Javier Herrero DVM OCQ(V)-CA GPCert(SAS) PgC(SAS) MRCVS

Owner & Veterinary Surgeon

Originally from Spain, I decided to move to Great Britain over 10 years ago and to develop my career with companion animals. After working for few years as a consultant and veterinary surgeon in a first opinion practice and also providing emergency service and care in a dedicated specialist Out of Hours service, I decided together with Rafael to open Vets4pets Sidcup and Vets4pets Sydenham.

I have special interest on internal medicine, diagnostic image and surgery. My dedication has led me to pursue further studies and specialization. After two years of intense courses taught by specialists and examinations I finally achieved a Certificate in Small Animal Surgery in 2016. Now we are able to perform more advanced and technical surgical procedures, which enables us to offer better care and wider services to our patients.

In addition to this, I have been awarded with a further post graduate Certificate in Small Animal Surgery in 2018. Currently, I am studying towards a Certificate in Endoscopy and Minimal Invasive Surgery, commonly know as key hole surgery. This is upgrading the service and options for our patients, minimising damage and considerably improving post operative recovery, something that some of our patients have already benefited from.

My little spare time is filled with a beautiful daughter, a naughty cat and a noisy parrot.

Rafael Garrido MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeons & Practice Owner

I am originally from Granada in southern Spain and qualified as a vet in 2006. Since February 2009. I have been working within the Sidcup area of the UK in small animal practice. I Love being in the operating theatre and I have always been interested in echography (echocardiography, abdominal ultrasonography, eyes). I have a strong passion for small animal internal medicine and I'm currently undertaking a 2 years certificate in small animal internal medicine.

When not working my hobbies include fossils, picking mushrooms, photography, reading and of course animals. I especially enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I'm happily married to Katarina, who is a vet as well, and we have a six and a half months old daughter called Lucia. Our pets are Lady and Cesar both of them 6 and a half years old. We also have some Neon fish and 3 Yamato shrimps!

I would like to offer a very good service to my clients and to provide the best treatment for my patients. My next goal will be to do some advance courses on ultrasonography and cardiology.

Adrianna Skarbek

Veterinary Surgeon

I was born in the northern part of Poland, but moved to the South of the country where in February 2016 I qualified as a vet from Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences.

I have always tried to improve my knowledge about exotic and zoo animal medicine as undoubtedly it is my main interest. The carrier of Veterinary Medicine gave me opportunities to learn from recognised specialists around the world, including London Zoo and Louisiana State University in the US. Currently I would also like to develop my skills in small animal surgery and cytology and prepare myself for studying towards certification in exotic animals.

After work I enjoy watching movies or reading fantasy books next to the terrarium of my Brazilian rainbow boa – Roger. I like spending time in the kitchen, both cooking and eating, which gives me energy to do my favourite sports like running, swimming and skiing. I used to train horse-riding and I hope that one day I could start doing it again.

Monica has been working at Vets4Pets Sidcup as a receptionist since we first opened.

She lives with her cat Bea, who is 9 years old this year, and Coco, a lovely Shih Tzu puppy who just joined her family.

Her interests are anything to do with crafts and she crochets blankets for the surgery.

She enjoys her job very much, meeting all the animals and making a fuss of all of them.
