Meet Dr Andreea Ionescu MRCVS DVLM

I am proud to be the Joint Venture Partner and Veterinary Surgeon at Vets for Pets Pontypridd.

Since opening the practice in 2016 my goal has always been to provide exceptional veterinary care built on compassion, trust, and clinical excellence. I believe that great veterinary medicine is about more than diagnosing and treating illness - it's about building lasting relationships with our clients, understanding every pet's individual needs, and treating each patient as if they were one of my own.

I am incredibly proud of the dedicated team we have built at Pontypridd. Their kindness, professionalism, and commitment to outstanding patient care are at the heart of everything we do. Together, we strive to create a welcoming environment where both pets and their owners feel cared for, supported, and valued.

In 2025, I was delighted to expand by taking over Vets for Pets Llantrisant, allowing us to continue our commitment to providing high-quality veterinary care to even more pets and their families.

Thank you for trusting us with your pets. It is a privilege to care for them, and we look forward to welcoming you for many years to come

Hi I'm Nia,  I am the Head Veterinary Nurse here at Vets for Pets Pontypridd.
I have been working in veterinary medicine for 10 years now, 8 of those here in Pontypridd.
I have always loved animals and knew I wanted to work with them in some capacity and when I learnt about Veterinary Nursing I knew this was the job for me! I love meeting all of your pets and watching them grow and helping look after them during their visits!
In my spare time I play Flag American Football and horse ride when I can!

Hello! My name is Talia,

I have worked in the veterinary industry for over 5 years, dealing with a range of complex cases day to day. I decided to go into the veterinary industry because of my love and compassion for animals. I pride myself in giving gold standard care to all of my patients. I have always had an interest in veterinary as I grew up in a farming and equine environment, which naturally led me pursuing this job.

In free time I like to travel and ride my horses!

Hi, I'm Amie and I have been working here at Vets for Pets Pontypridd since September 2020. I began my time as a student Veterinary Care Assistant on placement and then got offered a job as Receptionist where I then became Head Receptionist after a few months. Before coming here I worked as a mental health support worker but decided to chase my dream after a change in home life. I am currently on my last year as a Student Veterinary Nurse and will be taking my OSCEs (practical exam) in November 2024 to hopefully become a Registered Veterinary Nurse.

At home, I live with my wife, two children and our two dogs Charlie and Louie. Charlie is a miniature Yorkshire terrier who at 13 years old still thinks she is a puppy and Louie who is an Irish greyhound who we rescued in September 2023. He has settled in very well to home life after never experiencing this before and is now a very spoilt boy.

Working at Vets for Pets Pontypridd has been a pleasure the past few years, finally getting to do what I love and working with a great team of people.

Head Receptionist

Hi, I'm Amy (AKA Jonesy) and I have been here at Vets for Pets Pontypridd since April 2022. I began as a Receptionist and have recently been made Head Receptionist this year. I used to work in retail but have always wanted to work with animals, so when I saw the opportunity here, I had to go for it and have enjoyed it ever since.

At home, I live with my partner and 2 cats Patrick and Sawyer. We acquired Patrick when a client brought him in but sadly didn't have the capacity to fund the treatment for him, so we took him on as a practice but I soon fell in love with him and wanted to take him home.

In my spare time, I love to spend time with my family and socialising at my local pub watching sports. I love working with the team here as I'm surrounded by like-minded people who want the best for our pets.
