Vets4Pets Dunfermline

Meet the Dunfermline vet team

Dunfermline Vets4Pets Forbes

Forbes Shaw BVM&S BSC (Hons) MRCVS

Owner & Veterinary Surgeon

Hello, I’m Forbes and I’m one of the partners at Vets4Pets Dunfermline.

I became a vet because it offers the opportunity to make a difference to people’s lives through a shared love of animals. Since graduating from Edinburgh I have travelled a bit of the world working in exotic climates and all the time building on my surgical interest where I have undertaken further training. In addition to surgery I have a huge passion for delivering a quality of service that will leave you in no doubt how much we value your decision to entrust us with the care of your pets.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
There are a lot of highlights but for me it’s seeing those animals turn a corner just when you think things may not be looking great. The look on the owners and animals faces when they are reunited is so rewarding and a joy to be part of.

How do you deal with euthanasia?
Euthanasia is a highly emotional, stressful time for everyone involved and no matter how many times I perform this it doesn’t get any easier. As difficult as it is for me, it is an enormously emotional moment for those who are losing their best friend so I always remember that and just try to help and support you in any way I can.

Outside of work:
I spend a lot of my time keeping fit and I regularly get to the gym although I love the outdoors so will enjoy exploring the stunning landscapes we have in Scotland. I might be particularly scarce in May as yet another year passes when an unnamed football club fails to win the Scottish cup, again. That’s 112 years and counting…no need to ask which one, surely!

Do you have any pets?
With all the travelling around I have been doing it unfortunately hasn’t been fair to have any animals. So no pets yet but watch this space…

Dunfermline Vets4Pets Lauren

Lauren Millmore RVN

Owner & Head Veterinary Nurse

Hello, my name is Lauren and I am one of the partners at Vets4Pets Dunfermline.

After qualifying from Myerscough College, as Student of the Year, I stayed close to friends, family and my childhood home on the Isle of Wight. Although I specialise in small animal practice, I have been fortunate enough to get up close and personal with some more exotic animals when volunteering at the Isle of Wight Zoo. This included several tigers, a lion, monkeys and even a wallaby. However a highlight was helping to anaesthetise Zena, their gorgeous white tiger so she could have specialised surgery on her eye. She lost the other eye many years ago due to glaucoma. The surgery was a huge success and has improved her quality of life immensely!

What do you enjoy most about your work?
There are so many things about my job I absolutely love!! However one of the things I enjoy the most is getting to know you and your furry companions - you have so many great stories and experiences to share and I can’t wait to hear all of them!

What do you do outside of work?
I very much enjoy fitness outside of work, I regularly go to the gym, aerobics classes and enjoy running. I have recently had spinal surgery to replace two herniated discs so have found a new love of the pool as part of my recovery. I am getting stronger each day and can’t wait to get back in the gym.

Dunfermline Vets4Pets Louise Martin

Louise Martin

Hello, I'm Louise Martin one of the receptionists at Vets4Pets Dunfermline. I have worked with animals for around 9 years and I love it. I am always eager to welcome all our returning clients and new ones too. I have two dogs at home, Charlie a 3 year old Great Dane and Woody a 10 month old Collie - both need a lot of exercise and keep me very busy.

In my spare time I love to read and to take my dogs to the beach and let them go crazy in the water. I look forward to meeting you and your pets!

Dunfermline Vets4Pets Rebecca Jeffries

Rebecca 'Becks' Jeffries

Hello, my name is Becky and I am a student veterinary nurse at Vets4Pets Dunfermline. I graduated from Napier University in 2012 with an honours degree in Biological Sciences, before working as a retail supervisor in Inverness. I returned home to Dunfermline to become a care assistant in the practice and started at the College of Animal Welfare in 2015. I really enjoy all aspects of my job, especially meeting the diversity of pets that come and see us every day!

I am totally cat mad and share my particularly busy life with my partner Daniel, 8 cats, a Rottweiler named Nero and a gerbil called Maverick.

When I get a chance to I enjoy showing my cats and going to the Rugby.

Larissa Jackson

Hello, my name is Larissa & I am one of the receptionists here at Vets4Pets Dunfermline. I started working here in October 2014 & no two days have been the same! The most enjoyable aspect of my job has to be all the cuddles with the puppies and kittens and watching them grow up at each visit. Outside of work I enjoy horse riding and spending time with my family. I share my home with Nalah my 3 year old German Shepherd cross & my two very little but very opinionated rabbits, Puzzle & Bing.

Abigail Mckenzie

Veterinary Care Assistant

Hello my name is Abigail Mckenzie and I am the Veterinary care assistant here at Vets4pets Dunfermline. Since I left school I have always worked with animals. Before Vets4Pets I was an assistant manager at a reptile shop which happen to be one of my favourite kind of animals.

I have grown up with animals my whole life and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I currently share my house with my many pets. Buddy, my 4-year-old cat is a huge part of my life. He is my wee best friend but it also very high maintenance and loves to always be by my side. Buddy is a very smart cat and has learned how to sit, give a paw and even give a kiss. My 4ft Bosc monitor, Simba, also keeps me very busy with his specific maintenance and diet!

I love all aspects of my job, from the beginning when I book your pets in for their appointments, to assisting the nurses and vets during your animal’s time at the clinic. My favourite part of my job is the aftercare I give your pets, ensuring that they are recovering well after their procedures and getting them ready to go home.

I look forward to meeting you and your furry friends.
