Meet the Kirkcaldy vet team

Vets4Pets Kirkcaldy Lucanne Perry

Registered Veterinary Surgeon & Joint Venture Partner

After I graduated from the Royal Dick Veterinary College in 2009, I worked as a small animal Vet alongside Heather when she was a trainee Nurse. In the past I have worked as a locum in many different practices across the country which has challenged me and broadened my experiences greatly both personally and professionally. This experience allowed me to gain insight into new techniques and how different practices can work, as well as expanding my main areas of interest in surgery, dentistry & emergency/critical care. I always put in great effort to achieving any goal I set myself which allowed me to become a Joint Venture Partner at my favourite locum practice here in Kirkcaldy in 2014. I think it is extremely important to form trusting and sympathetic relationships with my clients and I always strive to strengthen these bonds to provide the best possible care for both my patients and their owners. At home I enjoy going walking with my Shelties, Struan & Logan, caring for my 3-legged rescue bunny, Hutch, and being entertained by my feisty yet lovable cat, Phoenix. I have a passion for music and love going to live concerts and festivals, as well as spending time with my crazy friends and family!

Heather RVN

Registered Veterinary Nurse & Joint venture partner

Since qualifying as a Veterinary Nurse from Edinburgh's Telford College in January 2011 and joining the Vets4Pets team when we first opened in November of that year, I have gained confidence in the new skills I have developed. I am thrilled to have taken on the exciting role as a Joint Venture Partner in 2014. I love having the opportunity to meet and provide care to all the new faces that come in to see us on a daily basis. I have a special interest in animal behaviour and the nursing of small furries - which I am sure comes from being the owner of two cheeky guinea pigs, Moss and Lily, a fun loving cat called Maude and Churro, a crazy Chihuahua. In my spare time I enjoy a variety of activities ranging from socialising, cycling and gym-going, to crafts, knitting and baking!

Veterinary Surgeon

I qualified from Bristol University in 2013 and since have worked in Banff and Cornwall as a James Heriot style, all creatures great and small, Vet. Since moving to Edinburgh I have been locuming until I found the right place to stop. Kirkcaldy Vets4pets is home to a team that truly puts the patients first and believes in serving their clients to the best of their ability. Sharing these values, I am delighted to be part of the team. I love the variety the job offers but I especially enjoy medical consultations, providing good end of life care and also acupuncture- if your old dog or cat has creaky joints then do get in touch! Outside of work my boys keep me busy. I have a retired Greyhound, a Springer-cross and a Jack Russell-cross that have adopted me along the way! When not with them I enjoy live music, reading and surfing.

Client Service Manager

I joined Vets4Pets in Kirkcaldy in September 2016 as a receptionist and I’m loving being back to work in a role I genuinely feel passionate about. Working alongside the team in Kirkcaldy has been great, they have welcomed me with open arms and made me feel part of an awesome team. I have recently been given a new role within the practice as Client Service Manager which I absolutely love; a role that involves a lot of administration duties but still enables me to get to know our clients & their pets which I really enjoy. One of my favourite parts of my job is seeing all the young ones that come into our Puppy Classes on a Friday evening; watching them all run around together, getting to know each other is so much fun! I also enjoy giving clients advice on diet & nutrition and helping with any other questions they may have. I have a 3 year old crazy German Shorthaired Pointer called Sam who can walk for miles! I love watching him run around in the woods & trees, stopping to“ Point “ at anything that moves!

Veterinary Surgeon (Intern)

I am a Spanish Vet graduated from Alfonso X el Sabio in 2010. I have been working as a Science teacher in schools in Madrid since then. In 2015 I got married and moved to Scotland so I decided to go back to Vetty work. I have been working as a Meat Hygiene Inspector in food plants for a few months but I was looking forward to going back into practice as it’s my real vocation and I love animals. I was so lucky to join Vets4Vets Kirkcaldy in November 2016 as an Veterinary Intern. I am learning a lot of knowledge and skills, and I’m looking forward to gaining more confidence. The team is nice and are helping me a lot, even with my English lessons, so it’s been a great experience both personally and professionally! Once I’ve completed my Internship, I will move to Perth Vets4Pets so I really will miss this practice. At home I love being with my 1 year old baby, travelling with my husband, painting and reading - I am a huge fan of Harry Potter! We miss our families in Spain but we love this country and the people here are lovely so we are really enjoying this adventure!

Registered Veterinary Nurse

I graduated from Edinburgh in 2012 and started working at Vets4Pets Kirkcaldy in January 2017. I have an interest in exotic animals & wildlife and travel to Africa every year to volunteer with wildlife vets. I have worked on rhino, elephants, lions, leopards, giraffe, buffalo, zebra and primates. I am currently studying an Advanced Certificate in Emergency & Critical Care and would like to complete the Certificate in Exotics & Wildlife afterwards. In my spare time I enjoy hillwalking, socialising with family & friends and travelling the world. I live in the countryside with my partner and our Golden Retriever, Marley and kitten, Malaika.

Student Veterinary Nurse

I joined the team in 2015 as a Veterinary Care Assistant and I am now studying to become a Veterinary Nurse and enjoy many aspects of the job. I love seeing and looking after all your pets when visiting the surgery and I am always there to give our inpatients a little cuddle. My house is ruled by my three cats; Alfie, Jinxy and Sooty. I also have a Border Collie named Aleu who comes to work with me every day. She has the important role of kiss giver, toy tester and food moocher. On my days off I love being outdoorsy; beach walking, hiking and hill climbing and I plan to climb Ben Nevis in 2017. I am also a champion couch potato and love nothing more than watching a season...or two…or three on Netlflix.

Veterinary Care Assistant

After moving to Edinburgh in the new year of 2016, I was happy to accept a Veterinary Care Assistant role with the team at Vets4Pets. Since graduating with my Zoology degree in 2003, I have enjoyed working in the veterinary care sector with many practices over the years and I hope to further my knowledge with the opportunities and responsibilities I have been given here by working towards becoming a qualified Veterinary Nurse. I have a specific interest in building a rapport with clients and giving advice on everything from training and behaviour, feeding, basic care and first aid, and I love seeing the results of the owners' efforts. In my spare time I make jewellery and customise clothing as well as painting commissions and generally being artsy! I am also an avid fan of Ru Paul's Drag Race and follow the best queens around the UK!

Veterinary Care Assistant

I joined the Vets4Pets team in Kirkcaldy in 2013 and have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. My aim is always to provide a friendly welcome as well as great service for new and existing clients and their pets. After studying NC and HNC Animal care, I knew I wanted to work in a veterinary environment where I know animals are treated with the best possible care. Recently I have made the move from reception to clinical staff, undertaking an online Veterinary Care Assistant course with The College of Animal Welfare. I am currently working full time and studying but I really enjoy it and love being more involved with the animals we see here. I have three cats at home, Sooty and Sophie who are 17 and Slinky who is 1. I rescued Slinky when she came into the practice as a very malnourished little stray and couldn’t resist taking her home when she recovered. I enjoy socialising with friends and family and my partner and I are looking forward to moving into our first home together in February.

Since joining the Vets4Pets Kirkcaldy team as a receptionist I have learned lots of new knowledge and skills which assist me in providing the best possible service to our clients. Client care is extremely important to me and at work I enjoy getting to know both regular and new clients. I aim to build relationships with all clients to ensure that their visit runs as smoothly as possible. As well as building relationships with clients, I especially like meeting all of the furry faces - getting lots of puppy cuddles is definitely a perk of the job! I am particularly interested in nutrition and enjoy answering client’s questions about their pet’s diet and assisting them to find a diet which suits their pet’s individual needs. At home, I enjoy socialising with my friends and family and love to eat out.

I joined the vets4pets team in Kirkcaldy in December 2016 and since then I have already gained many new skills and knowledge which helps me in my role as receptionist. I love working alongside all the different pets that come in to see us every day – as I have a strong love for animals. I am also working towards a Business Admin Apprenticeship with the help of the practice! I have two crazy cats named Dougal and Milly who are both treated like babies and are absolutely spoiled. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with friends and family and going out with my new camera taking scenic pictures. I also enjoying baking even though I am not very good at it!

I joined Vets4Pets in April 2017 and it is a pleasure to be part of such a friendly, helpful team. With a background in aquatic and Herpetology husbandry I am enjoying branching out to the furry side of animal care. I have always had a love for animals of all shapes and sizes and hope to be more involved in care in the future. I am into fitness and fill my spare time running with my dogs and the occasional obstacle course.
