Vets4Pets Liverpool Old Swan

Meet the Liverpool Old Swan Vet team

Dr. Alex McCormack - Maternity Leave

Veterinary Surgeon

I'm originally from Surrey but have been loving life in Liverpool since 2006. I arrived for university and never wanted to go home. After graduating from The University of Liverpool (for the second time) in 2014, I worked for almost a year in Manchester doing small animal and exotic work in a busy 24 hour hospital.

I joined Vets4Pets in Old Swan in June 2015 and have enjoyed meeting all the clients and patients. Clinically my interests are exotic pets, surgery and canine behaviour. Outside of work I enjoy cooking and baking, going on adventures with my husband and spend a lot of time trying to tire out my little fox red Labrador, Amber.

Dr. Chloe Hughes

Veterinary Surgeon

I qualified from the University of Nottingham and began working at Liverpool Vets4Pets in June 2015. I had undertaken many placements at the practice as a vet student over the previous few years so was excited to join the team and get to know all of our lovely clients. I have always had a keen interest in small animal practice, particularly in soft tissue surgery and ophthalmology. At home I have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel called Luke and a cat called Pudsey.

Ewa Baranska MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

I qualified in 2016 in University of Life Sciences in Poland. I worked in Poland for couple of months, and then started my great British adventure. I moved to UK, worked in Southport for half a year and finally, in May 2017, I joined Vets4Pets practice, where I’ve stayed until present day. During my studies I worked as a volunteer and then veterinary assistant in Sheller for Homeless animals, I did work experience in veterinary practices, hospitals and research centres and took part in Erasmus Programme in Universita di Pisa, Italy.

I really enjoy working in Vets4Pets and I find everyone here very welcoming. I am really happy to meet all our clients and of course, their four legged friends. I enjoy all aspects of my work but I have a special interest in dermatology and rabbit medicine. I have a rabbit, Timon, who stole my heart three years ago and since then is my loyal, little friend.

Vet, traveller and martial artist – my perfect day includes animals, kung fu training, and planning (or departing on) another journey. Oh, and a cup of strong coffee as well. Apart from that I am keen on writing, drawing, running and everything that keeps me active and busy.

Veterinary Surgeon

I am originally from Canada, but have enjoyed working in the UK since November 2016. I graduated from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Kosice Slovakia in June 2016 and started my career doing international aid work with homeless animals at clinics in Nicaragua and Nepal. I worked at a first opinion practice in London for a year before moving up North in February 2018. I am passionate about small animal medicine and have special interests in dermatology and ophthalmology. Can you also tell that I also have a passion for travelling.

When I’m not working I enjoy spending time walking my dog “Roma” in the woods and snuggling with my cat “Squid” on the couch.

I have been working in the veterinary industry since 2003 and I qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2008. I joined Vets4Pets Old Swan the year we opened in 2010.

I have a son called Charlie who is my cheeky monkey and we also have an Alsatian called Jossy. My favourite breeds of dog are Belgium Malanois and Alsatians. I would love to have a house full of them along with a pug called Carlos!

I enjoy medical nursing and emergency and critical care in which I am currently completing a certificate for.

Veterinary Nurse

I qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2002. Following that I took a break from nursing to go to university to study graphic design. I returned to nursing in 2016 and before joining the vets4pets team in August 2017, I volunteered as a Veterinary Nurse at the PDSA for 8 months.

I really enjoy working at Vets4Pets Old Swan, we have a lovely, friendly team here and wonderful clients and patients. I love looking after all the animals that come in to our care at the surgery and meeting our clients with their pets in our nurse clinics.

At home I have have two rescue cats called Missy and Zelda and a bearded dragon called Brian. When I am not at Vets4Pets I am usually working at home as a freelance graphic designer and taking my two sons freerunning.

Practice Manager

I have been working for Vets4Pets for 3 years. Previously I worked for over 30 years in retail and business management. It’s a really enjoyable job working with such a dedicated team and I get to meet lots of our patients as well, which is another aspect of the job I really enjoy. I have a cat called Miya and my son has a Rabbit called Peanut. My daughter has a Pug called Lilo who often comes to visit me.

Jodie Christmas old Swan.jpg

Jodie Christmas

Client Service Manager

I have worked for Vets4Pets since mid 2016. I moved over to Old Swan in September 2017 on a temporary basis and after a short while, I was asked to stay and I'm glad that I did. I've always worked in admin but one of my dreams has been to work around animals so this, to me, is the best of both worlds.

I have three dogs, Oona, Numey and Floki. Two cats, Hercules and Lolaus and I also foster dogs and cats on occasion for re-homing centres and animal charities local to where I live. If it were up to me, I'd be living on a farm with lots of land and spend my days taking care of many more animals.

After visiting Sea World in Florida as a teenager, I informed my careers advisor that I wanted to be a dolphin trainer. I was informed that there isn't much call for a dolphin trainer in the North of England so to perhaps keep thinking.....luckily I kept thinking.

Hannah Bentley

Client Care Co-ordinator

After finishing my degree I began working for the NHS and stayed there for 10 years. Recently I fancied a change and applied for a job at Vets4Pets. I have always loved animals and have recently been volunteering at the RSPCA in Halewood, which was really fun! I am really enjoying working at Vets4Pets and find it very interesting. I love meeting all the pets and their owners. I'm a huge movie fan, especially horror films, and in my spare time I like going to the cinema and I love swimming. I live with one of my friends and my 4 year old cat, Lottie, who pretty much rules the roost!! I also have 2 other cats, Oscar and Indy, who live at my parents house and I visit them whenever I get a chance.

Faye Collins old swan.jpg

Faye Collins

Client Care Co-ordinator

I joined the Vets4Pets team in June 2017 as a Client Care Advisor. I previously worked as a Pet Department Manager for 17 years and have an interest in Rabbits, Guinea Pigs and Syrian Hamsters. Alongside working in Old Swan Vets4Pets I am currently training to become a Counsellor, and would like to eventually specialise in Pet Bereavement Counselling. I have been involved with horses for over 30 years, which I am currently taking a break from but hope to return to in the future.

My favourite part of working as a Client Care Co-ordinator is getting to know all of our lovely Patients and their Owners, and having lots of doggy kisses and cuddles every day that I am in work.

I only have one pet at home- a 13 year old black cat called AJ who keeps me entertained every day.
