Meet the team

Cristina Cozmescu

Practice Manager & Joint Venture Partner

My name is Cristina and I am the Practice manager and Joint Venture Partner at Vets4Pets Coventry Walsgrave. I have been around animals from a very young age and 10 years ago I started rescuing animals in Romania and discovered my passion and love for them. In 2013, when I moved to the UK I knew I wanted to work with animals and got a job at the clinic as a receptionist. I slowly worked my way up and 3 years later got the job of my dreams as a Practice manager. This is living proof that everyone can achieve what they want if they work hard and with passion.

In my spare time I love spending time with my two rescued cats, Phoebe and Joey and with my little rescue dog Didi. When I'm not at work I love travelling the world, meeting new people and discovering new cultures. I look forward to seeing you and your furry friends at the practice.

Leah Whitlam

Registered Veterinary Nurse RVN & Joint Venture Partner

I have been in Veterinary Practice since leaving school in 2010 and did my Veterinary Nursing Diploma at Moreton Morrell College. I spent a few years at a big practice in Birmingham where I gained lots of experience with a wide range of small animals and exotic animals. I am currently doing my Certificate in Exotic nursing which I'm due to finish shortly, before undertaking the Vets Now emergency Certificate commencing this coming winter (no rest for the wicked!).

There's no peace at home either where I have an 18 month old son, plus 3 dogs; Keelo (Staffordshire bull terrier) Lola (Cross Breed) and Odon (deaf English Bull Terrier) who are no strangers to the practice and regularly come to work with me. I also have an assortment of cats (8 to be exact), plus my partner Oliver who really qualifies as my extra toddler! Seriously though, he's been very patient and understanding in my love for bringing everything homeless home with me! I will help in every way I can and love making pets happy and healthy again.

Diana Draghici

Veterinary Surgeon MRCVS

I qualified from the University of Agnonomic sciences and veterinary medicine in Bucharest in 2016. My love for animals has been passed through my parents, who have owned cocker spaniels since I was 4 years old. I decided to become a vet because there's no greater satisfaction than seeing a pets happy eyes. Sometimes, I feel that even though they cant talk they are more expressive than people. We have a lot to learn from them, unconditional love and loyalty.

In my spare time I love exploring the world and doing all kinds of sports. I look forward to meeting you and your fluffy ones.

Daisy Trewin

Registered Veterinary Nurse RVN

My love and passion for animals started at a very young age keeping a variety of animals. Volunteering in my local vets at 15 allowed me to see what an amazing job vets and nurses do everyday for our beloved pets. I went to Nottingham Trent University to do a foundation degree in Veterinary nursing and Qualified in 2017. After locuming at the busy Royal Veterinary College (RVC) where I gained lots of invaluable experience and knowledge, I moved to the area and started working at this lovely, homely practice.

I currently have two very fluffy Lionhead rabbits and a guinea pig, but I am looking forward to a time when I can have a cat and dog of my own. One of my interests outside of working is painting animals and pet portraits. I am also very interested in Wildlife and have hand-reared many hedgehogs in my time in Veterinary practice. I am always willing to take the extra time and care needed with your pet, big or small and I feel everyone in the team are a friendly face your can turn to with any problem.

Katie Ronch

Registered Veterinary Nurse RVN

I first started out in practice as an Animal Care Assistant in 2013, I thoroughly enjoyed this work and decided I wanted I become a Veterinary Nurse. I started my training in 2014, studying at Moreton Morrell College and a practice in Daventry. I qualified in 2017 and stayed at my training practice for several months afterwards. I moved to Vets4Pets in January 2018 and have thoroughly enjoyed it here with the team.

During my time doing nurse studies I have acquired 2 beautiful cats. My first was a lovely black and white stray kitten (who is 5 now) and my second was a tabby cat who came into the practice at around 10 days old. He needed a little help so I hand-reared him from the day he came in. He is 2 years old now and very cheeky! I also have a crazy young Spaniel who I love to take for long walks along the beach.

I qualified in 2001, working in a mixed farm and small animal practice. After taking some time away from practice to work as a Phlebotomist for the Pet Blood Bank, I have come back to small animal work, where I enjoy surgery especially Orthopaedic work.

I have a rescue cat and a very naughty pony which keep me busy, along with pole fitness and watching the Rugby League.

I am also learning clay pigeon shooting. I look forward to meeting you and your pets.

Laura Hipkiss

Veterinary Care Assistant VCA & Receptionist

I finished my studies at college in 2011 then started working at a vets in Birmingham, my home town, where I spent many years. Here is where I rescued my beloved little French Bulldog, Ronnie, who I love dearly. I have always loved animals ever since I was a little girl and I thrive on caring for them.

I started here at Coventry in 2015 as a Veterinary Care Assistant. I then went on a career break to see if there was anything else I'd be better at. I realised after nearly 2 years that it wasn't for me and I missed that close relationship with the clients and patients at the vets, so I returned back to Coventry in 2017, where I have thoroughly loved being back and seeing old faces.

Over the years in the veterinary industry I have acquired 3 dogs, 2 very cheeky little boys Harvey (Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Oscar (the crazy spaniel!) and Ronnie wiggle-bum, (my frenchie) and not forgetting my beautiful black and white cats, Tinkerbell and Alfie. I love to unwind at the gym and I enjoy horse riding when I get the chance.

Gemma Hopkins

I studied at the University of Suffolk and completed my FDSC in wildlife management and conservation back in 2012. After finishing University I wasn't completely sure what I wanted to do going forward. It took a few years before I found myself at Vets4Pets Coventry Walsgrave but I have loved it from the moment I joined the team. The team here are very welcoming and will strive to give the best care possible for all of your pets.

I try to bring a smile to everyone I meet and love to have cuddles with all the furry friends that visit the practice. I have a little black cat of my own called Kyo, he is very naughty at 5am when he wakes me up for breakfast by jumping at my door and meowing until I wake up, but I wouldn't change him!

Lauren Watts

I completed my animal management Diploma with Triple Distinction* at Solihull college in 2018. Since qualifying I have decided that I would like to go into the Veterinary Industry and help animals who are in need. Before coming to Vets4Pets, I worked at a local grooming parlour from the age of 14. This work made my passion for for animals shine through and helped me become extremely confident with dogs.

At home I have a working cocker spaniel called Poppy and 2 dwarf hamsters. I would love to have a wider range of animals in the future, including a chinchilla. I am bubbly and friendly and am looking forward to seeing where being a new member of the team will take me!
