Meet the Prenton vet team

Prenton Matt Pope Vet partner

Matthew Pope

Veterinary Surgeon and Partner

My interest in animals began at a young age; it eventually led me to study veterinary science at Liverpool University. I qualified as a vet in 1994.

Whilst I have done my share of large animal work I decided to specialise in small animal practice about 13 years ago. I have worked on the Wirral since 2001. I decided to open Prenton Vets4Pets in 2009. I was lucky enough to get a good team of people together from the very beginning. I wanted the practice to be welcoming to pets and owners alike and I think that is what we have achieved. The practice also offers good value high quality veterinary medicine and surgery.

Currently the practice takes up a lot of my time but when I am not working I like to be out and about, either walking or riding my mountain bike. In winter I generally get away snowboarding.

Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2014 and joined the practice in the December later that year. This is my first veterinary job out of university and it’s a great place with a great team where I can develop my skills as a vet. I especially enjoy the variety that comes with the job, every day is exciting and you never know who or what’s going to come through the door next.

I’ve got a terrier cross called Jack who lives at home in Lancashire with my parents, plus I’ve recently gotten into tropical fishkeeping. Outside of work I enjoy cooking and baking, particularly meat curing and bread making.

Veterinary Surgeon

I studied Veterinary Medicine at the Royal Veterinary College and graduated in July 2017. I have been working in a small animal practice since then and joined the team here at Vets4Pets Prenton in April 2018. It is a really supportive team and a great place to be practising.

My wife, Lydia, and I have a cat and two house rabbits at home. Outside of the practice I am involved in the local Church at St Stephens in Prenton and enjoy trying to spot animals and birds in the countryside.

Since graduating in July 2017 from the Royal Veterinary College, I have worked in small animal practice. I joined Vets4Pets Prenton in April 2018 and am thoroughly enjoying working with the great team and furthering my knowledge here.

I particularly enjoy surgery, and also working with “small furries” having grown up with rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils and hamsters amongst other pets!

At home, my husband Arron and I have a cat and two house-rabbits. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with the pets, cycling and being involved in my local Church.

Registered Veterinary Nurse

I joined the team here at Prenton in 2010 after graduating from Harper Adams University and completing my vet nurse training at a practice in Liverpool.

I love working with animals and enjoy meeting our lovely patients every day! I have some pets of my own, both big and small who keep me busy when I’m at home: Morgan – my horse who I have had on loan for the past four years, Jeffrey – my very naughty cat who acts more like a dog and last but not least, Howard my goldfish who made it all the way through university with me!

In my spare time I enjoy riding my horse, swimming and going on holiday.

My name is Melanie and I have been a registered veterinary nurse since Oct 2012, starting my training at Chestergates referral hospital in 2009. I love all aspects of working in first opinion practice, I have recently competed a wound care course. I was a professional singer and actress and have had the opportunity to sing with Westlife and The Drifters, in Disneyland Paris and in many pantomimes and musicals. I am now a member of Birkenhead Operatic Society. I have 2 terriers, Monty and Charlie and an old black cat called Mambo. I love walking the dogs, camping and travelling. I am also training Monty to start agility with WATS. I am really happy to be part of such a lovely, professional team here at Prenton!

I joined the team back in November 2012 and am currently a student veterinary nurse, which I find enjoyable and interesting. I have two mischievous cats called Olive and Elsa, who were both stray kittens. I would love to own snakes one day as they are my favourite animals.

I have been working here at Prenton since we opened on a snowy day in February 2009.

I have been working within the veterinary profession for 10 years as a receptionist. My furry gang consist of Molly (my gorgeously plump puss cat), Badger (my mud filled Border Collie), Corby(fat brown pony) and Jasper (my cow coloured traditional pony). They are all truly spoilt and take up most of my time (and money)!

Outside of work I enjoy horse riding and tractor driving! !

I have recently joined the Prenton Team. Prior to this I joined Companion Care nearly 10 years ago and worked previously at Cardiff Bay practice. I was proprietor of my own business so I have lots of customer service experience. In my spare time my passion is for my Bullmastiffs Scarlet, Gladys, Rhondda and Seven who I actually campaign at championship and international shows.

Client Care Co-ordinator

I joined Prenton Vets4Pets in February 2015, it's a great place to work with an incredible team, and I learn something new every day! I've been an animal lover since I was a child; I had a border collie for 18 years, and dog sit my friend’s pets when needed.

It's a privilege to help the animals that come into the practice in whatever way I can, and it's brilliant being part of the team that does this. I'm hoping to further my career in the future and hopefully train to become a veterinary nurse.

In my spare time I sing, dance and act. I love performing, spending time with family and friends, travelling and I'm a lover of sweet things!

I joined the team here at Prenton in December 2016 and I have not looked back since! I am elated to be part of such a caring and professional team and I endeavour to broaden my skills for our clients and give them the best experience possible. I have recently completed an End of Life Care Course within our practice which has given me a better insight in to the care and aftercare of our clients at such a personal time when pets pass away. I am the proud owner of 3 fur babies. Dixie my Border/Jack Russell Cross and Smudge and Sasha our much loved family cats.

Outside of work I enjoy cooking, the great outdoors and travelling in the UK and abroad.
