Vets4Pets Greenford

Meet the Greenford vet team

Greenford Vets4Pets Jana

Dr Jana Hornakova MVDr MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon and Owner

I qualified from Veterinary and Pharmaceutical University in BRNO, Czech Republic. My initial thoughts were to study human medicine, but as pets were a big part of my home life, the veterinary world became my professional choice. I have a particular interest in Internal Medicine, I enjoy the challenge of investigating and diagnosing conditions, followed by successful treatment of the pets, especially when tissue surgery is involved. In the future, I would like to gain a certificate in Internal Medicine, or imaging, as X-rays and ultrasound are another favourite of mine.

Outside of work, I am a keen violinist, and I love going to the theatre or watching a good film with my pet cat Mushka, who only has three legs; unfortunately her leg was missing already when I adopted her but she is now coping with life very well!

Head Veterinary Nurse

As head nurse at Vets4Pets Greenford, I enjoy all aspects of my work. Particularly caring for the animals and meeting the clients, I consider myself privileged to be in a position where I can genuinely assist people and resolve issues.

I have been in veterinary nursing for several years and qualified in 2009. I am always updating myself with new training and procedures and recently successfully completed a course to become a nutrition adviser. My experience allows me to contribute to the training of nursing assistants, guiding them through the learning stages, to become veterinary nurses.

Student Veterinary Nurse

I realised from a young age that I loved being around animals and taking care of them. I would always go along with my parents when any of my pets needed to go for their annual check-up at the vets. I have previously worked in Pets at Home for a couple of years and at another Vets4Pets practice prior to this. I have only ever owned cats but would love to one day have a large dog I can run around with. I also love Syrian hamsters and consider myself a bit of a hamster whisperer.

I joined the Vets4Pets Greenford team in the hope of developing my career and striving towards becoming a fully qualified veterinary nurse.

In my spare time, if I’m not taking care of my now elderly cats or catching up with my friends, you will probably find my riding my horse, Tiger-Lily, a middle-aged grey mare.

Veterinary Care Assistant

I have grown up with a variety of different pets which include, rabbits, cats and even stick insects. I find animals so interesting, I studied for a zoology degree at university and worked for over four years at Pets at Home. I enjoyed working closely with customers and their pets.

I join the team at Vets4Pets Greenford to expand my interest and knowledge further and to work towards becoming a full veterinary nurse in the future.

At home I have three cheeky Guinea pigs who love attention and two cats called Squiggle and Inky who we have to fight for space on the sofa as they adore stretching out and making themselves comfortable. Pets add a spice to life and fun everyday, and I couldn't image life without a furry friend. I love to read a good novel and I am a keen photographer.

Having previously worked in both Facilities and Hospitality, I have now joined Vets4Pets as a receptionist, I am enjoying the role and find it very interesting finding out so much about animal healthcare. I have grown up with a good knowledge of animals and have always had dogs.

I genuinely love being in a position where I can assist people and their pets. I work within a great team, who are really dedicated to the care of animals.

Outside of work, I enjoy travelling, walking and gardening.

I have worked in customer services for many years, both in the public and private sector.  I also have recent experience in retail.

I am also an ardent animal lover, having owned dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, a tortoise and a terrapin.  I am therefore delighted to have joined the team at Vets4Pets as a receptionist.  Meeting the clients and their pets and having lots of furry cuddles will, I am sure, be the best part of my new job.  I am looking forward to being part of a warm and friendly team who really care about people and their pets.

When I am not at work, I love the movies, music and food; both cooking it and eating it.  Having very recently lost my beloved dog of 14 years, I am very much looking forward to starting a big adventure with a new dog in the near future.
