Meet the Crawley Vet Team

Emma Clarke Crawley Vets4Pets

Emma Clarke

Joint Venture Partner and Head Veterinary Nurse

I graduated from the University of Bristol in 2011 after completing a BSc (Hons) in veterinary nursing and practice administration. I have always been passionate about animals and being a veterinary nurse is my dream job.

Being a head nurse comes with challenges of its own but these challenges I embrace. I am also a clinical Coach meaning I train the student veterinary nurses. As of this year I have taken on the new role of JVP (joint venture partner) which will allow for greater flexibility and management.

I love all aspects of my job in particular medical nursing, Geriatric nursing and rabbit nursing. I have completed my rabbit nursing Diploma and am currently undertaking the emergency and critical care nursing diploma.

At home I am owned by my house rabbits; Beast and Brian. I also have 3 cats Boris who lives with my parents and my most naughty children Zig and Zag.

James Fowler BVM&S MRCVS

Joint Venture Partner and Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2000. I went on to gain a wide range of experience working in four very different small animal practices in the south-east. It has long been my ambition to run my own practice and I am looking forward to bringing together all of the skills that I have acquired in those positions to provide the best possible service to the patients and clients of Vets4Pets Crawley.

I completed the General Practitioner Certificate in Small Animal Medicine in 2005, but also particularly enjoy surgery and exotic animal medicine. Away from work I enjoy travelling, eating out and cooking. Fortunately I am also a keen runner which helps to compensate for my more indulgent pastimes!

Vets4Pets Crawley Kate

Kate Simpson BVSc MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated from the University of Bristol in 2001 and started my veterinary career in mixed practice in Cornwall (all creatures great and small!). During this time I decided to focus on dogs, cats, rabbits and small mammals and moved on to complete a Small Animal Medicine and Surgery Internship at the Royal Veterinary College. I gained further experience working as a locum vet at several different practices in Surrey and fulfilled a lifelong ambition to travel. I then settled into a permanent senior vet position also in Surrey and completed further training in ultrasound and cardiology. I am interested in all aspects of the job, but especially medicine, soft tissue surgery and ultrasound imaging.

Whilst away from work I am kept busy by our two children and love walking my dog Bess.

Eleanor Raj MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College and worked in small animal practice in Kent for several years. I then moved on to a hospital practice where I gained further valuable experience in a very busy and fast-paced environment.

I really enjoy getting to know clients and their pets and am especially interested in challenging medical cases and diagnostic imaging.

Fern Wilson MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

I recently graduated from the Royal Veterinary College and started at Vets4Pets Crawley in August 2017. Throughout university I had a passion for equine veterinary work but decided to focus on small companion animals after graduating. I enjoy all aspects of veterinary medicine but have a particular passion for surgery. I am also interested in rabbit medicine and have two rabbits of my own, Harley and Nibbles.

When I'm not at work I enjoy spending time with family, friends and enjoying cuddles with my two cats Oscar and Bob. I am also a keen horse rider and regularly event my two horses, Charlie and H.

Janika Patel MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated from University of Nottingham in 2017 and have always wanted to go into small animal practice. I thoroughly enjoy working with my clients and my team to provide the best veterinary care I can for my furry patients. I particularly enjoy discussing preventative care and husbandry with owners at routine visits. I have a keen interest in cardiology and internal medicine and cannot wait to learn more about this as well as improve my surgical skills at the practice.

In my free time, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, in particular my nephews. I love food, cooking and socialising with friends over a good meal. Unfortunately I have never been allowed to keep any pets of my own, but I cannot wait to have a miniature Daschund in the future.

Max Gaden

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Hi, I am Max. I became a qualified nurse in September 2016. Before then I had varied jobs including social care and aviation. I started at Crawley when the practice first opened as a veterinary care assistant, then went on to do my nurse training. The areas of my job that I find most rewarding are geriatric and medical nurse clinics and radiology (x-rays).

I am lucky enough to be owned by Henry and Charles, my two rabbits, and by Seabass and Marcel, my two Ragdoll cats. When I’m not at work, I am running around after my beautiful daughter, Amber. My hobbies include yoga, signing and cooking. I also love a night out having cocktails with my friends.

Ashley Down

Since qualifying in 2014, I have worked in multiple practices across South London, Surrey and West Sussex. I have a keen interest in surgical nursing, animal nutrition and client and student nurse training. I am currently studying towards a Certificate in Canine and Feline Veterinary Health Nutrition. I am also a Clinical Coach and responsible for teaching and coaching student nurses through the practical side of their training.

Judy Warren

I grew up in Southern Ireland and was extremely fortunate to share my wonderful childhood with animals of all different shapes and sizes! I trained in Edinburgh, Ireland and England qualifying in 2001. After which, I went travelling around the world and was lucky enough to work in Morocco. Since then I worked a various places included the RSPCA in Putney.

I was lucky enough to be employed by Vets4Pets 2.5 years ago on a part time basis. I love all aspects of my job and have a special interest in animal welfare. I very much enjoy caring for our inpatients and do enjoy the buzz of a busy prep room!

When I am not at work I am exercising by my two dogs, Otter a cheeky border terrier who came from my work at the RSPCA and Moose, a wonderfully loyal Labrador. We also have a lovely pony called Foresta and Weasel, our little domestic short haired cat who also came from the RSPCA in Putney. She is adored by the children and is lucky enough to be the only animal allowed upstairs!I enjoy exercising when I am not being mum; I especially love going for 5-10km runs. The dogs get super excited when the trainers go on!

Kara Meadows

Hi, I’m Kara and I have recently joined the team this year. It is going amazingly and I am thoroughly enjoying getting to know all our clients and their animals. I used to work in a nursery with pre-schoolers, so I am used to the chaos! It really is great fun.

I have a Jack Russell called Peanut who clings to me like a baby. I also have a tortoise called Shelden and a pygmy hedgehog called Hank. I do like our exotic animals the best, and I hope to get an iguana in the future. In my spare time I enjoy playing video games and playing musical instruments. I can already play the ukulele and now I'm learning the piano.
