Meet the team

Michelle Lawrence

Vet & JVP

Hi I am Michelle. I qualified as a vet in 1992, and have enjoyed every minute of it.

I enjoy all aspects of the work and though it does have its very sad moments, it’s also very rewarding and inspiring.

I’m a “softie” where animals are concerned, hence my menagerie of cats, dogs, birds, tortoise, turtle and a horse- it’s a crowded house.

Machala Boyle

Practice Manager & JVP

Hi I am Machala. I’ve been the Practice Manager here since the very beginning so I know virtually all of the clients and pets very well. It’s lovely to see the puppies and kittens growing up, the new bunnies settling in etc. We love them to call in for a chat (and of course a treat!)

I took home a cat that was treated at our surgery after a kind member of the public witnessed him being hit by a car. He was seriously injured, but now rules the roost.

In my spare time I like to run always challenging myself to some race or another.

Emma

Veterinary Surgeon BVsc MRCVS

I have been working here at Vets4pets St Helens since I graduated from the University of Liverpool in July 2017. I have always wanted to work in small animal practice and once I graduated couldn't wait to start. In my spare time I play in a local orchestra, play board games and spend time with my cat, Lucy, and my tortoise, Sheldon.

Marina

Veterinary Surgeon VMD UMU MRCVS

Hi there! I am Marina Pastor one of the vets working in Vet4Pets St Helens practice, I am from Spain, studied veterinary in Murcia, one of the sunniest and warmest places in Spain. I have been working here since I graduated and I am pleased I did, it is wonderful here. I have a little dog in Spain, she is lovely and her name is Tina, I also love cats and bunnies. I love to go running and visiting places, I play the electric guitar and love music. I am amazed by Liverpool and its surroundings, I am really happy I came here to work, amazing place and people!

Beth

Veterinary Nurse

I’m Beth, I am one of the RVNs at Companion Care and I joined the team in 2015. I qualified in 2007 and have worked in various settings from a charity hospital to a state of the art ICU. My favourite aspects of the job are emergency & critical care and medical nursing. I have undertaken additional qualifications to enhance the care I can provide to your pets and love to learn new skills and knowledge.

Home can be just as busy as work with 3 young children and 2 dogs to look after! In my spare time I love to run and this year have set myself the challenge of completing a 10k race or further each month.

Emily

Veterinary Nurse

I joined the team here in St Helens in June 2017 after completing my Veterinary Nursing degree at the University of the West of England, and was very pleased to come back home up north! I am really enjoying working here and being able to nurse some lovely patients. I adore big dogs, and I am especially interested in both canine and feline behaviour, weight management and helping make life easier for our senior pets.

I adopted the practice cat Frank when he came to stay over Christmas 2018 and never left! He was brought into the practice in November 2017, we nursed him back to health and even though he is still a poorly cat, he’s currently living life to the full with me and getting thoroughly spoilt!

Iga

Student Veterinary Nurse

I am currently studying veterinary nursing at Myerscough College and will be graduating in July 2019 but my quest for education does not stop there, I plan on completing my bachelor’s degree and then carry on to do my master’s degree. I’ve been here at Vets4Pets St Helens since I began my course in 2016 and plan on staying here for the foreseeable future. My key interests are in cat medicine and behaviour and diagnostic imaging like radiography.

I have two cats of my own, Fynn and Winnie, who are always causing trouble but I would not change them for the world. In my spare time I enjoy cooking, exploring the countryside and playing video games.

Rachael Dearden

Client Care Manager BA Hons

Hello I am Rachael, the Client Care Manager here at St Helens Vets4Pets. I previously studied Contemporary Theatre and Performance before joining the team at St Helens in August 2015, but I can already tell this is my dream job!

I am an extremely organised person and I don’t switch off even when I am at home. I enjoy a challenge and take pride in my work. It is so exciting to get the chance to meet all of the different animals. I am a people person so I enjoy talking to new and old clients - But be warned I don’t know when to stop!

Paula

Receptionist

My name is Paula and I am a receptionist here at St Helens Vets4Pets. I started in October 2017 when I moved back to the area after 20 years travelling with my other half who was part of the Armed Forces.

I have an extensive background in customer service, administration and I am a dog owner so I have lots of patience.

The whole team here are so friendly and really care about the patients they treat and the families that worry about them.

This is such a rewarding and enjoyable job that sometimes I think I would do it for free (only sometimes mind you)
