Barnsley Hospital Vets4Pets

My name is Peter, and I am one of the veterinary partners at Barnsley Vets4Pets. I’ve been a vet for over 20 years, starting work in Hull before moving first to Clitheroe, then to Barnsley in 2002, where, Caroline and I started the practice in March 2002. I completed my Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice last year along with a Postgraduate Certificate in Veterinary Professional Studies. I enjoy orthopaedic surgery with a particular interest in knee surgery.

My name is Caroline, and I am one of the veterinary partners at Barnsley Vets4Pets. Pete, my husband, and I opened the practice 16 years ago and we have grown in size and service levels ever since. The practice turned into a hospital providing 24 hour care over 4 years now. We have 55 team members in the hospital, with very talented people who are very passionate about the care they provide to our patients. In work I am very involved with the running of the hospital from marketing to recruitment, but my real passion lies with surgery. I love to operate in the theatres and I have carried out postgraduate studies and exams to advance my knowledge in endoscopy - keyhole surgery. Just like in human medicine, we are continually finding ways to reduce the trauma of surgery, using small incisions and more pain free techniques through endoscopy. I love being at the front of these dances in surgery, and it means I can offer more pain free surgery options to my patients. Some examples of where I regularly use endoscopy are: laparoscopic ovariectomy (lap spay), arthroscopy (looking in joints), cystoscopy (looking in the bladder), rhinoscopy and tracheostomy (looking in the nose and lungs). I will also use a flexible scope to look at the upper and lower gastrointestinal system. I am very lucky that I feel like my job is the best job in the world, and I am very privileged to work with lovely people and lovely animals every day.

My name is Viktor and I am the senior night vet and out of hours manager at Barnsley Vets4Pets. I joined here in 2013 when the out of hours service was first established. I enjoy all aspects of my job but have a particular interest in emergency work.

My name is David and I am one of the veterinary surgeons at Barnsley Vets4Pets. I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) in 2010 and have worked at Barnsley since 2015. I enjoy all aspects of my job, from consulting and meeting lovely animals and owners, to difficult operations. Outside of work I enjoy cycling, running and horse riding and when feeling less energetic nothing more than relaxing with a film.

My name is Will and I am one of the veterinary surgeons at Barnsley Vets4Pets. I graduated from Cambridge University in 2014. I then started working in a small animal practice in Sheffield, where I developed an interest in diagnostic imaging. I joined the team here in January 2017, and have recently gained a Certificate in Diagnostic Imaging and Ultrasound. Outside of work, I enjoy mountain biking and climbing - spending as much time as possible in the Peak District!

My name Gemma and I am one of the veterinary surgeons at Barnsley Vets4Pets. I joined the practice in 2011. I enjoy all aspects of my job but have a particular interest in dermatology and ophthalmology. When I’m not working I enjoy walking in the countryside with my dog, going to the gym and reading.

My name is Pawel and I am one of the veterinary surgeons at Barnsley Vets4Pets. I graduated from University of Life Sciences in Lublin, Poland in 2016. I joined the practice in 2019  I enjoy all aspects of my job but have a particular interest in surgery and dentistry. 

My name is Eleanor and I am one of the veterinary surgeons here at Barnsley Vets4Pets. I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) in 2021 and started here shortly after. Been a new graduate I am enjoying seeing a range of routine and emergency cases and getting to know our clients and patients. In my spare time I enjoy spending time socialising with my friends. 

My name is Emily and I am one of the registered veterinary nurses at Barnsley Vets4Pets. I qualified in 2009 and have enjoyed the last 10 years working in this amazing practice. I have had the opportunity to grow so much as a nurse and I am now hospital manager. I am responsible for maintaining our hospital standards and protocols and work hard to achieve gold standards throughout the practice to deliver the best care for our clients and patients. I have a real interest in endosurgery that we carry out due to the massive benefits that it has for our patients. I am eager to push forward with new ideas so as a practice we constantly grow and learn. I am also a qualified hydrotherapist and help to rehabilitate many of our patients. When I am not at work I love spending my time with my family, walking our dogs Maddy and Murdock and spending time with my horse Fern.

My name is Tanya and I am one of the registered veterinary nurses at Barnsley Vets4Pets. I have a keen interest in surgery and anaesthesia. I am one of the advanced surgical nurses involved with the day to day running of the theatre and this is where I spend most of my time. I am passionate about this area and enjoy assisting with advanced surgeries such as soft tissue, endoscopy and orthopaedics. I have a certificate in anaesthesia and have recently gained my certificate in surgical nursing (NCert(Surg)). 

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and horse George. 

My name is Chelsea and I am one of the registered veterinary nurse at Barnsley Vets4Pets. I have a keen interest in anaesthesia, surgery and rehabilitation and enjoy assisting with the more advanced endoscopic and orthopaedic surgeries. I have a Level 3 Certificate in Small Animal Hydrotherapy and I am one of the hydrotherapists here. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my dogs Sky and Jobe.

My name is Rachel and I am one of the registered veterinary nurses at Barnsley Vets4Pets. I enjoy all aspects of my job but have a keen interest in theatre work and rehabilitation. I am involved with the running of the theatres and enjoy assisting with the more advanced surgeries that take place. I enjoy the variety that each day brings, the job role is hard work but very rewarding and we witness the bravery of animals everyday.

At home I spend my time with my family and our new puppy Mr Tickles. 

My name is Sally White, and I am one of the registered veterinary nurses at Barnsley Vets4pets. I joined in January 2016. I have been in the veterinary profession for above 20 years now, qualifying as a Veterinary Nurse in 2003. I work part time to balance my work and life as I have 2 fabulous daughters at home too. I have always been interested in the surgical side of the job and hope to learn and progress more so with the endosurgery side of things. We have a Saluki cross Greyhound called Frank, who is my lovable doofus but I wouldn’t be without him, we also have 2 cats Mabel and Louie, who are the calm amongst the madness.

My name is Georgina and I am one of the registered veterinary nurses at Barnsley Vets4pets. I qualified from the College of Animal Welfare (CAW) in 2014. I enjoy all aspects of my job but have a keen interest in nurse consults especially weight clinics. I recently completed a pet health counsellor programme. I am also very keen on promoting good oral hygiene and I recently gained an Oral Care Certificate. Outside of work I enjoy horse riding.

My name is Mandy and I am one of the registered veterinary nurses at Barnsley Vets4Pets. I started here in 2004 and was the first trainee nurse qualifying in 2007. I am proud to have been involved in the growth and progression of the practice right from the very start. I have a keen interest in hydrotherapy, physiotherapy and rehabilitation and gained a Level 3 Certificate in Hydrotherapy for Small Animals in 2011. I enjoy consulting, educating our clients on all aspects of healthcare but in particular puppy training and behaviour. I also enjoy working in theatre assisting the veterinary surgeon with orthopaedics and endoscopy. I am a clinical coach training and mentoring our student nurses. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, friends and pets.

My name is Keeley and I am one of the registered veterinary nurses here at Barnsley Vet4Pets. I hold a certificate in emergency and critical care. I particularly like dealing with any emergencies and looking after unwell inpatients. Although I never want any animal to be in an emergency situation, I like to be the nurse who helps them when they arrive at the practice and then look after them throughout their recovery and see them improve. Since changing to day shift I also enjoy consulting and have taken an interest in Hydrotherapy and Diagnostic work. Out of work I enjoy spending time with my Ragdoll cat Mr Waffles, my budgies, cornsnake and fish.

My name is Becki and I am one of the student veterinary nurses here at Barnsley Vets4Pets. I enjoy all aspects of my job but have a keen interest in inpatient care and orthopaedic surgery. In my spare time I enjoy going on Disney holidays and caring for my budgie. 

My name is Naomi and I am one of the registered veterinary nurses here at Barnsley Vets4Pets. I have recently qualified as an RVN. I am currently enjoying soft tissue surgeries and have a keen interest in anaesthesia. I love all aspects of my job from nurse consults to referral cases. In my spare time I enjoy hiking and yoga. I love watching West End Musicals and spending time with my five cats Arlo, Dante, Theodore, Ada and Cindy. 

My name is Elliot and I am one of the registered veterinary nurses here at Barnsley Vets4Pets. I enjoy all aspects of my job but have a keen interest in surgical nursing.in the future I would like to become a clinical coach and would also like to develop my skills in medical nursing. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my friends and family as well as walking my three dogs. 

My name is Reann and I am one of the registered veterinary nurses here at Barnsley Vets4Pets. I qualified in 2017 and have been here for around 6 years. I love working here alongside the amazing team, we really are one big family. I enjoy canine behaviour and training and used to run the puppy classes here at the practice. I work in all areas of the practice daily and have a keen interest in inpatient nursing, nothing is more rewarding than helping a patient feel better and get back to their family!

At home I have 4 cats and 1 Boston Terrier Maggie. 

My name is Beth and I am one of the student veterinary nurses here at Barnsley Vet4Pets. I enjoy all aspects of my job but have a keen interest in surgery. I am currently studying for my nursing qualification at the College of Animal Welfare and I am looking forward to completing my first year. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and walking my two dogs Max and Roxy. 

My name is Natasha and I am one of the student veterinary nurses here at Barnsley Vets4Pets. I enjoy all aspects of working in a veterinary practice. My main interests at the moment are the surgical aspects, but I am always open to experiencing new things. In my spare time I spend a lot of time helping my mum run her glamping business in North Yorkshire on her farm. When I am not there I enjoy spending time with my friends going to gigs and festivals. Me and my partner enjoy going exploring with our dogs Bonnie and Buddy. 

My name is Laura and I am the Referral animal care assistant here at Barnsley Vets4Pets. I enjoy caring for the animals straight from surgery and looking after them until they go home. I particularly enjoy caring for the more intensive patients following their advanced surgeries. I passed my Animal Care Diploma with Distinction. In my spare time I enjoy walking and visiting my family. 

My name is Rebecca and I am one of the Animal care assistants here at Barnsley Vets4Pets. I enjoy all aspects of my job but in particular caring for the patient's following a range of different surgeries, ensuring they have a smooth recovery. I my spare time I enjoy competing my Patterdale in dog agility and spending time with my family. 

My name is Cait and I am one of the registered veterinary nurses here at Barnsley Vets4Pets. I started here in March 2022. I love everything about being a veterinary nurse but my passion lies with looking after the inpatients. watching patients get better and return home to their family all bright eyed and waggy tailed is the most rewarding. At home I'm kept busy with two guinea pigs called Mercutio and Pepe. 

My name is Louise and I am the practice manager at Barnsley Vets4Pets. I work closely with the partners Peter and Caroline to put procedures and actions in place and make sure that the procedures and standards are maintained. I assist with the day to day running of the hospital and practice. I am the point of contact between managers and partners to assist the smooth running of the business.

My name is Holly and I am one of the receptionists here at Barnsley Vets4Pets. I love welcoming you and your lovely pets into the practice and helping out with anything you need. I also really enjoy organising appointments for pets that have been referred to us and helping them on their journey.

At home I have 3 dogs, Luna the Jug & Milly & Molly my rescue Pugs. I also have 2 small humans, they all keep me very busy on my days off!!

My name is Ellisha and I am one of the receptionists here at Barnsley Vets4Pets. I work with Holly as a referral coordinator. My role within the practice is varied, from booking appointments to arranging referrals from other practices, no matter the case it’s always a pleasure to meet your furry friends!

It is so amazing to see a critical patient going home after being in our care, or simply seeing your new addition have its first visit to us – being a small part of your pets journey is endlessly rewarding.

At home, I am kept entertained by my cat Albie & my dog Tan.

My name is Kim and I am part of the insurance team here at Barnsley Vet4Pets. I deal with the authorising of new direct claims along with completing the claim forms and staying in contact with the client and insurance companies. I attended Nottingham Trent University and got my foundation degree in Veterinary Nursing in 2018, after qualifying I have been a veterinary nurse at both veterinary hospitals and first opinion practices before settling here at Barnsley Vets4Pets as an insurance administrator with the odd nursing shift. I have 2 rescue dogs, 1 rescue cat and a Miniature Dachshund that love causing havoc! In my spare time I enjoy going to kickboxing and spending time with my partner.

 

My name is Heather and I am a qualified SQP here at Barnsley Vets4Pets. I work in the pharmacy dispensing and preparing medications. I also assist the veterinary surgeons where necessary. At home I have a dog called Pepper and a tortoise call Tezvegas.

My name is Christine and I am a pharmacy assistant here at Barnsley Vets4Pets. We are lucky to have a dedicated pharmacy team, dispensing medications, running tests in the lab, looking after the consulting vets and so much more. I have been working here for 3 years and enjoy the variety of the work and being part of a fantastic and dedicated team... with the added bonus of working with animals which I love!

At home I enjoy training and walking my 3 working cocker spaniels which keeps me very busy and I can never resist giving a spaniel a cuddle when I get chance!
