Advanced services
We have invested considerably in our team and kit to make a number of advanced services available to our clients. We also accept referrals from other practices.
Orthopaedics
Our veterinary team have undertaken advanced training to allow us to perform orthopaedic surgery in our practice. If your pet develops an abnormality involving their skeleton or joints, such as elbow dysplasia, a patella (kneecap) that gets stuck, or a torn cruciate ligament, an orthopaedic procedure may help them.
Laparoscopy surgery (keyhole surgery)
Laparoscopy is a minimally invasive surgical technique to explore the abdomen with two to three small ‘keyhole’ incisions. We are pleased to have invested considerably in our team and kit to make minimally invasive surgery available to our clients.

Meet the team
I am Spyridon and I qualified from the University of Thessaly in 2017. I have been working in Yorkshire for the last 4 years now and I have a special interest in surgery. If I am not working I will be traveling or training in BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu).
I have been with Vets for Pets Halifax since 2012. Prior to this I worked as an artificial insemination technician in large animals (horses and cow). Moving from large animal into small animal was a bit of a change, but it is definitely much warmer working conditions now!
I have 3 small dogs of my own, Django, Noodle and Margaret and I have two children, Cinnamon and Eric who keep me very busy with their busy footballing lives! My favourite part of the job would have to be the people I get to work alongside and the clients/patients we get to meet and help along the way. It's such a satisfying feeling to know you may have actually made a difference to the life of a pet and then in turn a client. I am extremely proud of the team I work with, we really are like a little family!
In any spare time I get (which isn't much) I love to go for big walks with the family, travel and read.
From an early age I realised caring for animals was my passion. I began my career as a Saturday girl at a vet practice as soon as I left school. I qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in December 2015. I joined Halifax Vets for Pets in August 2022 and I have loved becoming part of the team and seeing the varied cases that walk through the door.
My favourite part of the job is all things anaesthesia alongside always trying to provide the best care I can to the patients.
Outside of work I have three young children Jenson, Penny and Leo who keep me extremely busy! I also have two Golden Retrievers, Prince and Claude and a three legged cat called Bear.
In my spare time I enjoy spending quality time with my friends and family. I also enjoy walking the dogs for some peace and quiet which is rare in our house!
I’ve been in practice since I was 17 and worked as a qualified Veterinary Care Assistant for 6 and a half years after completing my VCA course, before taking the leap and starting my journey as a Student Veterinary Nurse, I am often known for my many different hair colours and awful singing (my colleagues can vouch for me on that one!).
It’s always been my dream to work with animals, ever since my first trip to Chester Zoo at the age of 2.
I know nothing will ever beat the feeling of taking care and looking after any and every animal I possibly can.
After graduation and qualifying as a Registered Veterinary Nurse I aim to gain my qualification in exotics and wildlife nursing and work within zoos and conservation facilities abroad in places like Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
I have a strong passion for ultrasonography and in-patient care and I’m also aiming for my certification in ultrasonography.
I love travelling and I always aim to travel to somewhere new at any given opportunity. I also love walking in the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales and going to the beach.
I am very proud of my role within the veterinary industry and love meeting all of your fur babies each day.
Zahra is one of our newest additions and has just started her Veterinary Nurse training! Zahra has fit right into the team and is quickly gaining new skills!
Since a very young age Zahra has been very passionate about helping and caring for animals and it has always been her dream to work in a veterinary practice.

I absolutely love my job as its such a varied role. A day can consist of cleaning, feeding and monitoring animals to assisting the nurse with anaesthetics, lab work and urinary analysis. I am a huge animal lover and have a varied range of pets, many are rescued. I have a King Charles Spaniel, a young pug, five cats, Bearded dragon, Tortoise, Argentinian Horned frog, Whites Tree frogs, Guinea Pigs, Chickens, two hens and a goldfish! My pets are my hobby along with vegetable growing and wildlife watching, I am also a Brownie Leader in my spare time.
I have worked in the veterinary profession since leaving school, where I have worked as an animal care assistant for 8 years. I am now working towards my veterinary nursing qualification.
I am the proud owner of a black Labrador called George, who is 8 years old and 2 cats called Jeffery and Jacob.
In my spare time I enjoy playing computer games and can often be found tinkering in mechanics, underneath one of my cars on the drive!
Emma is currently training for her Veterinary Care Assistant Level 2 Diploma.
Emma has previous experience in the veterinary profession. Emma worked for three years as a Support Technician and eight years as a Receptionist.
Emma has two Labradors named Poppy and Bella.
Out of work, Emma enjoys spending time with her family and taking her dogs out on lovely walks. Emma enjoys watching TV and films, and going to watch live football & music concerts.

I have worked as a receptionist at Halifax Vets for Pets since 2015. I have ridden all my life and until recently bred and showed Welsh breeds of ponies. I have always owned dogs and currently have three, all of which are terriers. I also used to breed and show poultry mainly Pekin and Japanese Bantams. I love being a part of the team here and the best bit is meeting the clients, both the two legged and four legged!
