Meet the team
Dr Hayley Baker
Practice Owner & Veterinary Surgeon
MA VetMB GPCert (endo) MRCVS
Hi Everyone! I am Hayley the Practice Owner at Vets for Pets Bar Hill and Cambridge Beehive. I qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon in 2008 from the University of Cambridge. I then spent a few years in Ireland working in first opinion practice, gaining valuable experience in soft tissue surgery and emergency and critical care. I moved back to Cambridge in 2012 where I started working for Vets for Pets on Barnwell Road and took over as Practice Owner of both Vets for Pets Cambridge and Cambridge Beehive. Since then, I have gained a post-graduate qualification in endoscopy and endosurgery, of which there are only a handful of us across the country and now champion minimally invasive procedures, not only in our practice but across the entire Vets for Pets Business. For this reason, I was awarded a grant by Vets for Pets to include a state-of-the-art training facility in our new Bar Hill Practice, to help encourage uptake of, specifically, laparoscopic neutering.
At home I look after my two daughters Evie and Ysmay with my husband Rob, who is originally from Histon. I also spend any free time I have running and you will regularly find me running around the village during lunch time!
Jessica grew up in Hong Kong, but moved to the UK 18 years ago to pursue her dream of being a vet. She qualified from the university of Liverpool in 2012. She started her career as a mixed animal vet and became a small animal only vet when she joined Vets4pets Cambridge in 2018. Her special interest is learning anything new! She has a certificate in small animal surgery and is studying for an ophthalmology certificate currently. She has two mischievous rescue lurchers, enjoys CrossFit, travelling, completing daily quests on Duolingo and anything food-related.
Marios is a veterinary surgeon who qualified in Greece. He worked there for some time then came to the UK in 2019. His special interest lies in surgery where he is currently completing a certificate in soft tissue surgery and Orthopaedics. Marios also enjoys Endocrinology and Dermatology.
Outside of work he enjoys traveling and spending time with friends and family.
Megan graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2022 and joined Cambridge Vets for pets in the same year. Her interests are medicine cases but she generally enjoys all aspects of first opinion practice, especially getting to know all of our patients and clients! Outside of work Megan spends her time travelling, cooking, running, seeing friends and family and going on adventures with her cheeky corgi, Penny!
Kirsty qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2017 and enjoy all aspects of first opinion practice. She enjoys spending time with her pony, cat and her chickens as well as her daughter Ella who keeps her very busy.
Emma joined Vets for pets in 2012 and qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2017. Alongside her nursing qualification she also has a level 3 diploma in animal management. In 2018 Emma became a senior nurse. She enjoys all aspects of general nursing and anaesthesia. Emma also looks forward to meeting clients and their pets during nurse clinics. At home she is kept busy looking after her two daughters and three legged cat called Peggy.
Tori qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2005. Since qualifying she has spent her time working in both busy veterinary hospitals and teaching hospitals. Tori joined the Vets 4 Pets Cambridge team in February 2016. She has a particular interest in all aspects of surgical nursing and critical care and has subsequently gone on to complete the Vets Now Certificate for Veterinary Nursing in Emergency and Critical care. She loves interactions with the clients and their pets as well as supporting other team members.
Georgie started nursing in 2002, and joined the team in 2003, and has enjoyed everyday since. She has a passion for anaesthetics and a soft spot for Guinea pigs. Outside of work Georgie has a busy household with 5 children, dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and chickens. She loves spending time at the beach or walking in the forest.
I began my journey at vets for pets Cambridge in 2020 during the pandemic. I worked as a student during COVID-19 and have since graduated in 2023. I have special interests in felines and their wellbeing in practice as well as dentistry. Outside of work I love travelling, gymnastics and crafty hobbies such as crochet! I have two cats called Raja and Dora at home who came back with me from Malaysia.
I qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2023, having decided to re-train after home-schooling my youngest 3 children in the Covid-19 pandemic. I absolutely love veterinary nursing, and have a keen interest in diagnostic imaging and hospital nursing. I joined the Vets for Pets team in January 2022 as a degree student on placement, and am delighted to be working for them now that I am fully registered. I live just outside of Cambridge with my family and our dog and two cats. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my children, dog walking, and any craft involving yarn!
I joined the fabulous team here at Vets for Pets Cambridge in May 2019. I began as head receptionist and progressed to practice manager, where I oversee both our brand new Bar Hill practice, and our Cambridge Beehive practice as well. I love meeting all of our amazing clients and their beloved pets and helping in any way I can.
Outside of work I have five crazy cats and one pony, and love spending my time travelling and attending live music events.
I started working at Vets4Pets in April 2023. Previously I had my own florist shop. Growing up in the countryside of the Peak District and within the farming community we were always surrounded by animals and they were part of life. I stumbled into a role within a veterinary practice and haven’t looked back. It was for me a natural progression after leaving the floristry business I turned to the other passion in my life; animals. Previously I had a floristry company and worked in events so I work well under pressure. I have a Cardigan Corgi and a Rhodesian Ridgeback so I love dog breeds big and small.
