Vets4Pets Kettering

Meet the Kettering vet team

Chris Willis BVSc MRCVS

Practice Partner and Head Veterinary Surgeon

Chris qualified as a Vet in Sydney in 1998 and moved to the UK to in 2001 enhance his veterinary skills and has never looked back. Chris was hugely proud to open Kettering Vets4Pets in December 2009 in partnership with Sarah, and strongly believes that having both Vet and Veterinary Nurse Partners at the helm works well for our patients. Chris has a keen interest in small animal surgery with a particular slant towards orthopaedic work (take a look at our interesting cases on our website to find out a bit more about some of our work).

Chris also has interest in dermatology (all things skin related) and rabbit medicine and surgery. As well as being very gadget minded Chris in his spare time enjoys DIY and he has an ambition to “go green” with alternative sources of energy supplies and have no utility bills to pay!

Chris has a vast menagerie of pets although he wishes everyone to know that his foot is now firmly down and there will be no more added..... Until next time!

Sarah Scott

Practice Partner and Veterinary Nurse

What is your favourite animal and why?
Dogs, truly amazing animals, not only are they the best companions ever they can be trained to help us in 101 different ways. I also have a special interest in nursing small furries.

What pets do you have and what are their names?
The most amazing dog called Gracie, family rescue dogs Callie and Poppy, two rescue chinchillas Samba and Lola, one rescue gerbil Samuel Pepysiboy, three tortoises Georgie, Terminator and (Christopher) Columbus, and a tank full or assorted fish and shrimp. In truth all of the pets belong to my little girl, hence the interesting names some of them have! Lucy is hoping that we continue to add to our menagerie!

What's the best pet name that you've ever come across? 'Braveheart biteshard' a ferocious little hamster where never has a name been for apt!

What is your favourite famous animal?
Greyfriars Bobby.

What's the best aspect of working for Vets4Pets?
As a nurse partner I get the chance to put a very important stamp on how the business is run, not an opportunity that a lot of veterinary nurse get. Hopefully the input shows in not only in the high standard of patient care we give, but also how we look after our clients too.

Heather Perry BVSc MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Heather is originally from South Africa, and qualified as a Vet in Pretoria in 1991. She moved to the UK in 1998 and has stayed in the Kettering area ever since. Heather has a keen interest in small animal medicine, clinical pathology and diagnostic imaging so really enjoys putting our wonderful high tech colour Doppler ultrasound scanner to good use!

Heather enjoys meeting our clients and getting to know their pets. Outside of work Heather can often be seen on her bike as she enjoys cycling in all its guises! She also finds the time for Pilates, music, reading and needlework.

Laura Smart VetMB BA MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Laura joined the practice in 2014, having qualified from Cambridge University in 2012. Laura has really enjoyed joining our practice and has been able to extend her veterinary knowledge learning from both Chris and Heather. Laura loves building up relations with our clients and looks forward to meeting all their pets. Laura enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and she also has a particular interest in Feline Medicine. As you can see from the photo Laura adores cats!

As well as owning Indi she also has a 4year old gerbil called Mitch! Laura has just bought her own home in Kettering and is really happy to be settling down here. In her spare time Laura enjoys baking cakes (this makes her a firm favourite with the team!) and she has just started archery! She enjoys reading and horror films, and like the rest of the nursing team she HATES spiders!

Kay Sandford

Head Receptionist

Kay joined us in September 2014 from a customer support and training background. Kay quickly settled into her receptionist role here, she really loves her job and meeting all our clients and pets.

Kay now leads our team of receptionists and endeavours to ensure that all our clients get the same friendly service and care that she prides herself on.

Kay's favourite animals are cats, she has 4 of her own to keep her very busy at home, along with her son who is also mad about animals and even volunteers to help on our fun days.

Maria Steeper

Maria joined our reception team in 2015 following a career maternity break to have her gorgeous daughter Megan.

Maria's favourite animals are dogs and she has the most gorgeous German Shepherd dog called Penny. Maria has enjoyed getting to know our clients and patients, she's always keen to pop around the other side of the desk to greet our patients and have cuddles.
