Llanelli Vets4Pets Liz

Liz Blackwell M.A. B.Vet. Med MRCVS

Owner and Veterinary Surgeon

I qualified from Cambridge in 1989 and have spent 20 years in practice working in Wood Green Animal Shelters, Barry and Bridgend.

I have many animals; dogs, cats, pigs, sheep, turkeys, guinea pigs, rabbits, ducks, chickens, ferrets, a hamster, pigeons, peacocks and 2 donkeys - all of which are pets because I’m a vegetarian! When I’m not in work I enjoy knitting, reading, sewing, gardening and Egyptology.

Llanelli Vets4Pets Nicky

Nicky Townsend BVSc, MRCVS

Owner and Veterinary Surgeon

Before opening Llanelli Vets4Pets I worked alongside Liz at the Swansea surgery for 5 years after qualifying from Liverpool University.

I have four dogs (two springer spaniels, a Welsh terrier and a border terrier), seven cats (two of which I hand-reared and the others were all once strays), numerous hamsters, nine rabbits, two guinea pigs and a chinchilla. I'm assisted in looking after all these animals by my young daughter, Erin. In my free time I also enjoy geo-caching, baking, gardening, sewing, knitting and crochet.

Rebecca Gammon RVN

Registered Veterinary Nurse

I have been working with animals for over 10 years and qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2008. I also qualified as a clinical coach in 2015 which means I train future veterinary nurses.

I have a strong interest in cat behaviour. This has come in very useful with my three legged cat Gwen who I adopted from the surgery after she came in as a badly injured stray. Outside of work I enjoy learning about history and travelling , which I try to group together as often as possible.

Julie Williams RVN

Registered Veterinary Nurse

I qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2012 from Abbeydale.

At home I have an 18 year old cat called Arianna and a Syrian hamster called Boomer. My first language is Welsh. In my spare time I love to read and spend time in the garden. I'm also developing a keen interest in photography.

Jessica Robinson

Student Veterinary Nurse

I joined Vets4Pets Llanelli in 2015 as a receptionist and started training as a veterinary nurse shortly afterwards. Before working here I worked as a wildlife guide on board boat trips in Pembrokeshire. I have a love of sea birds and cetaceans and I regularly volunteer for the RSPB.

At home I have a very friendly house rabbit called Armstrong and a Degu called Diego. Both of them I have adopted from the surgery and I'm sure there will be many more in future!
