Vets4Pets Gosport

Meet the Gosport vet team

Dr Shane Carmichael BVSc MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon and Practice Owner

I grew up in Australia with a house full of pets and a desire to become a vet from a very young age.

I graduated in 1999 from Melbourne University and started work in a mixed practice seeing dogs, cats, horses, cattle and alpacas. During this time I discovered my interest in surgery, particularly orthopaedics

In 2002 I moved to the UK to travel and I was fortunate that I could work as a vet here at the same time. I worked in a large charity and various private practices all over the country until settling in as the senior surgeon to a clinic in Portsmouth. We had a high surgical caseload and helped numerous pets to get better.

Our family cat, Figaro, came to the clinic after a car accident and we repaired his broken leg and nursed him back to health. He is now running around like nothing happened.

In my spare I try to keep up with my two small children. Gosport Vets4Pets is a family run local business supported by Vets4Pets in all the mundane matters that a business needs to do to function.

At the heart of our clinic is my team. They do their utmost to care for your pets and to help you provide for all your pet's needs. We look forward to seeing you and your pets and welcome feedback.

Dr Gillian MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 2004. Initially I worked in mixed practice in the Lake District before moving to small animal practice when I followed my husband to Plymouth. I worked in charity practice for 8 years, most recently back in Glasgow, before moving to Vets4Pets on our return to the South Coast. The team here could not have made me more welcome and I feel privileged to work alongside such a caring, dedicated, fun-loving bunch!

Outside of work, I have a very tolerant cat (who was handed into my first practice as a kitten and has moved around with us ever since) and young, very active children who keep me out of mischief. I look forward to introducing them to water sports and skiing as they get older but for now cycling, exploring outdoors and getting together with friends is enough!

What is your favourite animal and why?
My favourite animal is a slow loris, they are super cute but they have a toxic bite.

What's the best animal name that you have come across?
The best animal name that I have come across was a cocker spaniel called Jarvis... ’Jarvis Cocker’.

What's the best aspect of working for Vets4Pets?
I have been working as head nurse here at Vets4Pets Gosport since March 2014. I thoroughly enjoy my role and being part of such a fantastic team. It’s very rewarding to see the growth and development of the practice. The aspect of my job that I enjoy the most is training the student veterinary nurses and of course the unlimited cuddles with the animals, there is no better therapy than a kitty cuddle. Veterinary nursing is a great career as no one day is the same. It is very fulfilling!

I have a one year old albino African pygmy hedgehog. He is a little boy called Hickles.

What’s the best animal name that you have come across?
Amelia Pond just like out of Dr Who.

Stacey Crowfoot Vets4Pets Gosport

Stacey Crowfoot RVN

Registered Veterinary Nurse

What is your favourite animal and why?
I don’t have a favourite. I love my cat but one day I want a dog or two... A house feels like home with an animal to look after and greet you when you walk through the door.

What pets do you have at home and what are their names?
I have a cat called Loki. Those of you who know me may have heard a story or two about her naughty antics! Typical naughty tortie but I wouldn’t change her.

What’s the best animal name that you have come across?
Francis Bacon! She was a micro pig who grew to 17kg and she did tricks like a dog.

What’s the best aspect of working at Vets4Pets?
Doing different things every day and never knowing how the day will pan out. It could look (dare I say) ‘quiet’ but it never turns out that way. There is always something new to learn about keeping me interested in my job.

Katherine Town- V4P Gosport

What's your favourite animal and why?
I normally prefer cats to dogs but if I had to pick just one animal I would pick the Rottweiler. They are loving, highly intelligent and are one of the most misrepresented breeds I know of.

What pets do you have at home and what are their names?
A neurotic little cat called Gizmo who thinks the height of entertainment is chasing the end of a stick round and round and round and round...

What’s the best animal name that you have come across?
A cat called Schroedinger!

What’s the best aspect of working at Vets4Pets?
The staff- everybody is approachable, hard working and interesting, and I really enjoy being part of the team.

I have a rescue cat called Autumn. She came home for ‘one night’, now two years later she is in charge of the house! I also have a very fluffy naughty ginger cat called Faye.

What is the best aspect of working at Vets4Pets?
The team I work with! We work hard together and can rely on each other to give our patients the best care. There is never a day where you don’t learn in Veterinary. The cuddles with the animals are of course a big perk of the job!

Summer Spencer

Senior Receptionist

I started working at Gosport vets4pets in 2011 and I absolutely cannot see myself working anywhere else!

As part of the reception team my role is varied and includes client care, acting as a liaison between clinical staff and clients, a lot of cleaning and completing administration such as insurance claims or registering microchips.

What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job has to be the patients, getting to know them is a pleasure and getting to cuddle them just makes my day! I love that no two days are ever the same, you just never know what the next call is going to be!

Have you got any pets and what are they called
have a collie cross called Ben. He always greets me after work with suspicious sniffs. I think he gets a little jealous that I cuddle other pets at work.

What is your favourite animal?
Dogs, Narwhals and Beluga whales

What pets do you have at home and what are their names?
A labrador called Leia, Sprocker called Juno and some Fish.

What's the best thing about working at Vets4Pets?
Seeing the care that everyone puts in to looking after your animals, there is so much more that goes in to pet health care than people sometimes realise. This is not just a job for us. We are passionate about what we do and we all care about your pets as if they are our own.

What are your interests?
I love to make food, mostly cake and fresh pasta! I am an outdoors person and having dogs means that I can get outdoors every day. My dogs take up a huge part of my life and I love making the most of having time off, by taking regular holidays and weekends away! My bucket list travel destination is Hawaii and I'm hoping to go to Texas with my Husband in the near future!
