Here at Vets4Pets Nottingham Chilwell, we are a team dedicated to animal welfare. We are accredited by both the International Society of Feline Medicine and the Rabbit Welfare, Association & Fund (RWAF).

We are proud to say we have achieved the gold certification from the International Society of Feline Medicine. This means that we go extra mile to make sure out cat clients feel as comfortable and safe as possible. We have a cat advocate in practice who makes sure we are continuing and improving our gold standards of care to our feline patients.

We have a consultation room and hospitalisation ward exclusively for cats ensuring adequate lighting, ventilation and temperature control. If your cat needs to be put under anaesthetic, a trained member of staff will be present to monitor the anaesthesia throughout the procedure and afterwards in a dedicated recovery area. These are just a few things that we do differently to other practices!

In addition to this, we have been awarded the Silver Rabbit Friendly Clinic status by the Rabbit Welfare, Association & Fund (RWAF). Our practice is located inside a Pets at Home store, which means that we see many more rabbits that other general practices as we are involved in their vaccination and neutering for the Support Adoption scheme. We have a separate kennelling area that is dedicated to rabbits. This is important because being hospitalised alongside a predator species, such as dogs or cats, would be very stressful for rabbits. We also provide rabbit igloos so they are able to hide and use Pet Remedy calming diffusers to also help to reduce stress.

We recommend that rabbits are kept in pairs, ideally a neutered male and female together. If you need to bring your rabbit in to see us, it’s a good idea to bring in both of your rabbits which prevents problems with reintroducing back at home (a rabbit returning to the vet will smell different from other rabbits). It also benefits the poorly rabbit, as their mate can help in their recovery.
