Wallasey Vets4Pets Rik Patel

Rikesh Patel BVMS BSc MRCVS

Owner & Veterinary Surgeon

Welcome - My name is Rikesh Suresh Patel – a friendly approachable partner.

I am your vet for Wallasey Vets4Pets. I was born & raised in London and graduated from the University of Glasgow Vet School in 2007. After graduating I spent 3 years gaining further skills in Cairns, Australia, as well as a year in New Zealand in 2011 helping to open and being chief vet, running a brand new, only after hour’s emergency centre in Hamilton, Waikato.

Whilst at University I enjoyed, and still try to enjoy (time permitting) lots of outdoors activities including hiking, potholing and travelling, I also enjoy watching & playing (albeit not very well) football & rugby.

I adopted a cat called John Arne Riise the Second (Riise for short) in 2007 - he has since lived with my family in London. Despite the name, I'm an Aston Villa supporter.

I am still highly ambitious and this has shown with the opening of this brand new surgery and will show with my consulting skill, and care for the animals and the owners. Special interests include dermatology (skin) and exotics, amongst the wide variety of day to day surgical life.

I hope to welcome you to our surgery soon & the team is looking forward to meeting you and your pets.

Maria Wesbury MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

I was born and raised in Birmingham and graduated from Liverpool Vet School in 2015. During my time at vet school I developed an interest in exotics, in particular “small furries” and reptiles.

I started work in Congleton gaining experience in consulting and surgery before I moved back to the Wirral to further my experience in exotic medicine. I started at Vets4Pets Wallasey in April 2018 and am keen to continue my work with exotic animals. Hoping to complete my certificate in exotic care and medicine over the next few years.

I enjoy reading and drawing in my spare time. I love to visit zoos and learn more about conservation in exotic species. I also love walking with my partner, especially locally as Wirral is such a beautiful place to live.

I have a Roberovski hamster called Brandon (Bran Flake), a rabbit called Honey and keep lots of tropical fish at home. My dream pet would be to have a monitor lizard!

Ellie Smith RVN

Senior Registered Veterinary Nurse

I joined the Wallasey branch in January 2018 after moving into the area and thoroughly enjoy it here!

I qualified in 2004 and have worked in referral practices, mixed animal, emergency work and first opinion practices all over Shropshire and Cheshire.

Outside of work, I have a Labrador called Bentley who keeps me busy and I am a keen runner and regularly partake in running obstacle events like Tough Mudders.

Student Veterinary Nurse

I am a Student Veterinary nurse at Wallasey Vets4Pets. I have a dog, a cat, nine rabbits, two rats and two hamsters.

Before joining Vets 4 Pets Wallasey I completed an animal care apprenticeship at Leahurst Animal Hospital, which then allowed me to have enough experience to join the team at Wallasey and apply for my nurse training.

I have been working at this practice since July 2016 and started my nursing course in January 2018.

Student Veterinary Nurse

I joined Vets 4 Pets Wallasey back in 2015 and I am very settled here working with a great team. I am currently doing my training to become a qualified Veterinary Nurse.

Outside of work I have a 7 year old little boy who keeps me very busy. I have a poodle named Doogle and 2 cats named Cinders and Spencer. I enjoy keeping fit going the gym and going on nice bike rides with my family.

Senior Receptionist

My interest in working with animals has come from being brought up on a farm and owning a variety of animals from pigs to horses to dogs. After school, I moved to Leeds and completed a BSc in Equine Management due to my love of horses.

After my degree and student life I moved back to the Wirral and completed a few months in a referral practice, but felt that first opinion practice would allow me to learn more – this took me to the team at Vets4pets Wallasey!

I have a beautiful 2 year old little girl who takes up most of my spare time but I also enjoy training and keeping fit in the gym in-between working and being a mum.
