Meet the Rochdale vet team

Rochdale Vets4Pets Amy Day

Owner & Veterinary Surgeon

I am from Rochdale and grew up in Milnrow, just a few miles from the practice so I know and love the area. I have worked exclusively in practices caring for family pets since I qualified from The University of Liverpool in 2005.

I have a keen interest in all aspects of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery, especially cardiology, ultrasonography, dermatology, endocrinology (caring for patients with Diabetes, hyperthyroidism etc) and feline medicine. I also have an interest in small mammal medicine, especially rabbits and guinea pigs.

I have a cat called Edith who came to me as a stray five years ago. Her likes include getting plenty of attention, piles of clean laundry and cardboard boxes. She dislikes sub-Mediterranean weather conditions and vacuum cleaners!

As well as spending time with my Husband and two young daughters I enjoy walking, cycling, reading, camping, baking and occasionally running (to offset the baking!).

Being part of the Vets4Pets family means we can offer value for money without cutting corners but being a small, local team means our clients see a familiar face providing their personal, friendly service. I love being a Vet and I really enjoy getting to know my patients and their families and I look forward to helping your pet stay healthy and happy.

Michelle Kerr RVN

Owner & Registered Veterinary Nurse

I've had a varied career, being involved in animal welfare for 18 years. Gaining experience and knowledge in kennels, catteries, dog grooming and then finally my goal of veterinary nursing.

I qualified in 2005 and have spent my nursing career within the Vet group. I've undertaken further studies in feline behaviour and medicine as this is a huge interest of mine, along with nutrition. I have two cats of my own.

The practice client relationship is crucial to me and I want to ensure an excellent service and veterinary experience is achieved for all.

Veterinary Surgeon

Alex graduated from the University of Bristol in July 2016. Being interested in all aspects of small animal practice she is excited to explore and further develop her skill set.

Whilst at University, Alex completed a number of specialist placements where she developed a keen interest in particularly small animal medicine and chemotherapy.

In her spare time, being an avid fan of Manchester City, Alex enjoys going watching the games, along with walking her boxer dog Sadie and playing netball!

Hi, I'm Ruth. I'm a registered qualified veterinary nurse. I qualified and graduated from Plymouth university (Bicton College) in 2005. I have worked in both small and large animal practices. I love all aspects of nursing but my special interest is in medical nursing and nurse clinics.

Sonia Chadwick

Registered Veterinary Nurse

In 1993 Sonia moved out to Lanzarote where she owned and ran a boarding kennels and cattery. These kennels were heavily involved with a stray animal rescue charity and, between the two of them, over 1000 dogs and 500 cats were successfully rehomed. In 2007, Sonia made the decision to move back to the UK, relocating to Middlesex. Here is where she began work as an animal nursing assistant. The following year, the opportunity to begin formal veterinary nurse training presented itself. Sonia jumped at this chance and qualified in 2011 (at the age of 40, who said you can’t teach old dogs new tricks?!). Whilst working down south, Sonia rescued a Staffie cross named ‘Sausage’ who was brought into the surgery with severe facial damage. As a result of this, she still makes some of the strangest noises you will ever hear from a dog! Sausage comes into work with Sonia most days and if you ever get to meet her, please don’t think she’s growling at you, the noises you here are a result of this previous injury! In 2012, Sonia returned home to her roots and took up a position with the Vet Group and is now a proud member of our team here at Rochdale Vets4Pets Sonia has an avid interest in certain types of canine and feline behaviour, rabbit husbandry and welfare.

Rochdale Vets4Pets Gracie Butterworth

Gracie Butterworth

Veterinary Care Assistant & Receptionist

Hi, my name is Gracie and I will be taking on a dual role here at Vets4Pets Rochdale as a Veterinary Care Assistant and Receptionist.

Due to my reluctant parents and a curious “allergy problem” my Dad claims to have, I've had no cute and cuddly pets of my own (I usually just informally adopt my friend’s and family’s pets so I have something to cuddle when I want). I've had a fish tank in the past, as my passion, and consequently my degree subject, is in Marine Biology (and Coastal Ecology…what a mouthful).

I love animals of all shapes and sizes though and ultimately want to do what’s best for them, so pop in, say hi and we’ll be here to help.

Rochdale Vets4Pets Mandy Porter

Mandy Porter

Hi my name is Mandy. I have always had a passion for animals since a very young age and I’m really happy to be working alongside them. I am the proud owner of three dogs and four cats, some of which are strays that I've rescued and couldn't part with!

I love meeting new people, going to concerts and also enjoy camping and days on the beach with my family.
