Dr Patrick Currivan
Practice Owner & Veterinary Surgeon
Dr. Patrick Currivan MVB GPCert(SAS) CertAVP(GSAS) MRCVS RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Surgery Veterinary Consultant Orthopaedic and Soft Tissue Surgeon
Dr. Patrick Currivan established the practice in 2002. He holds various post graduate qualifications in surgery including GPCertSAS and CertAVP(GSAS). Dr. Currivan leads the surgical team at Halifax Referrals Vets4Pets and performs complex orthopaedic and soft tissue surgeries including hip replacement operations. Patrick lives locally with his wife and daughter and enjoys going to the gym and watching rugby in his spare time. Dr. Currivan is a RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Surgery.
Dr James Higson
Veterinary Surgeon

Dr. Higson graduated from Veterinary College in Nottingham in 2013. He spent 5 years in general practice before deciding that he wanted to concentrate on small animal surgery. He joined the team at vetXS in January 2019 to specifically pursue his interest in referral work. Dr. Higson particularly enjoys fracture repair and cruciate surgery and holds the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice in General Small Animal Surgery, CertAVP(GSAS) he achieved in 2020. Dr. Higson primarily operates at West Yorkshire Veterinary Referrals (hosted at Halifax Vets4Pets) and also undertakes regular peripatetic referral work. Dr. Higson is a RCVS recognised Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Surgery (2021).
Dr. Higson hails from Clitheroe, Lancashire, is recently married to Nicola and lives in Keighley with his dogs Luna and Neville and Sirius the cat.
I have always been an animal lover and my dream job has always been to become a Veterinary Nurse. I started studying at the College of Animal Welfare in January 2019 and I am very nearly qualified now! I’m a newbie to the Halifax team and I absolutely love how every day at work is different. My favourite part of the job would have to be the inpatient care and working with such a supportive team. At home I have two mischievous 11 year old cats called Tiggy and Smudge, in my spare time I enjoy socialising with my boyfriend, friends and family, I’m a big foodie so I enjoy anything that’s food related!
From a young age I have always wanted to care for animals. I started my nurse training a little bit later in life than most people, but it is definitely the best decision I have made.
I love working at Halifax Vets 4 Pets, every day is different and the caseload is so varied. At home I have 2 ginger cats who love getting into lots of mischief and certainly keep me on my toes.
My favourite part of the job is anaesthesia, helping with the surgeries, and the team are so supportive!
At home I enjoy watching films, going to music festivals and cooking.

I have worked in the veterinary profession since leaving school, where I have worked as an animal care assistant for 8 years. I am now working towards my veterinary nursing qualification.
I am the proud owner of a black Labrador called George, who is 8 years old and 2 cats called Jeffery and Jacob.
In my spare time I enjoy playing computer games and can often be found tinkering in mechanics, underneath one of my cars on the drive!
I started my Veterinary Nursing journey in 2019, and after completing my first year at college I joined the Vets4Pets team here in Halifax.
I am thoroughly enjoying learning the ins and outs of the role and particularly like recovering patients from anaesthetic.
In the future I would love to do some voluntary work in Africa and other parts of the world caring for wildlife.
I joined Patrick and the Vets4Pets team in November 2012 after a complete career change. Most of my working life (prior to this role) was spent as an Artificial Insemination Technician in the Equine industry. In 2017 I got my head back in my books and decided to sign up to the 'CMI Level 5 Certificate in Management' where I recently achieved 'Chartered Manager' status.
I have 3 dogs of my own, Lucas-Patterdale mix, Noodle-JRT and Margaret-Yorkie mix. I have two children, Cinnamon and Eric who keep me very busy. My favourite part of the job would have to be the people I get to work alongside and the clients/patients we get to meet and help along the way. It's such a satisfying feeling to know you may have actually made a difference to the life of a pet and then in turn a client. I am extremely proud of the team I work with, we really are like a little family!
In any spare time I get (which isn't much) I love to go for big walks with the family, travel and read.

I am new to the Vets4Pets Team in Halifax as a Client Care Advisor.
I currently have 1 dog called Winston, a black show Cocker Spaniel who we bred ourselves as my auntie has the mother (Cici) and sister (Blue).
I have a love for the countryside and exploring all different places on walks, I have a passion for baking and play netball in my free time too.
This is a total change in career paths for me, but it has always been a passion of mine to work with animals. I look forward to learning everything about this role here at Vets4Pets, and getting to know everyone in the team.
