Tshidi Gardiner

Tshidi Gardiner

Veterinary Surgeon & Partner

I qualified in veterinary medicine in 2003 from the University of Pretoria, South Africa, fondly known by all graduates as Onderstepoort or “OP”. I moved to the UK in 2004 for the start of my travels, but stopped at the first post as I fell in love with Devon.

Over the years I dealt with animals of all sizes at all times of the day and night. After starting my family, I have concentrated on emergency medicine and critical care of the cat and dog, and my current interests lie in feline medicine, endocrinology and small furry medicine. I love my job and enjoy spending time with my clients and their animals. If you come down to the practice, you often find me cuddling a puppy or kitten, but I promise I do work the rest of the time.

I am married to my long suffering husband, Glen and we have two young but very active boys, Spencer and Tristan. I have ‘Puffy’ and ‘Venom’, our nocturnal Roborovski dwarf hamsters, Clive (Chinese hamster) and Tom (hamster). Most importantly we have Gordon who has joined us in the last 6 months – my gorgeous cat.

Kayleigh Harris

Registered Veterinary Nurse

I have been animal-obsessed for as long as I can remember and have always had a variety of pets from pocket mice to a Clydesdale horse. I trained to be a veterinary nurse in my native Cornwall, but decided to leave my seaside town for the ‘buzz’ of city life in Exeter in 2012. I joined Vets4pets with its opening team in April 2014 and still love every minute.

I have a special interest in cats and behaviour and would like to qualify as a feline behaviourist in the future. I also enjoy neonatal care and often end up hand rearing kittens.

At home I have two cats, Colin and Hermione and two fish, Lieutenant Shiny Sides and Brett and a very patient boyfriend Steve.

I have always loved animals and from a young age I knew nursing was my dream. At home, I have two dogs C.J (Springer Spaniel) and Georgie – (mini dachshund) also I have a cat that I rescued from a previous practice I worked at - Tigger. I have a young family with my husband James and daughter Amelia.

I have worked at Vets4Pets, Marsh Barton since it first opened in March 2014 as a receptionist. I have always wanted to work with animals. The best part of my job is getting to watch the puppies and kittens grow up. My family and I have six dogs; Buster the cockerpoo, Savannah the German pointer, Molly the Pomeranian, India the cocker spaniel, Pandora the chihuahua and Harley the chihuahua cross. We also have four cats; Nala, Rory, Tigger and Lotty. We also have a pet chicken, Betty. We also take in dogs for holidays so we always have a full house!

Hemione Practice Cat

Practice Mascot

My name is Hermione and I am the mascot here at Vets4pets Exeter Marsh Barton. I arrived here with my four sisters when I was two days old and my new mum Kayleigh hand-reared us. My sisters went and found their forever homes but as I was very ill, I decided to stay. I spend most of my time at home now but I still enjoy the odd day at work with mum. You will find me demanding cuddles on the reception desk or ‘helping’ with the hoovering.

Student Veterinary Nurse

I graduated from the University of Portsmouth with a BSc(Hons) in Video and Broadcasting, which provided me with some amazing experiences, but after this I decided to follow my life-long passion for animals. I am now a final year student veterinary nurse and have been nursing for three and a half years with hopes of becoming qualified in 2016. I have a huge soft spot for small furries and have an ever-growing collection of rescue rodents. I also have a golden retriever called Jacob who has been my best friend since I was 13 and three naughty ducks.
