Natalie O’Hara

Practice Owner & Manager

Natalie has been working within vet practice for over 10 years and has worked in both large and small animal practices. Natalie is a qualified animal nursing assistant and is currently studying veterinary nursing at South Staffordshire College. Natalie has a keen interest in nurse clinics and has a particular interest in weight management.

Natalie also enjoys stock management. Natalie is the cat advocate for the practice as we are a feline friendly practice. Natalie has two rescue dogs Monty and Petal. In her spare time she enjoys swimming, walking the dogs and socialising.

Melanie Patten

Practice Owner & Registered Veterinary Nurse

Melanie qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 1996 and has over 20 years’ experience in small animal practice. She holds the Diploma in Advanced Veterinary Nursing (Medical) and is also a clinical coach for Student Veterinary Nurses.

She enjoys nurse clinics, especially puppy socialisation. Out of work she is kept busy looking after her family, her 2 Collies, Joseph and Robbie and an elderly cat called Katy. In her spare time she enjoys agility training with her dogs and going to the theatre.

Fernando Lebre

Veterinary Surgeon

Fernando qualified from the university of Lisbon in 2011. Fernando is from sunny Portugal and came to the UK in 2016. Fernando previously worked in his home country once qualified and then moved to China to work in a small animal practice.

Fernando has a keen interest in internal medicine and clinical pathology.

Fernando has a Labrador called Safari. In Fernando's spare time he enjoys watching football and playing tennis.

Rachel O'Brien

Veterinary Surgeon

Rachel qualified from Liverpool university in 2012. Rachel has previously worked in Australia and across the uk. Rachel has worked as a locum vet at Chilwell Vets4Pets for about a year before deciding to become a permanent member of staff in 2018.

Rachel has a keen interest in emergency and critical care and is currently undertaking a certificate in this field. Rachel is a advocate of cat friendly handling and fear free treatment. Rachel has a rescue dog called Summer and in her spare time enjoys hiking and horse riding.

Laura Davidson

Veterinary Surgeon

Laura qualified from the Royal Veterinary college London in 2004 and has since worked in small animal practice.

Laura currently Locums in small animal practices across Nottingham but we are lucky enough to have her on a regular slot on a Monday and Wednesday and some weekends.

In Laura's spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and crafting. Natalie and Melanie have previously worked with laura so wanted to bring her into the team as soon as the practice was busy enough.

Sabrina Knight

Locum Veterinary Surgeon

Sabrina has worked at Chilwell since 2017 as a Locum vet and has previously worked with Natalie and Melanie while training to be a vet.

Sabrina qualified from Liverpool university in 2015. She is passionate about all things feline and is currently studying for a post graduate certificate in feline medicine. Once qualified she hopes to become advanced practitioner in this subject.

Sabrina has two cats, Keary a 10 year old tuxedo & Midna a 4 year old 3 legged lady who Sabrina rescued after a road traffic accident.

Steph Pepper

Student Veterinary Nurse

Steph joined the team at Chilwell in 2018, she is currently completing her veterinary nurse training at Bottle green College in Derby. Steph is passionate about working with animals and is looking forward to completing her veterinary nurse training. Steph has a rescue dog called Scruff, two ferrets called Stan and Albino and a polecat called Betsy. In her spare time Steph enjoys taking her dog out for walks by the river or in the country side. Steph also enjoys spending time with her family and going to the cinema.

Jen Pickering

Animal care assistant

Jen has worked as an animal care assistant since 2018 and joined our team in 2019. She has a keen interest in small furries and particularly rabbits and hamsters. Jen enjoys educating new rabbit owners in husbandry and care of rabbits and has a passion for animal welfare. Jen has two rescue rabbits custard and phoebe, in her spare time Jen enjoys speed skating and raising money for rabbit charities.

Laura Rocchelli 

Senior Receptionist

Laura joined Vets4Pets Chilwell in June 2017, she has over 7 years of experience of working as a receptionist and is passionate about client care. From a very early age Laura has had a real love for animals and has had a variety of pets over the years including hamsters, rabbits, chinchillas, chickens, cats, budgies, stick insects & giant African land snails.

Laura handles the clients insurance claims and is happy to assist you with any insurance queries.

She currently owns two shorkies called Dolly Doodles and Peppy Sparkle and two budgies called Spike & Storm. In her spare time Laura volunteers at chetwynd primary academy and is part of the school fundraising team, she enjoys long walks in the Peak district with her dogs and children and also enjoys watching movies and catching up with her friends in the gym.

Sandy Mckinnell

Receptionist

Sandy joined the team in 2018, Sandy has always wanted to work with animals and was previously volunteering for a animal veterinary charity which she thoroughly enjoyed. Sandy has owned a menagerie of pets over the years including budgies, guinea pigs, hamsters, dogs and cats but is currently looking for a feline friend.

Sandy assists Laura with client insurance claims and is happy to help with any insurance queries.

In her spare time Sandy enjoys the outdoors walking and cycling, Sandy even cycled from Whitehaven to Sunderland! She also enjoys eating out and socialising with friends.

Kelly Martin

Receptionist

Kelly has worked as an auxiliary nurse within vet practice for over 20 years, and she enjoys meeting the clients and their pets of all shapes and sizes. She is passionate about animal welfare and currently works full time at the Dogs' Trust rehoming centre.

She has 3 dogs of her own: 2 black Labradors and a French bulldog puppy as well as 2 grown up daughters. In her spare time (which isn’t very much!) she enjoys walking her dogs and spending time with friends and family. Kelly has previously worked with Melanie and Natalie and helps out on the reception at weekends.
