Meet the team
I graduated over 30 years ago in Hannover, Germany, and began my career working in several small animal practices. In 1994, I moved to Cardiff with my husband, and we now live in Barry with our three cats—Ceri, Ginny, and Lupin.
Throughout my career, I’ve developed a deep passion for all aspects of small animal practice, with a particular focus on feline medicine, which I’m excited to continue exploring and specializing in further. My patients include dogs, cats, rabbits, and I also have experience treating rats, hamsters, fish, cage birds, and exotics. Each animal I treat is special to me, and I take pride in providing the best care possible to help them live healthy and happy lives.
After graduating from Ankara University in 2021, I made the exciting decision to move to the UK and began my journey as an official veterinarian in Southwest Wales, where I worked for nearly a year.
In March 2023, I joined the fantastic team at Barry Vets for Pets, and from day one, I’ve felt incredibly welcomed and supported by everyone here. I truly enjoy meeting new pets and their owners each day, and it’s been a rewarding experience to be part of such a compassionate and dedicated team.
After graduating from Ankara University in 2018, I worked in small animal practice while completing my PhD in Veterinary Reproduction. I moved to the UK in October 2025 and I’m very happy to be part of the team, continuing to learn and grow every day.
With over 8 years of experience in veterinary practice, I followed my passion to become a veterinary nurse, and I’m so grateful to have found a career I love. After welcoming my son, I joined the Barry Vets for Pets team, where I’ve continued to grow both professionally and personally.
I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of nursing, with a particular passion for assisting in theatre operations and providing exceptional patient care.
At home, I’m kept busy by my large German Shepherd x Husky and two lively moggies—there are certainly a lot of paws and tails running around!
I qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2011, and after all these years, I’m still passionate about my work. Every day brings something new, and I’m grateful to be part of a profession I truly love.
At home, I have a wonderful daughter and a rescue cat named Cookie, who keeps me on my toes.
My main area of interest is feline behaviour and medicine, but I also enjoy the variety that comes with working with all animals in practice.
Miss Kate Prynne
Registered Veterinary Nurse
RVN
I qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) in 2025, and I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of veterinary nursing. The variety and challenges in this field keep me motivated and passionate about my work.
Outside of work, I’m a big supporter of Cardiff City FC. At home, I’m kept busy by my rescue kitten, Trixie, and my Doodle, Lily, both of whom bring plenty of joy to my life.
I graduated from The Royal Veterinary College in 2013 with a degree in Veterinary Nursing and since then have been working in small animal practice in South Wales.
I also work in the Veterinary Emergency Treatment Service to improve my emergency and critical care skills.
In my spare time I enjoy keeping fit and often foster orphaned animals. I currently have a cat and a large dog;
Fiona has many years of experience in the veterinary industry and is an extremely skilled and compassionate Nursing Assistant. At home, she has two children, a rescue dog named Dotty, and a cat called Heidi, all of whom keep her busy and full of love.
With a huge passion for all animals, Fiona is always ready to offer a comforting cuddle to any fur baby that comes through our doors, making sure they feel safe and loved during their visit.
With over 34 years of experience in the veterinary industry, I’ve had the privilege of working my way up from a kennel assistant in 1992 to my current role as Practice Manager. My journey has been hands-on and deeply rewarding, with a lifelong passion for animals at the heart of everything I do.
I’m still actively involved in animal care and find joy in making a difference in the lives of both the pets and the people who love them. Currently, I share my home with four rescue cats—Sky, Diesel, Neville, and Dobby—and also foster kittens in need of a loving environment. While I often joke about saying "no more animals," I know better than to say never.
When I’m not caring for animals, I enjoy playing ladies’ baseball during the summer months. Being part of a team and staying active is a big part of my life, and I love the fun and camaraderie it brings.
Sharon has been a valued member of our team for the past few years and enjoys all aspects of her role within the practice. With her dedication and experience, she has recently taken on the role of Head of Reception, where she continues to ensure our clients and their pets receive the best care and service.
Hello, I’m Cath! Working at Vets for Pets Barry has truly fulfilled my dream of working with animals, and I couldn’t be happier. At home, I’m surrounded by my wonderful family and our adorable, albeit allergic, dog Paisley.
I’ve always had a soft spot for Staffies, and you’ll often find me in the kennels, lovingly fawning over these lovely patients. It’s the little moments with these animals that make my job so rewarding.
Hello, I'm Sophie, one of the receptionists here at Barry Vets4Pets. I'm a huge animal lover, my little sausage dog Amber is my absolute world. When I'm not spoiling her, you can find me curled up with a good horror movie, or taking a trip to the beach. I am also a fan of Redbull and, of course, the iconic Feather Mcgraw.
Rhianne has been with the practice for a few years now and is always ready to offer a treat or some comforting attention to our patients. Her love for animals shines through in every interaction.
In her spare time, Rhianne enjoys walking her lovable dog, Barney, and playing with her newly adopted kitten, Peaches. She has always had a deep passion for animals, which makes her role here even more fulfilling.
When she's not at work, Rhianne enjoys reading and going to shows, always looking for new ways to unwind and enjoy life outside of her career.
I support our team by keeping the front desk running smoothly and assisting wherever needed. I am passionate about providing excellent care for our clients and their pets, and I take pride in fostering a welcoming and organized environment. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my dogs, supporting my husband, and relaxing with a good glass of wine.
Jazz is an avid animal lover with a deep passion for the sports and the outdoors. Whether it is hiking, running, or exploring nature, she strives on staying active. Jazz has two beloved pets at home, Koko a loyal German Shepherd and Bella, a lazy cat.
