Practice Owner & Veterinary Surgeon

Having always had a passion for animals and medicine, I ended up studying Veterinary at Liverpool University, after a brief period of working as a health care assistant and nurse in Germany and India. I started my career in mostly rural, farm practice in Wales but later focused more on the companion animal side of job.

After a few years in practice, I was able to use my skills to indulge in my passion for travel for several years and was lucky enough to take part in voluntary projects in Thailand, then move on to locum in Australia and New Zealand as well as regular do locums in the UK. I came to the Isle of Man to work a few times during that period but in 2004, a three-month locum post failed to end, and I now have a Manx farmer husband and two children. I am very proud to be part of this wonderful place.

In addition to this I also have 3 cats, and Heinz57 Terrier called Bertie who shares my joy of walks but does not share my enthusiasm for sea swimming.

I enjoy the variety of working in General Practice, but also have special interest in medicine and soft tissue surgery, as well as imaging.

I’m Megan and I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2020. Originally I planned to start my career in New Zealand but due to Covid plans changed and I ended up on the Isle of Man instead and fell in love with the island.

I worked for a Vets for Pets practice as a student and am excited to be starting the next stage of my career with them. Along with getting married and moving house it’s a whole new season of adventure.

I like spending time outdoors, especially sea swimming, but also snuggling on the settee with my sassy long haired ginger cat Chester.

I love consulting and spending time getting to know my clients and patients and have a soft spot especially for the nervous ones that take a bit more convincing. I have also started growing an interest in Dermatology and hope to further that over the next few years.

Hi I’m Immy, I knew I wanted to be a vet nurse when I left school so I got a Level 3 extended diploma in animal management science route, during this I had a placement at a Vets4Pets branch in the UK so I suppose you could say I've returned. I got my BSc degree in veterinary nursing at the Royal Veterinary College and became a registered veterinary nurse in 2023. I love how being an RVN can take you all over the world and I completed an internship in Costa Rica, where I fell in love with treating Sloths.

At home I have a springer spaniel and a pony that keep me busy, but it's Timothy the donkey that really causes mischief. I love all aspects of my job but in particular I enjoy nurse consultations, allowing me to form positive patient and client relationships over routine care. I also hope to study for a certificate in advanced veterinary nursing, specialising in anaesthesia and analgesia next year.

Hi my name is Kim, I have been working as a veterinary receptionist for the last 11 years, enjoying the diversity of the role. Helping clients through the joy of a new pet to the heartbreak of letting them go feels like a privilege, ensuring the process is as kind as it can be.

My heart belongs to Miniature Schnauzers, having had the most wonderful girl called Heidi, but my understanding of cats has grown during my time in practice.

Read Jessica Sims bio

Hi, I’m Jessica, from a very young age I have always had a passion to work with animals. I have always found myself in the middle of roads moving hedgehogs to safe places and if I could bring every stray home I would. Before joining vets for pets I owned my own business walking dogs and house sitting. I have been around animals my whole life which has furthered my love for all furry things (even ones with 8 legs).

At home I have a German Shepard called Chief, a Belgium Malinois called Sasha and a lovely cat called ghost which keeps me on my toes at all times. We all enjoy long walks and swimming in the sea. I have so much more love to give and look forward to meeting all your lovely pets.

Hello, my name is Kate Gledhill and I have been a vet on the Island for 20 years.

I came to the Island for a 3-month locum position and forgot to leave! I am now married to a Manx farmer, and am passionate about my adopted homeland.

After a small career break to help look after my Mum, I am now starting my new adventure, with the backing of Vets for Pets. The practice is now open on the mezzanine of the Pets at Home store inn Douglas, a purpose built practice to allow me to offer high quality GP veterinary care to the Pets on the island.

We really enjoyed meeting a lot of you at the Royal Manx Show earlier this summer, and are so excited to welcome you all to meet us and take a look around our shiny new purpose built practice.
