David and Elsa both graduated from the Royal Veterinary College and following a short stint working in London, they moved up to Yorkshire. David started working for Leeds Vets4Pets and Elsa in a multidisciplinary veterinary hospital. They left in late 2015 to travel the world visiting India, South East Asia and Australasia. After arriving back they both settled back into their jobs and planned their family and future here in Leeds. They became partners in Leeds Vets4Pets in November 2017 opening up Leeds Colton Vets4Pets in January 2018 alongside John, Hilary and Lauren. The time had definitely come for a new challenge and the opportunity to work alongside each other and the other partners seemed like the perfect antidote. David loves interacting with both clients and patients alike and carries interests in general surgery, soft tissue surgery and ophthalmology into his job. In recent months he has also had the pleasure of changing the quality of life for brachiocephalic dogs through preforming BOAS surgery. Elsa has particular interests in dermatology and rabbit medicine so she finds working with Pets at Home looking after their small furries particularly enjoyable. Out of work, David finds sport a great release from the daily commute. He partakes in team sports, golf, running, cycling and competes in triathlons against John (and others of course). In Elsa’s free time she enjoys pottery, Yoga and visiting her friends and family. The rest of their time is split between tearing around after their highly active daughter and son as well as our cats Senior Worm the 3rd of Masseyville and Councillor Maureen Mitten the Street-Cat Kitten.

I qualified from Glasgow University in 2001. I initially worked on the Foot and Mouth Epidemic, based in Ripon, and then went into mixed practice near John's home town of Sudbury in Suffolk. After a year of this John and I decided to see the world and work as locum veterinary surgeons as we went. This gave us a wealth of experience, not only in challenging medical and surgical cases, but working with animals and people from many different walks of life. Looking after donkeys in Mexico, and stray dogs in Thailand certainly made us realise how privileged we are to have the standard of veterinary care that the United Kingdom can offer. We settled in Yorkshire in 2004, having fallen in love with the countryside and the people during our time helping farmers during the Foot and Mouth crisis. I like all aspects of general practice and love the varied interaction with all of our patients and clients. My main interest is medical work ups, especially complicated cases! At home, I enjoy family time with our 2 young boys, and our little black and white 12 year old crossbreed Mali (who you may see scamper in behind mewhen we come to work). After starting and growing Leeds Vets4Pets, John and I have expanded our family to cover East Leeds with Leeds Colton Vets4Pets where we willassist in a lot of the behind the scenes work.

After my graduation in 2016 at UTAD, I began my career working in a small animal practice in my home country, Protugal. I traveled to England for an opportunity to work in a mixed vet practice in which I stayed for another 2 years until joining Vets4Pets team in 2021. Since then, I've adopted two rabbits, grumpy Tony and extremely friendly Oscar, and I've developed a keen interest in rabbit medicine, as well as in dentistry and endocrinology. Outside work, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my partner - either doing some sort of sport like mountain biking or climbing, or just getting busy in my garden while entertaining the bunnies!

I graduated from UCD, Ireland, in 2014, and have been working in Britain since 2017. I enjoy all aspects of first opinion practice, but my greatest interest is in cardiac problems. I am currently coming near the end of my Certificate studies in Cardiology, and I hope that this will help me provide even more help for all of the small hearts coming in through our door! Outside of work, I have 2 young kids and a partner, and we currently care for a little hedgehog named Sonic that could not survive in the wild. For a hobby, I compete in powerlifting, and have represented Ireland at European and World Championships in the past.

I graduated in 2003 and have always thrived in first opinion practice. After realising that skin and ear disease affected so many of our furry family members I completed my certificate in veterinary dermatology in 2021. I love the variety of cases we see, and value  our privileged role in the relationship between owners and their pets. I have a terrier cross, Pepper, and a grumpy old cat, Jaffaroo, at home.

I’ve been working in the veterinary industry since 2010 and qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2017. You never know what to expect in our job and it is really rewarding when you can be a part of nursing a poorly pet back to health and with a happy owner as well.  I really enjoy the practical aspects of being a nurse such as taking and processing laboratory samples but enjoy having a chat with owners and fussing their pets the most.

I don’t have any of my own pets at the moment but I’m sure when my daughter is a bit older we’ll start to build a collection of small furries, preferably crazy haired guinea pigs!

I have been working for Colton Vets4Pets since July 2020 as a Student Veterinary Nurse and am hoping to become a Registered Veterinary Nurse on completion of my studies at Askham Bryan College. Previously I completed an Advanced Technical Diploma in Equine Management. Whilst studying I had the opportunity to volunteer for 2 weeks at a veterinary practice and donkey sanctuary in Aruba which made it clear that veterinary nursing was the career for me.

I have always loved all animals and enjoy meeting various pets each day at the practice. Outside of work and studies I enjoy riding and caring for my Horse as well as walking my cockapoo Poppy.

My love for animals started at a very young age, our house has always been full of fur.

I have worked within the veterinary industry since 2019, but started volunteering and gaining experience in my early teens.

I started working at Vets4Pets Colton in April 2021, starting as a Veterinary Care Assistant and I am now a Student Veterinary Nurse and loving every second.
I studied Animal Behaviour and Welfare at both college and university and went to South Africa to volunteer with the African wildlife.
I have 3 rescue babies at home; Winnie, Chester and Nitty Nora (she is the main feature of my picture). She was brought into the practice as a stray and has many ongoing health issues, but I fell in love, took her home and just look at her now.
The thing I love about this job is that no two days are the same, and to work along side such amazing vets and nurses is an absolute honour.
Outside of work I like to go on adventures in my converted van with my little dog Winnie. We like to put our walking boots on and explore new places together.

I am especially passionate about rats. Outside of work I enjoy gaming and exploring the Yorkshire countryside with my rescue jug (JRT x Pug) Sully.

I joined the team at Colton in August 2022 as a Veterinary Care Assistant, after changing my career path from primary school teaching. I am now a Student Veterinary Nurse, this was the best decision I have ever made and I’ve never been happier.

I grew up in the Lake District surrounded by all sorts of animals, I spent plenty of time around farm and wild animals along with household pets. I used to spend my free time volunteering at my local animal shelter helping with all the animals in their care. I currently have 3 whippet boys at home. Crumpet, Alfonso and Mr Badger, all of whom I adore so much.

Outside of work I enjoy competing with my cheerleading team, we recently became 3x National and Grand Champions! I also love to go and see musical theatre shows all over the country.

I started working at Colton Vets4Pets in July 2023 as a Veterinary Care Assistant with view to becoming a Student Nurse in September 2024. It's been a big transition after predominately working in hospitality all my life but I already feel its been my best one yet.  Previously I have volunteered at an animal sanctuary where they rescue mainly large animals and birds, currently I own my own horse called Phoenix who is a Warmblood chestnut mare and a chocolate Labrador called Stella.

Outside of work I spend most my time caring for and riding Phoenix but also enjoy socialising with friends and family, baking and eating and drinking out.

After being a human Nurse for the past 6 years, I decided that I wanted to change paths to something I’m really passionate about…Animals!

I started working at Vets4Pets in August 2023 and I’m so happy I did. The team are incredibly supportive and truly care about the welfare of every pet that comes through the doors. I will hopefully be starting my Vet Nurse training next year.

I love to spend my spare time with my husband Tom and my handsome, long boy, Jet (as seen my picture)! I also enjoy gardening, baking and going to as many concerts as I can.

I have worked at Colton Vets4Pets since November 2020 and since moved to Leeds from my home town in Doncaster to be closer to work. I love my job and this practice means a whole lot to me! I am so pleased to work with such a kind-hearted and devoted team. I especially love working with my sister ( our head nurse) who makes me proud every day.

Animals and their welfare is of upmost importance to me and I would like to think my role here at the practice helps my team, our clients and beloved patients as much as possible. In my free time I enjoy chilling out with my cats, Soba and Sushi, playing video games, reading poetry and dreaming of the day I have a dog of my own; His name will be Soy-Sauce.

I started working at Colton Vets4Pets in September 2019 as a receptionist.

I love working with, and around animals and have done so for around the last 14 years within the veterinary profession.

At present I have a Shih Tzus, Ted who is a real character and he makes me smile on a daily basis.

We would like to extend a warm welcome from our family-run veterinary practice to you, your pets, and your family.  We are very pleased to be given the opportunity to assist you with any advice, support and veterinary treatment that your pets may require and we hope to build a long and valuable relationship with you and your pets.

Although we are here to provide care to sick and injured pets, we would like to emphasise that we see keeping healthy pets healthy, as an equally, if not more, important role as a veterinary practice. Whether it be your pet’s routine vaccinations, check-ups and medication reviews or supporting yourself and beloved pet through a difficult time.

Our friendly, knowledgeable team have a wealth of experience with over 60 years’ experience within the team. We aim to provide consistency and reliability to our patients and clients to make your experience with us leave a lasting impression of care, dedication and passion for what we do.

We present a modern, air-conditioned, clean and well equipped practice along with a range of services to offer such as our surgical theatre, in house laboratory and cytology, X-ray, ultrasound and top of the range anaesthetic monitoring equipment. The patients we have the pleasure of taking care of during their day-time hospitalisation have a secure and spacious area to feel safe in. We have separate dog, cat and exotic wards and our generous reception allows animals of all species and sizes to feel comfortable as a result of our separate dog and cat waiting areas.

We are an accredited ISFM cat friendly, RWAF rabbit friendly and Dogs Trust Dog friendly practice and we pride ourselves for our patience, adaptability and empathy with our patients. We treat each and every animal in our care as one of our own. We understand each individual has their needs and we value their boundaries and are able to adapt protocols to suit individual patients.

Our incredible team are utilised for their strengths and qualifications; we provide a variety of specialist consultations and procedures from dermatology referrals to BOAS surgery for our brachycephalic family members.

We are an RCVS accredited General Practice. This is a four-yearly accreditation scheme where the practice and its protocols are rigorously inspected to make sure we are delivering exceptional care to our patients and investing in our team. Our outcome in the latest inspection was excellent.

We are an RCVS accredited teaching practice for both aspiring veterinary surgeons and nurses and have strong links with both local training colleges and veterinary universities alike. Our practice assures all staff are given adequate training for their role along with offers of more extensive training to develop their knowledge further. We keep up to date with latest regulations, studies and protocols to allow us to provide the most modern and current medical and surgical care possible. Where cases lie outside of our capabilities we are have to refer to local referral centres where we have built up strong links with their teams to deliver continued exceptional care.

Although the delivery of high quality veterinary care can be costly, we endeavour to maintain reasonable and competitive prices. We are able to adapt treatment options to suit budgets and desires and will happily talk you through our pet care plan options to assist you in saving money where possible. For costs that lie outside of these we strongly believe in pet insurance and can guide you to the best information in this matter.

We are very proud of our family-run and owned practice that opened in January 2018 and we hope it is apparent from your first visit or phone call to our clinic how highly we value our relationships with both owners and their pets, and the high standards of quality care that our patients receive.

Our gold accredited flexible working practice is purpose-built to provide state of the art veterinary care for your pets. Appointments with veterinary surgeons and nurses are available throughout the day for your convenience and we endeavour to keep these running to time.  Outside of our normal working hours our clients have access to a dedicated veterinary emergency service which is continually manned by both veterinary surgeons and nurses.

Our consulting times:

Mon - Fri - 09:00-19:00

Sat - 10:00-17:00

Sun - 11:00-16:00

Consultations by appointment only during these times. In case of an emergency please ring first for further advice and to allow the team to prepare.

An additional weekend surcharge of £47 will apply to unregistered clients. This will be taken over the phone to secure the appointment.

Please text our WhatsApp on 07360 271108 for none urgent enquiries such as ordering medications and parasite prevention, booking none-urgent appointments, and sharing other information. Please be aware this is NOT an emergency service and reply times may vary. We will aim to respond to your message within 72 hours. If your request is urgent, please call the team directly on 0113 390 9093.

Outside of normal consulting hours, veterinary care can be accessed through Leeds Birstall Vets4Pets, WF17 9AD, on 01924 441144.

If you are interested in a brief tour of the practice please ask any of our colleagues who will be happy to organise this for you.

We look forward to taking care of your pets!

We are extremely proud to have been awarded a Gold standard flexible working place through the Flexee scheme for both our practices.

We aim to help all our team achieve the work life balance that they desire and need, whether it be working around childcare, co-existing interests or a desire to work part time hours. We don’t fit our new starters into a pre-existing rota but look to work the existing rota around them, so it mutually benefits both the practice and the colleague to make it more sustainable.

Our team are empowered to make decisions for themselves and are proud to work at Vets for Pets Leeds Colton. We hope that this award highlights our exceptional ways of working and supports us in growing our team. For information on current vacancies, click here.
