Rachel Maier BVM&S MRCVS

Practice Owner & Veterinary Surgeon

I qualified from the University of Edinburgh in 1999 and have worked in small animal practice in the south-east of London ever since, apart from a year in 2006 spent teaching veterinary medicine at a university in central China.

I love being a vet and enjoy being able to make a difference to the wellbeing of animals and the families they belong to. My main interests are small animal medicine, ultrasonography and exotic animal medicine. I'm very happy to be working with such a capable and caring team here.

Outside work, I enjoy spending my free time with my husband and two young children, swimming, and walking.

Veterinary Surgeon

I qualified from the University of Agricultural Veterinary Faculty, Latvia 2008, and have been working in small animal practices since then. I love all aspects of my work, and am particularly interested in diagnostics and internal medicine. Outside of work I enjoy travelling the world, photography and gardening.

I have 2 cats: a male Bengal called Leopold, and a female Savannah called Manutin (both pictured). My favourite famous animal is the big, beautiful dog, Beethoven!

I love meeting all the clients and their pets!

Letizia Grosso MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

I qualified from the University of Turin (Italy) in 2011. After graduating I completed a one year internship program in a Veterinary Hospital near Paris.

In 2012 I worked at the Veterinary University of Maison Alfort (Paris) in the surgical department. Subsequently I worked in small animal practices in Paris and London.

I joined the Vets4Pets Old Kent Road team in July 2015. My main interest is soft tissue surgery but I really enjoy every aspect of my work.

Joanna Law

Veterinary Surgeon

I qualified with First Class Honours from the University of Queensland, Australia, in 2013. After working for a period with one of Brisbane’s veterinary hospitals I accepted a rotating 12 month internship with the University of Queensland’s specialist centre. Following completion of this internship I worked in the emergency department at the university before moving to London in 2015, where I undertook locum work before joining the Vets4Pets Old Kent Road team in March 2016.

I thoroughly enjoy being a vet and take great delight in the constant challenge it brings with new and interesting cases each day. My main veterinary interests are in small animal medicine and diagnostic imaging.

Having grown up in Hong Kong, then living in Australia and now London, I have developed a love of travel and discovering new cultures. But I do miss “Bundy”, my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel that I have had to leave back home!

Mali RVN

Veterinary Nurse

I started working with animals in my second home, Bermuda, where I was a kennel assistant. I then moved back to the UK to start my veterinary nurse training.

I qualified in June 2015 & am proud to be a Registered Veterinary Nurse.

I love animals & travelling & try to combine the two if I can. My dream is to go to Costa Rica & spend time with sloths & swim with giant manta rays.

Cheryl - Old Kent Road

Veterinary Care Assistant

Having completed a secondment with the RSPCA in Nottingham though a previous employer, I decided to finally make a move into working with animals, which has been a lifelong ambition of mine. I moved to Stratford Upon Avon where I worked in a pet shop for 6 months before moving to London to work for Vets4Pets. My favourite animals are cats. I think they're fascinating and beautiful, each with their own personality. I love how independent they are, and when they show affection you know they really love you, a bit like me!

I currently look after my 14 year old rescue cat Bagpuss, who is my little girl. She loves it when I whistle a tune in her face! I recently rescued my 4 year old blue Persian, Lupin, from London Persian Cat Rescue. He follows me everywhere and always gets a wet beard when he drinks water.

I also have 2 male Gerbils, Riggs and Murtaugh, and 2 female Rats, Pilgrim and Ramona. My favourite famous animal is the hedgehog from The Hedgehog in the Fog, a Russian animation by Yuriy Norshteyn.

I love helping people care for their animals and giving them advice. I'm learning so much myself, and being able to play with the animals is an added bonus.

Leanne Wicks

Veterinary Care Assistant

I’ve spent the last 4 years in practice as a locum in many different small animal practices and hospitals gaining clinical experience before I settled down at Vets4Pets Old Kent Road where I will be starting my Veterinary Nursing training in September.

I love all aspects of my job, my favourite things to do at work are consultations and monitoring surgeries.

In my spare time I do some voluntary work for the RSPCA helping out with vaccination clinics and hand rearing kittens.

My other hobbies include long walks in the woods with my Chihuahua Roscoe (pictured), going to the gym and dining out.

Working on reception in a vet's practice is immense fun. What could be better than being surrounded by animals all day? Helping people care for their pets is incredible satisfying and no two days are ever the same, which always adds a sense of excitement to the day. We have some great animals come in everyday, all with their own little characters and quirks. I have always had pets, mainly dogs and am the proud owner of a Lancashire Heeler, Milly, who is adorable and naughty in equal measures. She loves nothing better than chasing her ball and running around the park.

So if you have any questions or need an appointment then give myself and the great team here a call and we will be more than happy to help you.
