Vets4Pets Hamilton

Meet the team

Julie JVP Hamilton

Julie McGarry - BVMS MRCVS

Veterinary surgeon & Joint Venture Partner

I graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 2003 and after a spell in small animal and equine work in the East Midlands, have worked exclusively in small animal practice for the last 10 years . Having grown up in Lanarkshire, I moved back closer to home in 2007. Having worked in both permanent and locum positions in practices in Central Scotland I am looking forward to setting up in Hamilton. I enjoy all aspects of small animal practice and have a particular interest in medicine cases and dentistry.

I have worked for Vets4Pets since June 2016, when I was employed as Lead Vet to open Vets4Pets in Falkirk. I enjoyed the challenge of starting this new business and look forward to opening my own practice in Hamilton and meeting all the new pets and their owners coming through our doors. I have a Labrador puppy called Luna whom you may see around the practice from time to time . I also have 3 cats called Rocky, Rambo and Jess and a Russian hamster called Murray (although this may need to become Sir Murray!).

When I’m not at work I enjoy walking, eating out and going to the cinema. I also enjoy holidays and following tennis, including visiting various tournaments both at home and abroad.

Veterinary surgeon

I am originally from the United States and moved to Scotland to study Veterinary Medicine at the University of Glasgow. After falling in love with Scotland and my now husband Sebastian, I decided I just couldn’t leave and made Glasgow my permanent home.

I have worked exclusively in small animal medicine. I love working with wee furries and have a keen interest in surgery. I’m really excited to be part of a brand new practice. I am looking forward to watching it grow and meeting all our new clients and their fur babies.

My husband and I have a rescue greyhound named Fenton who is a very lazy beast and a wee hamster named Olaf.

Outside of work I enjoy travelling, spending time with my family and friends, lounging around with Fenton, dancing and working out. Additionally, I love the outdoors, particularly water activities like swimming, surfing, fishing, snorkelling, and scuba diving.

Student Veterinary Nurse

I qualified as a Veterinary Care Assistant in May 2013 in Dumfries. I have worked in several practices and thoroughly enjoy my job. I have now been given the opportunity to progress to become a qualified Veterinary Nurse and I’m thoroughly enjoying my course and can’t wait to finally be qualified.

Out of work I have a rescue greyhound called Brady. My parents also have 2 rescue greyhounds called Sue and Storm, as I still live at home I spend a lot of my time with these 3 dogs at the parks and doing various rescue events with them.

I am looking forward to starting in the brand-new practice with amazing facilities. I am very excited to be meeting all of you and your adorable pets in the coming weeks and months.

Ruth Fitzpatrick

Registered Veterinary Nurse

I qualified from Edinburgh College in 2014. I have worked in various practices, including a primarily exotic based practice, but am excited to have finally settled down here at Vets4Pets.

I enjoy trips to the beach with Troy, my Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and Hercules, my long coat Chihuahua. Added to my furbaby family, are my rats Lilo and Missy, and my Russian dwarves Harley and Quinn.

It is a privilege to be working for the Vets4Pets group, which has allowed me to build a closer relationship with our furry VIP’s and their families.

My main hobby and way of keeping fit, is playing Laser Quest, but I like nothing more than a night on the couch watching Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead with my better half and the dogs.

I’m originally a professional musician, I toured for years, which I loved, but I’m happy to stay in one place now and couldn’t be happier to do that as part of the new Vets4Pets team in Hamilton.

I’m a Strathaven girl and was brought up around animals, but now just have my wee Netherland Dwarf rabbit, Oscar - he’s 8½ and still a wee character!

I started working as a veterinary receptionist in 2014 and have worked in both small animal and small animal/equine/farm practices. I love learning all about animals and love working with people too, so I’m really excited to be starting this new adventure with Vets4Pets with our wonderful team.

For the past 10 years I have worked at Dogs Trust but, have recently decided to try something new – it has to be animal related though as that’s what I love doing!

I am looking forward to being part of the new practice at Hamilton and watching it grow as we meet all our new clients and patients and getting to know them all.

I have 3 rescue dogs – an elderly Jack Russell called Bobby, a Golden Retriever called Tim and a young Retriever cross called Finlay. In my spare time we go away to the caravan a lot where we do a lot of walking and going to the beach as that’s the dogs favourite place.
