Vets4Pets Preston Capitol

Meet the Preston Capitol vet team

Thomas Hindley MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon and Practice Partner

I have worked at Preston Capitol as a vet since it first opened in November 2013. I grew up on my parent’s farm in South Africa and this is where my love for animals began. I studied at the University of Liverpool, graduating in 2011 with honours in Veterinary Conservation Medicine.

I own two dogs and one rabbit and love nothing more than taking my two dogs Dylan and Marlowe for walks along any available beach. I enjoy seeing the journey shared between pet and owner and have special interest in internal medicine and orthopaedics.

Outside of work I relish the opportunity to go cycling or running in the countryside followed by a trip to the pub or a nice café.

Andrew Harrison

Veterinary Surgeon & Partner

James Rogerson

Practice Manager & Partner

I joined Preston Vets4Pets Ltd during our opening month of March 2009 whilst I was still teaching full-time (Performing Arts in case you couldn't already tell)! Having being invited by Andrew to take on the role as Practice Manager, I joined the team without hesitation hungry to take on a new challenge and to be closer to the shops! My background is highly varied and I've probably had every job you could think of during my "resting actor" days; based on those experiences I witnessed some diabolical examples of customer service and I always swore to deliver nothing but exceptional customer care.

Our priority here at Preston Vets4Pets is to make every visit as stress-free and as pleasant as the last and if you ever feel we fall below this standard then please contact me on my personal email at

When I'm blessed with a day off, I can often be found stroking, feeding, cleaning and stroking my 10 cats a bit more, playing bingo with the Mother or taking myself off to the latest musical (if not starring in it).

I look forward to my next chat with you at reception over a brew - and if you fancy bringing me something a little special, I've taken an extra fancy to Spicy Teriyaki Deli Chips from the Booths store in Penwortham! Chow for now.

Simon Johnson

Head Nurse

Hello! I’ve been here since we opened back in November 2013! I started as a Receptionist and now have qualified as a registered veterinary nurse (RVN) and have become Head Nurse. I love my job and focus a lot of my time developing our students and helping them achieve their goals.

I have gained my CA-SQP qualification, meaning I am able to prescribe certain medication to your furry and feathered friends. I’ve also gained a certificate in feline friendly nursing. I hope to go and gain my advanced nursing qualification next, as well as specialise in emergency critical care and exotic species.

I have two cats, a white furry monster called Zelda who has one blue eye and one green eye and a three-legged monster called Skip. See you all soon! :)

Finance & Client Services Manager

Hello, I am the Finance & Client Services Manager. I have worked at Vets4Pets since Sept 2018 following 15 years in Management with Pets at Home. I worked as a Veterinary Nurse 20 years ago and have been keen to move back into the Veterinary field, so I was delighted when the opportunity arose, and I look forward to meeting you and your gorgeous pets.

I have 3 rescue pets of my own, Finn the Black Lab, Ruffles the Guinea Pig and Sherbert the Degu. I also have teenage twin daughters, so my 'spare' time can be hectic but exciting.

Rachael Cummins

Client Accounts Manager

Hello, I work on reception both at Preston & Preston Capitol Vets4Pets as a Client Accounts Manager. I have worked for Vet4Pets for a couple of years now and really enjoy working across two clinics, it allows me to meet so many different clients and their pets. It amazes me how every day is always so different and varied. I also love the wide variety of pets we see and this can range from dogs to snakes.

I have two dogs named, Max and Daisy and also a cat called Rio. In my spare time I love to take my dogs out to the beach and they also love to come camping with me and my family in the summer, however in winter I couldn't think of any thing better than curling up with a good book and a nice glass of wine enjoying a snuggle from my pets.

Anna Hindley

Hi, I graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2011 alongside Tom. I worked briefly for charities in India and South Africa after graduating and have worked in small animal practice in Lancashire since. I enjoy soft tissue surgery and parasitology, and I am currently working towards a dermatology certificate in advanced veterinary practice. I have two dogs, a horse, a rabbit and a tortoise and outside of work I enjoy horse riding, hockey, netball and running.

Veterinary Surgeon

I started working here, as a veterinary surgeon, in July 2018 after graduating from the University of Liverpool. I enjoy the close-knit community within the practice and love working alongside our RVN’s and VCA’s.

Outside of work, I love to spend time with my Border collie, Kiwi and going home (to Yorkshire) to spend time with my family. I also have two cats (Pandora and Tico) and a hamster (Chess).

Jennifer Brundrett

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Hello, I am one of the Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) here at Preston Capitol Vets4Pets. I knew I wanted to become a veterinary nurse at a young age after having taken my rabbits into a clinic to find out how best to care for them. Whilst in high school I decided to undertake work experience in a local practice to broaden my knowledge on what a nurse role is and it certainly opened my eyes.

I got a place at Myerscough College in 2013 doing the 3-year foundation degree course which I qualified from in July 2016. I continued my studies in order to work towards a Bsc (Hons) degree in Veterinary Nursing which I qualified from in July 2018. I am also a clinical coach for student veterinary nurses (SVN) which consists of helping them gain both practical and theory based skills that they will need to sit their practical examinations.

I have a cross breed dog (Cavapoo) called Bobby and two rats called Squeak and Scabbers. In my spare time I love spending time with friends and family, long walks with my partner and watching horror films.

Chloe Walmsley

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Hi, I'm Chloe and I am a Registered Veterinary Nurse. I wanted to be a Veterinary Nurse since the start of high school as I grew up with a wide range of pets, from small furries , chickens to a horse. I started here at Vets4Pets in 2014 as a work experience student and then continued as a Student Veterinary nurse in 2015. I qualified in July 2018 with a keen interest in canine and feline nutrition. I love my job and enjoy all areas of my role!

When I am not working I love to do some arts and craft, reading and off course watching the latest movie in the cinema, especially if its a marvel film. Although I don’t have any pets of my own I love coming into the practice and caring for all your little ones! I hope to hear from you soon, Chloe.

Olivia Bond

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Hello, I recently joined the team in October 2018 as a Registered Veterinary Nurse. I have a range of experience from from working in a pet shop as a nutrition consultant to working in zoos. I have keen interest in nutrition and exotic species, and after joining the team I hope to expand my knowledge and skills to help give all animals the best quality care and advice to all pet owners.

In my spare time I love walking on the beach or in the countryside with my mad cockapoo, Milo, or taking time to socialise and travel with my friends and family.

Sam Fisher

Client Care Advisor

Hi, I’m Sam, I started out on reception as a client care advisor but I am now training to be an animal nursing assistant too. As well as meeting and greeting the clients and their pets on reception which I adore, I now get to cuddle and care for the pets which stay with us for the day.

My responsibilities as an ANA are to assist the vets and nurses by keeping theatre and prep clean and tidy, setting up kennels and equipment for the animals in our care and monitor them before, during and after their treatment or procedure to make sure they get the best care possible while they are with us and assist the vets, nurses and reception throughout the day.

At some point in the future I would like to specialise in animal hydrotherapy, helping to rehabilitate and exercise dogs and cats who require this specialist treatment but for now I love being part of the team here at capitol with all the joy and challenges it brings.

My spare time is spent with my Husband and Daughter and our pets, who are Mika and Tink , our cats, Monty, our royal python, Buddy , our jack russell and Chilli, our goldfish… Being a family that consists of more animals than people is just the way we like it!

I love my work and enjoy being part of the Capitol family so much and getting to know our clients and their furry and not so furry little friends is the best part of my job.

Lauren Calvert

Client Care Advisor

Hi, I’m Lauren and I work on reception as a Client Care Advisor and I am also a trainee Veterinary Care Assistant. I have been working here since May 2018 and my ultimate goal is to become a Registered Veterinary Nurse. I will be starting my training in September 2019 with Myerscough College.

Working with animals is my passion and I feel so blessed that I get to do something I love, every single day! I cannot wait to progress, expand my knowledge and make a difference to the lives of animals! Ever since I was little, this is something that I have wanted to do and I am lucky to finally be on the right path for my future!

I have two Shih Tzus at home called Lenny and Leo who I adore, so be sure to ask me about them next time you see me.

Emma Pemberton

Client Care Advisor

I am a Client Care Advisor at Vets4Pets Capitol and have been working here since June. Previous to this I was at the Moor Lane practice for a year doing work placement alongside my Animal Management course at Myerscough College.

My long term goal is to become a Registered Veterinary Nurse. I have recently started my training to be a Veterinary Animal Care assistant, and then moving on to my nursing in September 2019.

Since a child I always adored animals. I was the kid that wanted to pick the frogs up in the garden or save the injured bird and constantly nagging my parents for a puppy. As a family we have fostered for Dog's Trust and had a number of dogs come and go. However, there was one dog we couldn't let go of, and that's the handsome boy in the photo. Sir Winston, the beautiful Old Victorian Bulldog.

I am grateful to be working alongside a wonderful team, and have the opportunity to progress in a career that I'm passionate about and excited for the future.

Karisse Barratt

Student Veterinary Nurse

I am currently in my second year of training hoping to qualify next year.

I have always had a passion for animals and wanted to work with them which led me to a degree in animal welfare and behaviour. Once I had completed this, I began carrying out work experience at the practice to gain more knowledge in veterinary nursing, which I love and have never looked back since!

I have a dog named Daisy who is a year old and full of energy! I enjoy taking her for walks at the weekend and exploring new places.

Paige Moneypenny

Student Veterinary Nurse

Hi, my name is Paige and I am a student veterinary nurse (SVN) at Preston Capitol Vets4Pets. I have been part of the team since September 2017 doing block placements and I am learning so much every day. I got accepted on to the FdSc Veterinary Nursing Degree course in September 2017 and I am hoping to graduate in 2020 as a qualified RVN. Once qualified, I hope to specialise in Oncology which will allow me to gain more knowledge and use the nursing skills I now know to give patients the best possible care.

I have a Labrador called Harvey who is 3, a rabbit who is 4 called Smudge and a rat called Ace who is nearly 2. In my spare time I enjoy music and socialising with friends and family.

Katie Claydon

Student Veterinary Nurse

Hi, I’m Katie and I am a student veterinary nurse at Preston Capitol Vets4Pets. I have been working here since February 2017 and I love it! My role involves me splitting between assisting the vets and nurses and also working on reception. I really enjoy my role as it is very flexible and each day is different and consists of so many different things! I started my Nurse training in January 2019 so that I can become a Registered Veterinary Nurse.

I have lots of animals at home; three cats Hugo, Tizzy and Saffron. Two guinea pigs, Hodor and Podrick, and an African pygmy hedgehog named Fleur.
