Denise Timms FDSc RVN

Registered Veterinary Nurse and Joint Venture Partner

I started veterinary nursing in 2008 in a small private practice and gained my degree in veterinary nursing from Brackenhurst in 2012. I have worked in first opinion and referral practices and have done out of hours emergency work since 2009 before starting with Vets4Pets Bulwell in 2014. In 2018 I became a practice partner of Hucknall, partnering in a veterinary practice has always been a lifelong dream.

I have learned a lot of skills in the time I have been nursing and enjoy continually furthering my education to improve my patient care. I have a very keen interest in schedule three procedures which is where nurses are able to perform minor surgeries such as lump removals and stitch ups, and this is something I regularly practice. I am also interested in pain management. I have attended education CPD events which have given me the knowledge to assess pain with the veterinary surgeon and discuses multimodal approaches to management, I am also trained in nerve blocks.

I enjoy Nurse Clinics where I get to meet our lovely patients but feel my favourite are senior clinics. I feel our senior pets have given us so much love and joy in our lives the care we give them in their older years when their needs change is extremely important. I am a trained pet health counsellor, diabetic advisor, and clinical coach for trainee veterinary nurses.

At home I have a cat Cosmic Creepers, Two cocker spaniels Rogue and Binx and a horse Ross. In my spare time I enjoy long country walks with the dogs and regularly am out competing my horse.

Veterinary Surgeon

I am a Veterinary Surgeon from Spain, I qualified in 2014. Shortly after finishing my degree I had the opportunity to come to the UK to work as a veterinary surgeon and stayed here since.

I have worked for Vet4Pets for the last 3 years, giving me opportunity to improve my Medical, Surgical and animal welfare skills.

I have a special interest in Emergency and Critical care, that’s why I am studying a postgraduate course about this field at the moment.

Waiting for me at home I have a little rescued canary called Billy, but I do love to foster cats in need of new homes when the opportunity comes.

Client Care Advisor

I have worked for Vets4Pets Hucknall since the opening in October 2018. I really enjoy my job. Every day is different and it is a very rewarding role meeting and helping clients with their beloved animals. I have two dogs Lola who is a 7 year old Staffordshire Bullterrier and Bella a 2 year old British Bulldog x Staffordshire Bullterrier. I am the first face you will meet when you walk through our doors, and I hope to make it as friendly and pleasant a visit as is possible. All the staff at Hucknall are very friendly, helpful and compassionate in all situations. I am so lucky to be part of such a great team.

Client Care Advisor

I have recently started at Vets4pets as a Client Care Advisor in October 2018, after 14 years in the energy industry I was ready and excited to take on this new role and I have to say I love coming to work. I am enjoying meeting all the clients and their pets already, listening to stories of what everyone's pets get up to.

At home there is my husband Aaron, our 2 daughters Tayla and Millie- Rae, and Mabel our 1 year old Border cross Lakeland terrier.

I enjoy family days, long walks and being out in the fresh air.
