Helen Trory Bsc BVSc MRCVS

Practice Owner & Veterinary Surgeon

My name is Helen and I am the partner York Vets4Pets. I have a son called Lewis. We have a Border Terrier called Ruby. I graduated from Liverpool in 2004 having previously completed a degree in Animal Science at Leeds University. I initially worked in a mixed practice and then small animal only practice and I moved to the York area in 2013.

I wanted to be a vet from the age of 9 and I am so excited to being able to run my own practice here in York. I will aim to provide the best possible level of client and patient care in our lovely new purpose built practice. We will offer continuity of care and we will always aim to work as a team with our clients to make the right decisions for their pets.

My team and I will always answer any questions you may have as honestly as we can, so you can make informed choices about your pets care. We will strive to provide a friendly, value for money, professional service and treat each pet as if it were our own. We are all looking forward to meeting you and your pets.

Outside of work my time is spent being a mum. We like to try and get out and about into the lovely Yorkshire countryside with the dog as much as we can. I also love baking when I get the chance!

Gemma Cliffin MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Hi I'm Gemma and I'm one of the vets here at Vets4Pets York.

My ambition from a very early age was to become a vet and I graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2014, having previously completed a degree in Bioveterinary Science (also at Liverpool).

I am originally from Surrey but my family now lives in Cumbria which is where I first met Helen. I have a cat named Mango and a Golden Retriever named Amber, as well as several chickens and some tropical fish.

In my spare time I enjoy cooking, baking and gardening, as well as walking in the North York Moors and Lake District fells with Amber. I love working with our wonderful team at Vets4Pets York and caring for all your lovely pets.

York Vets4Pets - Sophie Redfern.jpg

Sophie Morgan MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Hi, my name is Sophie and I'm one of the vets at York Vets4Pets. I'm so pleased to be joining Helen and the rest of the team.

I originally trained as a Medicinal Chemist and after a career change graduated from The University of Liverpool in Veterinary Science. It was the best decision I ever made! I particularly enjoy the surgical side of my job. It can be quite challenging at times, but extremely rewarding.

I have just relocated to York with my partner and we have a budgie called Joanie. If I had my way, the house would be full of pets but my partner is horribly allergic so I have to get all my animal cuddles in at work and with my families pets.

In the picture is Bernard, my sisters Shar-Pei.

Becky Robinson MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Before going to vet school I studied agriculture and animal science at Harper Adams, then went on to fulfil my life long ambition to train as a Veterinary Surgeon at the Royal Veterinary College in London.

I have spent my first three years in practice as a mixed vet and have recently decided to specialise in small animal practice.  In particular, I have a strong interest in the emergency and critical care of small animals and I am incredibly excited to join the night vet team at Vets4Pets York.

In my spare time, I have my hands full with my three dogs - otter, kipper and ghillie; two guinea pigs and ferret. My partner and I are busy DIYing our first home together.

Jody Lam.png

Jody Lam MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

I’m Jody Lam and after almost a year of regular locum days at Turner Close I have decided to officially join the lovely team of staff here. I appreciate so much that everyone here works hard and consistently strives to do their best for our patients within a fun and supportive environment.

I graduated from Cambridge University in 2003 and have had a really interesting and varied career so far. I have worked solely in small animal practice since 2013 including at another Vets4Pets in Liverpool. I was brought up near Pickering and was delighted to move back to the area in 2015; my husband is adapting to life in Yorkshire pretty well. I enjoy all aspects of veterinary work, including consulting and surgery. I became interested in acupuncture for animals when I tried it on my elderly Labrador Lucy-dog and was amazed by the results. I did the introductory course with the Association of British Veterinary Acupuncturists in 2013 and have treated many animals since. Initially these were just for lameness and arthritis but as I see the systemic effects of this treatment I am keen to expand into treating other cases. In line with this approach of working alongside traditional veterinary treatments I have become interested in bee and aloe vera products and how they too can benefit the health of our patients.

I have 2 young children aged 2 and 5 so life is pretty full. We have 2 dogs, a cat, a horse and have just acquired a guinea pig and some pond fish with our new house! In my spare time I enjoy walking the dogs and/or riding my horse in our beautiful countryside and I also do yoga whenever I get the chance.

Helen Mackinder

Veterinary Surgeon

My name is Helen and I graduated from Liverpool University in 2005. After starting out in mixed practice I have concentrated on small animal work for the last 9 years. I enjoy all aspects of my job but have developed a particular interest in emergency and critical care medicine and surgery and I am very pleased to be joining the dedicated night team here at York Vets4Pets.

Outside work I enjoy swimming, and walking our Springer Spaniels, Peggy and Mabel, with my husband Joe and our 2 young children. We also have a fabulous cat called Freddie, who has been a veterinary challenge all his life!

Erin York.png

Erin Lyall

Veterinary Surgeon

Hello! My name is Erin and I have recently graduated from the University of Glasgow – my home town. It has been my lifetime ambition to become a Veterinary Surgeon, and I am sure my friends and family will vouch for this, having seen me own a menagerie of pets from the tender age of 3, including hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits and dogs! I’m extremely passionate about small animal medicine and surgery and I am hugely looking forward to the challenges the profession presents.

Having only just moved to York, I have recently spent a fair bit of time exploring and familiarising myself with the area. I think it is a really beautiful city and am very much looking forward to learning more about it – if you have any recommendations they are more than welcome! I also enjoy visiting home and spending time in the great outdoors walking my two gorgeous Labradors Mia and Orla who don’t really care whether its hail, rain or shine. I have a keen interest in travelling and have visited some wonderful places such as India, Singapore, Italy, Bali, Hong Kong and Iceland. I am very excited to be joining Helen and the rest of the team and look forward to meeting you and your pets.

Rebecca Fletcher

Veterinary Surgeon

Hi my name is Becky!

I grew up in Yorkshire, not far from Herriot country, which is where my love for animals began. Shortly after graduating from Liverpool university, I travelled and worked in Australia, but my love for Yorkshire soon pulled me back and I returned to my home town of York!

I joined Vets4Pets in 2016 as I have a love for small animal medicine and I am particularly interested in emergency critical care. When not at work, I'm a bit of an adrenaline junkies, my passions are surfing, skiing and mountain biking. I'd love to be able to kite surfing but I'm not very good at it ....... (Yet) I also have a cat called jasmine, who I rescued in 2015, she's quite a little diva ....!

Christine Viney

Veterinary Surgeon

Hi, I’m Christine, one of the vets at Vets4Pets in both York and Selby. I graduated from Cambridge University in 2017. I then decided to do something a bit different and spent 6 months travelling and working as a vet in New Zealand. It was an amazing and probably once in a lifetime opportunity. I’ve now settled back into life in the UK and after spending a year working in a mixed practice in North Yorkshire I have made the move to small animal practice. I’m excited to be joining the teams in both York and Selby.

In my free time I enjoy playing cricket, singing in choirs and hiking. I’m always up for anything involving adventure, travelling, sport, and generally being in the outdoors. In the photo is Buttercup, one of the friendly cows I got to know during my time at vet school!

Rosie Cascone

Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College London in 2005. I've always worked with small animals (dogs/cats/rabbits/small furries) and have worked in every area of practice from traditional on-call, to running an emergency clinic, back to traditional practice before coming to York Vets4Pets.

I started working here as a locum, and liked it so much that when Helen asked if I wanted to stay permanently, saying 'yes' was an easy decision. I honestly enjoy every aspect of being a vet, but my favourite parts are emergency and critical care, soft tissue surgery, cardiology, and treating dental problems. I find it really satisfying taking a really sick pet and returning them home wagging (or purring or nose twitching!).

Outside of work I am mum to a lovely eight-year old daughter, and we also have a spaniel, two hamsters, two fish and about fifty water snails that just keep reproducing! In the little time I have left I really enjoy fitness and writing fiction.

Molly Pinkney

Veterinary Surgeon

Hello! I'm Molly, nice to meet you all! I joined Vets4Pets in August and have become a member of the night team. I graduated from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Budapest in 2016 and was so happy to move back to York after 5 years abroad.

I have a particular interest in Emergency and Critical Care and Soft Tissue Surgery. Night work is the ideal place for me as it encompasses both of these fields.

Outside of work I enjoy pottering around my tiny garden, cooking for family and friends and going to the gym. I have two cats that I brought back from Hungary with me, and two naughty little rats.

I'm so happy to be a part of Helen's lovely team and hope I can provide you with help and reassurance when you need it the most.
