animal shelters and also in a 24 hour hospital in London where I gained a wide knowledge of emergency + critical care and medical nursing.

I swapped looking after animals for children for several years raising my own kids and fostering fourteen more. I have a menagerie of pets which include my german shepherd Dougie, my bearded collie Kerry (who’s in the photo with me) and Fred the cat.

In my spare time I work as a phlebotomist for the Pet Blood Bank and I am currently studying towards gaining my Emergency and Critical Care certificate and my Anaesthesia Certificate.

I look forward to meeting all your pets.

David McCurrach

Hi, my name is David and I have been with the practice as a receptionist since July 2016.

Many of our local clients recognise my face from the shop, as I previously worked for Pets At Home at the Forge for 12 and half years as an aquatics specialist.

As well as being a fan of fish, I love dogs of all shapes and sizes (particularly Cockapoos!). I like being creative in my spare time, and enjoy making all sorts of things from scratch at home.

I am enjoying expanding my knowledge of pets and pet health, and I love being able to get to know our clients and their pets better at the practice

Coleen Brodie

Hi, I’m Coleen. I have worked at Vets4Pets Glasgow Forge since November 2015. I work on reception, so I get to meet all our clients and steal puppy, kitten and bunny cuddles (such a hard life haha!).

Prior to this, I worked for Pets At Home, so it has been good to carry on learning more about our furry friends (and our reptile ones too – of course!)

At home, I have 2 cats (Molly & Gizmo) and two bunnies, Murray and Tony. I adopted Tony last year, as his owner was struggling to look after him.

Arthur Glasgow.png

Hello, my name is Arthur. I can often be found at the forge helping to clear up by eating all the leftover food and biscuits and shredding cardboard boxes. I can sometimes be found behind the Pets@Home till and I'm always happy to say hello particularly if you have biscuits.

When I'm not at work my favourite things are chasing tennis balls, long walks and even longer cuddles... especially if I can be under a blanket!
