Tshidi Gardiner

Veterinary Surgeon & Partner

I qualified in veterinary medicine in 2003 from the University of Pretoria, South Africa, fondly known by all graduates as Onderstepoort or “OP”. I moved to the UK in 2004 for the start of my travels, but stopped at the first post as I fell in love with Devon.

Over the years I dealt with animals of all sizes at all times of the day and night. After starting my family, I have concentrated on emergency medicine and critical care of the cat and dog, and my current interests lie in feline medicine, endocrinology and small furry medicine. I love my job and enjoy spending time with my clients and their animals. If you come down to the practice, you often find me cuddling a puppy or kitten, but I promise I do work the rest of the time.

I am married to my long suffering husband, Glen and we have two young but very active boys, Spencer and Tristan. I have ‘Puffy’ and ‘Venom’, our nocturnal Roborovski dwarf hamsters, Clive (Chinese hamster) and Tom (hamster). Most importantly we have Gordon who has joined us in the last 6 months – my gorgeous cat.

Veterinary Surgeon

I qualified in Veterinary Medicine in 2004 from the University of Bristol. After a year in mixed practice I moved into solely small animal work including an internship at the University of Liverpool in 2010 and joined Vets4Pets, Exeter Marsh in February 2016.

I love all aspects of my job but have a particular interest and specialisation in soft tissue surgery having gained both a General practitioners certificate (GPCert(SAS)) in 2009 and an RCVS certificate (CertAVP) in 2015. Despite these post-graduate qualifications I still have a strong interest in medicine and love the variety of clinical cases and animals that we see.

My favourite part of our job is getting to meet clients and their pets and form an ongoing relationship with them over time seeing their pets grow and helping to keep them well.

I am married to my husband Ian who is also a vet and we have a 3 year old son Oscar and 6 month old baby girl Beatrice. We share our home with our three dogs, three chickens, two guinea pigs and a horse so life is busy!

Student Veterinary Nurse

I started working for Vets4Pets, Marsh Barton in June 2016. I started out by doing a couple of weeks' work experience as I had just finished my Level 2 in Veterinary Nursing at Bicton College.

I was offered a job in July as a Student Veterinary Nurse which I was very thankful for. I then started my first year Level 3 Veterinary Nursing in September 2016 at Bridgewater College.

I have always had animals in the house growing up and currently have 5 cats; Molly, Esme, Spencer, Pepper and Nala. I also have 4 dogs; Marlene (Sharpei), Denzel (Scotty X Westie), Shila (Husky X Malamute) and little Rodney (Shit-zu X Yorkie). You will often find me either cuddling with the animals or chatting to clients on reception!

Student Veterinary Nurse

I graduated from the University of Portsmouth with a BSc(Hons) in Video and Broadcasting, which provided me with some amazing experiences, but after this I decided to follow my life-long passion for animals. I am now a final year student veterinary nurse and have been nursing for three and a half years with hopes of becoming qualified in 2016. I have a huge soft spot for small furries and have an ever-growing collection of rescue rodents. I also have a golden retriever called Jacob who has been my best friend since I was 13 and three naughty ducks.
