Meet the team

Byfleet V4P Steve Brawley

Steve Brawley

Owner & Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated from Glasgow University Veterinary School in 1982, having been brought up in one of the Scottish “new towns” on the outskirts of Glasgow.

Over the years I have worked in many areas of the veterinary field, including university, charity work with the PDSA, the Armed Forces, industry and owning my own practices.

Despite a long and varied career, I have never lost my enthusiasm for the work and enjoy nothing more than seeing owners reunited with a healthy pet after illness or surgery.

Outside of work, my family, house, garden and pets occupy most of my free time.

I love meeting new people and pets, so why not come along and meet us all, have a look round the surgery and see how we can help maintain the special bond between you and your pet.

Byfleet V4P Helen Russell

Helen Russell

Owner & Registered Veterinary Nurse

I have been working in the veterinary profession since 1998 and qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2004.

Over the years, I've had the opportunity to work in a variety of veterinary practices ranging from referral clinics to dedicated emergency and critical care out of hours clinics.

Along with the various practices I have worked in, I have had the chance to work with small animals, cats, dogs and horses in the UK and exotic animals such as reptiles, parrots, falcons, cheetah's and lions whilst I worked in Dubai.

I joined the team at Vets4Pets Woking full time in November 2014 and became their Head Nurse in April 2015. My most recent achievement was studying and gaining my qualification in City and Guilds Certificate in Veterinary Nursing Emergency and Critical Care September 2015.

I have 2 Japanese Shiba Inu dogs, Kimi and Rossi, 2 cats, Tink, whom I brought back from Dubai and is an Arabian Mau and Kieren who is a domestic short hair whom I took on as a rescue after he was involved in a road traffic accident, and last, but no means least, my hamster George.

In my spare time - if I'm not working or walking my dogs on the beach, I am a wolf handler at the UK Wolf Conservation Trust in Beenham, Reading.

I love all aspects of veterinary nursing, and have a true enthusiasm for my job, but I particularly enjoy my nurse consultations and meeting all your lovely pets!

Veterinary Surgeon

I qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 2008, in Lithuania, and worked for 3 years at a small animal practice in Vilnius. I then moved to The UK and became registered here 2015.

I have a true passion for animals and this all stemmed from my parents owning a dog kennels. Now I have a Domestic Short Haired cat called Cleopatra, who was a rescue (although I would love to have more) and my 2 children who keep me very occupied.

I joined Vets4Pets Byfleet in April 2016 and already I feel I have settled in well. I enjoy being part of the team because of its great atmosphere, facilities and team work.

My areas of interest are soft tissue surgery and internal medicine.

In my spare time, I like to relax with my children, read books and I love to knit!

I look forward to welcoming all our clients and treating their pets

Registered Veterinary Nurse

I qualified as Registered Veterinary nurse in 2013. I did my training in a busy Orthopaedic referral practice where my love for nursing grew. I have a real passion for cats which began when I worked in a cattery for 5 years before I started training as a Veterinary Nurse.

Before training as a Veterinary Nurse I completed my Bsc (Hons) In Animal Management. At the moment I am studying for my award in Canine and Feline Behaviour and I am really enjoying being able to apply what I have learnt in practice to try and make my patients feel as comfortable on their visit to the vets as possible.

When I am not busy working or studying I have a 2 year old son, Jack who keeps me on my toes along with my 3 dogs Kala (Labrador), Jess (Hungarian Vizsla), Bobby (Collie cross), and 2 cats Chino (Birman) and last but not least Rex whom I hand reared after he was found on the side of the road at around 3 days old.

I joined Byfleet Vets4Pets when they opened on the 14th March 2016, I really like doing Nurse consults and I look forward to meeting all our fluffy clients and their owners soon.

Byfleet V4P Tim Farmer

Tim Farmer

Veterinary Care Assistant

Hello, I'm Tim. I've had a love of animals all my life, but I really wanted to be a chef when I was a kid, as I loved food (and eating it), but I decided as I grew up that I'd rather work with animals instead. I completed a part-time animal management course 2 years ago and I'm excited to be joining the team here at Byfleet. Some of you might recognise me, as I used to work in the Marks and Spencers café in Brooklands.

I also volunteer at the UK Wolf Conservation Trust in Beenham, with Helen, and have been helping there since 2014. Wolves are my favourite animal and it's a dream come true to be able to work with them.

I'm an avid gamer and enjoy playing videogames online with my friends, as well as various miniature, card and board games. I often play in events and tournaments in and around Surrey, so say hi if you see me.

Byfleet V4P Chloe

I have loved animals from a young age and I think that love will stay with me forever!

At home we have two German Shepherds (Narla and Bella), one Jack Russell (Lottie), one black domestic short haired cat (Fudge) who is an RSPCA rescue that my family and I rescued from when she was 9 weeks old with her sister (Toffee), who was sadly put to sleep last year. One ginger tabby cat (Kitty) who I absolutely adore. I also rescued him as an abandoned kitten on the street (after I found out that his owner decided to neglect him). I took him to the vets to check him over as he didn't seem very healthy, he was riddled with fleas and had two little swollen eyes. Kitty had an eye and an ear infection, the vet estimated him as being 12 weeks when I found him.

I also have two guinea pigs which make funny little noises (Teddy and Freddy). They definitely live up to the pig standard. Teddy is a teddy/rex breed and has funny frizzy fur, if he was brown he would look like a little hedgehog! I also have my beautiful little mixed breed rabbit (Bunny). He is white with black tips on his ears and black circles around his eyes, it makes him look like he wears more eyeliner than me!

I have to admit I am a keen bunny hugger! A rabbit will never leave the practice without being fussed over!

The first moment I found out I could apply to work for a brand new Vets4Pets, I applied!

I look forward to signing up more interested clients and getting to watch the Byfleet practice flourish.

Byfleet V4P Jackie

Reception Manager

I first joined the Vets4Pets Group in 2015 as a Locum Receptionist for the Woking Vets4Pets practice. The position was meant to be short term, however, it didn't take long for me to fall in love with the job as well as the team and I became a full time Vets4Pets Receptionist within a month.

When Steve and Helen asked me to join them and the new team at Byfleet as the Reception Manager, I was ridiculously humbled and excited to start a new adventure at a brand new Vets4Pets practice. Not many people can say this but I genuinely love coming into work everyday due to my amazing colleagues and clients.

Most of my time outside of work is taken up by my two crazy miniature labradoodles, Chewbacca and Wookie, two cats, Albion and Whisky, and a rabbit called Harley.

Hello, my name is Linda and I live in Byfleet, I’m the newest member of the Vets4Pets Byfleet team.

As Receptionist you will normally see me waiting to greet you and your fluffy, furry, feathery, scaly friends with a smile. At home I have 3 dogs, Milly and Rolo both Yorkiepoos and Winnie a cavapoo. I also have a tortoise called Wilma who likes to eat my sweetpeas!

In my spare time I run ‘Byfleet Players’ which is the local amateur dramatics group. I also enjoy Arts and Crafts and going to the theatre.
