About the Owner
Madalina Obreja is the proud owner of our locally owned veterinary practice, created from a genuine love for animals and a deep desire to care for them as family.
Madalina has been within the industry for over a decade, building her skills and creating a wealth of knowledge.
Her journey has always been guided by compassion, empathy, and a quiet determination to do what is right for every pet and every person who walks through the door. To Madalina, this practice is not simply a business, but a reflection of her values, her heart, and her commitment to the community she serves.
As the practice steps into a new chapter, to a larger, thoughtfully designed hospital-style facility, created to gently elevate the level of care offered to pets and their families. The new space will allow for expanded services, advanced treatments, and state-of-the-art diagnostics, including an on-site CT scanner coming soon. This move represents Madalina’s ongoing promise to grow with care, intention, and love, while continuing to offer a calm, reassuring environment where pets feel safe and families feel supported.
“This practice was built with love. Every decision comes from a place of care, kindness, and respect for the animals entrusted to us. My hope is that every pet feels safe here, and every family feels truly heard.” — Madalina Obreja
Meet Our New Vet: Dr. May Yean!
Hi, I’m May Yean! I qualified from Cambridge University in 2021 and have been working in small animal practices ever since.
I love all aspects of general practice—especially ultrasound—and my goal is always to improve your pet’s life, whether through preventative care or life-saving procedures. 🐾
Staying true to my roots, I’ve earned my ABVA qualification in veterinary acupuncture (dry needle & electroacupuncture) and strongly believe that nutrition is key to supporting overall health.
Outside of work, I enjoy creating educational videos to help pet owners feel empowered in caring for their furry friends.
What is veterinary acupuncture?
It’s an ancient practice modernized with science to alleviate pain, improve recovery, and support overall wellness. From musculoskeletal injuries and arthritis to digestive and urinary issues, acupuncture is a holistic adjunct treatment that complements traditional medicine.
Curious if acupuncture could help your pet? Get in touch with our team to explore options!

I love the variety of animals that come through the door but I especially love small mammals such as rabbits, rats, guinea pigs and hamsters for example. I am currently completing my Certificate in Small Animal Nursing so that I can give your small furies gold standard care when they are here!
I also completed my ISFM feline friendly nursing certificate in 2018 to make your cats experience at the vets as stress free as possible!
In my spare time I love taking Martha for long walks and socialising with friends.I look forward to meeting all of your fur babies and providing lots of advice (and plenty of cuddles for them too!).

I love cats & chickens. I am very good with rabbits, birds, chickens and cats. I'm excellent with naughty and aggressive cats.
My job is very rewarding and each day is different, you never know what each day can bring.
I started at Salford Vets for Pets as a locum in August and as the team are excellent I decided to take the RVN position.
I love family and friend get togethers and dancing, I especially love my garden as I am a keen gardener.
But most of all I could spend my days in my garden with my chickens as they are comical and mischievous.
