I qualified from Liverpool University in 2003. After 18 months in a mixed practice in Bedford I moved back to the North East where I spent a year travelling and locumming. I then joined a small animal practice where I became senior vet. In 2009 I started locumming again until I opened the Kingston Park practice in 2012. In 2016 I then opened the Gateshead practice with my husband Mark.

My aim for the practices has always been to provide excellent patient care in a friendly, approachable environment where we can help owners make an informed choice about their pet's care. We're very much a family run practice so set ourselves high standards of care for our patients, clients and team.

I have a very holistic view of veterinary medicine and feel that all treatment plans should be tailored to a patient. I've been using acupuncture for a few years and have an interest in chronic pain treatment.

My passions is horses and dog & cats, but also had my own flock of sheep all of which had names and brilliant cheeky characters, I was lucky enough to own a brilliant pony and horse, dogs, cats and various small animals sadly not many still around but still have brilliant memories.

I have been in veterinary profession starting my career in 1997 after I completed my equine qualifications and had fun eventing fabulously horses. I have worked in both mixed practice and small animal, gaining some great experiences along the way. I gained my clinical coach qualifications in 2003 to be able to mentor and coach the new generation of budding vet nurses.

I started working at vets4pets, and was able to start working towards a nursing qualification into wound management with the Veterinary Wound Library & BSAVA.

This is where my passion is in wounds and reconstruction of wounds. I have been lucky enough to have had some brilliant patients and owners [not forgetting them or it wouldn't be possible to help their pets without them,  there is so many of you I am very grateful to all of you for letting me do my thing]❤️

I completed my certificate in 2016 in wound healing and management. I then had the very special pleasure to be invited to become a Bandage Angel with The Veterinary Wound Library in 2018. We help advise and deal with all wounds and issues with them, to promote the best wound healing techniques and skills. We help train vets, nurses and practices in good CPD wound healing and advise them on the best course of action to get the patients healed and back to normal as quick as possible.

I have just started here at Kingston Park vets4pets and hope to continue my nursing and wounds interests and am looking forward to working with a new team of colleagues.

I feel very lucky to work with an amazing & caring team in both vets4pets and the wound library.
