Meet the team

Amie Hanks.png

Amie Hanks

BVetMed PgC SAS Cert AnBeh MRCVS

Practice Director

Joined the Practice in 2010.

I qualified from the RVC in 2007 gaining my BVetMed MRCVS. Since then I have gained further qualifications in animal behaviour, acupuncture and small animal surgery.

I became Practice Director at Oadby in 2012, and have also helped set up another two Vets4Pets clinics in Rugby. I genuinely enjoy the variety that working in general practice brings along with the additional challenges of running busy clinics. However, my true passion lies in operating so any complex and weird and wonderful surgery and I'm in my element!

I live in the South Leicestershire countryside with my husband Ben, our 2 dogs, 2 cats and a horse. Outside of work I enjoy exercising the horse and dogs (sometimes together!), cooking and travelling.

Practice Director

Opened the practice in 2004.

I was born and grew up on my family’s Dairy Farm, working with animals was the only career I ever considered doing. I qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 1987 and went to work in a mixed practice in Coalville where I stayed for 16 years with a few year's break at different practices.

In 2003 I went to a meeting with the newly formed Vets4Pets recruitment team and liked the fresh ideas that they had for Companion animal practice. I opened Oadby Vets4Pets in 2004 with 2 colleagues and no clients but the practice soon grew and now I have a great partner in Amie Hanks and we have 14 colleagues working with us providing the best care we can for over 8000 patients

I have been married to Glyn for 15 years and we have moved back to my family farm in Northamptonshire after my father died to keep my mother company. I have 5 dogs, 3 step children and 4 grandchildren.

On my days off or weekends I like cooking & baking. I enjoy long walks with the family dog in the country and the evening are spent socialising with friends and family.

As a newly qualified vet I am still enjoying all aspects of small animal practice. At university I was very interested in anaesthesia so this might be something I look to gain a further qualification in, in the future.

I graduated from Liverpool University in 2016. Growing up my family always had a large menagerie of different pets so it was to be expected that one of us would end up working with animals! We currently have 3 dogs, 6 cats, a parrot and a bunny.

My particular passions include small animal surgery, exotics and end of life care.

In my spare time I am usually kept busy by my 2 year old son and like cooking for friends and family, reading, yoga and meditation.

I have always grown up with lots of pets. My first pet was called a cat called Sassy, but looking back on it, in the 20 years I had her I was more her pet.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with friends and family, outdoors, running, cycling and taking trips home to see my horse Izzy and my dog Pippa.

I live at home with my husband and have a grown up son that lives in London. We have two furry children that meow. If I'm not at work I can be found down the gym. I enjoy socialising with family and friends and pottering in the garden. Love to learn new things.

No two days are the same in my job so it is very varied. I like to turn my hand to anything so I am very versatile in the practice to assisting with procedures to hoovering. Really enjoy working in this team as they are like my second family and all bring different attributes to the challenges of the day. I look forward to many more years with this growing practice and learning along the way.

I live with my gorgeous cat Paddy. Oh and my husband Jay! I enjoy Pilates and running - generally keeping fit. I love spending time with family and friends socialising.

I love every part of my job and I cannot say that I have a particular interest in just one area but I do love consultations and being able to help clients with any problems they may have with their pets. My priority is making sure that all of our in-patients are cared for to the highest standards on a daily basis.

Veterinary Care Assistant.

I am the VCA at the practice and help assist the nurses and vets with daily routine jobs and tasks.

I have lived in Leicester my whole life and I have just recently got a new house with my partner of over 3 years. We are currently on the hunt for a little furry addition to our family (which won’t be too long). I have always been very passionate about improving an animal’s quality of life and insuring they receive the best care they can get. I worked for the RSPCA for 7 years before joining the Vets4Pets team.

In my own time l enjoy watching horror movies and documentaries at home but I am also a very sociable person and spend most of my days off out and about. I am extremely excited to be the first fully employed male to join the Oadby Vets 4 Pets team to further my 10 years’ experience. I am truly honoured and grateful to be working with such a hard working team.

Areas of interest: Complex surgeries and recovery of the patients. Also ultra sound scanning.

I have two grown up children and have a lodger that looks after my garden tortoise for me. I really enjoy going to the theatre with family and friends.

I love the variety of work that each day brings to the practice. We have a lovely working atmosphere with colleagues and good relationships with the clients and their pets. I feel most rewarded when a poorly pet goes home better.

I live locally with my husband and our two crazy Springer Spaniels, George and Louie. Our kids have all grown up and moved out, so I think we must have decided to fill our house with two crazy but loveable dogs when the house became a bit quiet! I enjoy walking the dogs and also going to a weekly French conversation class to practice everything I learned all those years ago at school.
