Ruth Taylor BVSc MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon, JVP

Hello, I’m Ruth. I was brought up on a farm in Oxfordshire so was destined to work with animals! I trained and worked as a veterinary nurse for 5 years before deciding to go to vet school in Liverpool.

I fell in love with the North West and haven’t left since! I worked in mixed practice to begin with, helping horses and farm animals (my Dad was pleased!) as well as pets, but then decided to focus on small animals. When the opportunity came up to be involved with the surgery at Ellesmere Port I jumped at the chance and am really enjoying seeing the surgery grow since we opened in February 2016.

I enjoy all aspects of being a vet but especially enjoying consulting and getting to meet people and their pets. I am currently studying for a Post Graduate Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice and find myself mostly treating cats and dogs, but also quite a few rabbits, guinea pigs and chickens. I live in Cheshire with my little munchkin, Minstrel, (in the picture), who is a Jack Russell/Miniature Dachshund cross. I enjoy reading and going to the cinema and also attend my local church, where I sing in the music group.

Rachel Tomlinson

Veterinary Care Assistant

Hello my name is Rachel Tomlinson and I have had the privilege of being picked to be the new veterinary care assistant at the new, shiny Ellesmere Port surgery. This is a dream come true for me because I have always wanted to work with animals and I am currently finishing my BSc Honours degree in Animal Studies.

I am hoping to further my career with Vets4Pets in Veterinary Nursing or even maybe a Veterinary Surgeon. I have always loved animals and have worked at rescues centres and a local dairy farm. In my time after work I spend it either; riding or competing my three horses, training or walking my border collie puppy, cuddling my five cats, two rabbits or spoiling my gorgeous niece.

I cannot wait to meet all our new clients and get to meet and work with all your lovely animals.

Steph Lewis

My name is Steph, and I have joined Vets4Pets as a receptionist at the Cheshire Oaks Ellesmere Port surgery.

I've always had a passion for animals, their welfare, and kept an interest in educating people about animal care. I used to work on an organic dairy farm which was also a visitor attraction. I presented educational talks to schools and the public on husbandry and welfare of livestock, helped with the milking of the cows, calving, lambing and loads of the other elements of the farming industry. I saw some fascinating things. No day was ever the same.

I studied Animal Health and Welfare at Leeds Metropolitan University, passed and thought I'd become a Vet Nurse. Life took over. I wanted to move out of home, and start working to earn my own money, get my own car and have a big social life. I transferred into the IT sector and worked for an online training company for 5 years, then moved to an office solutions company in Liverpool not too long ago. It quickly hit me that this wasn't where my heart lay, and if I didn't do something about it, then I never would. I came across the vacancy for this surgery and grabbed it with both hands. The potential to progress within this brilliant company and in the sector I love is exactly the push I needed to do something I know I'm made for.
