Advanced services

At Vets for Pets, we have invested considerably in our team and kit to make a number of advanced services available to our clients. We also accept referrals from other practices.

Laser therapy

Laser therapy is non-painful and involves directing infra-red radiation into inflamed or damaged tissues to accelerate the body’s natural healing process. It is often used for musculoskeletal issues such as arthritis, but the benefits of laser have been suggested for a range of conditions.

I am a veterinary surgeon and one of the partners here at Vets4Pets Kirkby in Ashfield. I will be the main vet here and look forward to meeting all of our pets. I qualified as a Veterinary surgeon in 2011 from Nottingham University. Previous to starting at Kirkby I worked at a local Vets4Pets surgery and a small animal practice in Chesterfield. I enjoy all aspects of first opinion small animal practice but I have a particular interest in diagnostic imaging and internal medicine. I am kept very busy at home with my little boy Grayson,  two dogs, Indie the Border Collie and Ivy my three legged Cocker Spaniel. I also have 3 cats, 2 horses, ducks, chickens and 2 rabbits. With my husband Matt I run Lime Grove Cattery in my back garden.

I qualified from Liverpool in 2002, and I’ve been in general practice ever since. I like to see a variety of cases from a variety of species, particularly reptiles and small mammals. I spent the first 19 years of my life in Kirkby, and I’m really happy to have the opportunity to come back and work with such a nice team. At home I have a geriatric cat called Florence, and Mabel and Hugo the snakes. I have also kept lots of ferrets over the years, but currently my three children are keeping me as busy as the ferrets used to! I love the great outdoors, and gaming or a good book when I have some free time.

I graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2017. After a brief stint in mixed practice, I joined Vets4Pets, first at Eastwood, then Somercotes and now Kirkby. I enjoy the variety that small animal practice brings, both consulting and operating, to keep your pets healthy. Outside of work I have a bit of a zoo of my own to look after; four cats, two dogs, two degus and two geckos, and one small toddler! I have had such an exciting veterinary career so far and I cannot wait to meet all your lovely pets.

I have worked with vets4pets for over 10 years and became a registered veterinary nurse in 2012, In my years with vets4pets I have learned a lot and taken up further qualifications in order to help improve my patient care skills. As well as being a veterinary nurse I am also a pet health care counsellor, a diabetes adviser and clinical coach (practical trainer and assessor of student veterinary nurses). The aspect of my job I find the most enjoyable are consults, as this allows me to help support and educate owners in preventative health care be it parasite control to behaviour concerns. This job allows me to learn something new and interesting everyday, which I have to admit I love being somewhat of a nerd.
