Johann, better known as Joe by his colleagues and clients, graduated from the University of Pretoria, South Africa, in 2004. He and his wife, Bonni, moved to the UK in 2006 after working in Cape Town for two years. Joe, Bonni and their two kids live with their extended pet family in Suffolk. Joe worked for a number of years in a practice in Suffolk before doing some veterinary locum work in Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire for a year. Joe took up partnership in 2012 in the Colchester Companion Care surgery and in 2013 opened up the Companion Care surgery in Martlesham, Ipswich, now Vets4Pets. Joe has a great interest in Orthopaedics and Oncology. He can perform some highly skilled and advanced orthopaedic procedures. Joe is a sport fanatic and loves to both watch and play sport as often as time allows which unfortunately is not as often as he would like to!

Bonni graduated from the University of Pretoria, South Africa, in 2004. After 7 years at university, she returned to her home turf in the Cape to work for a couple of years before making a permanent move to the UK in 2006 with her husband, Joe. Fast forward a few years and a couple of kids and pets later (including a three-legged rescue cat) and Bonni and her family have settled in the beautiful Suffolk countryside. After years of gaining experience as an assistant Veterinary Surgeon, Bonni took up partnership in the Colchester Companion Care surgery in 2012. More recently she has taken on partnership in the Ipswich Companion Care surgery alongside her husband, fellow Vet Surgeon. In her spare time, she loves to fulfill her other passion in life, art. She also enjoys the outdoors as long as the weather co-operates!

I graduated from the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, in 2008. After working for three years in Cluj, I decided to move to the UK where I spent time working in and around Manchester. In 2017 I moved to beautiful Suffolk, which is also the year I got married (quite an intense but unforgettable year!). The team at Companion Care made me feel at home from day one. Clinically, I am drawn to surgery and behaviour and hope to expand these skills in aid of all the lovely pets needing my help. My family at the moment consists of me, my husband Stuart and our two cheeky cats, Ray - short for Ray of Light Raymond (a true explorer!) and Thabile - Zulu for "happy", which she really is and she loves sharing it with us. They delight us with all matter of mischief and brighten up even the darkest days. I would like to expand our pet side of the family with a dog or two in the future. In my spare time I enjoy reading and Latin and Ballroom dancing, which I practice along with my husband. I love being outdoors -walking and cycling, and my experiences gliding and flying have inspired me to one day become a pilot!

Being born on an ostrich farm in South Africa and then growing up on a sheep farm in Australia set me firmly on the path to becoming a vet. I spent an exciting six years of study working with a wide variety of animals, from lions to bush babies to Irish Wolfhounds at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. I completed a year of Community Service working in disadvantaged communities in need of veterinary assistance. This time spent working in a sunny seaside town called George, in well-equipped NSPCA and PDSA practices, helped to focus my veterinary interest on companion animal healthcare. I applied for, and was offered, a post at Vets4Pets Ipswich Martlesham. Two of my sisters also live in England, which made my decision to move countries an even easier one. In my free time I enjoy trail running, hiking, riding and anything else that gets me into the great outdoors.

The first time I set foot in Vets4Pets (or as it was then Companion Care) was when I was 14 years old for work experience with the school. From that moment on, I knew that working in the veterinary industry was where I wanted to be. I then completed a National diploma in Animal Management at Writtle in which I was at the Colchester branch once a week. I then moved onto the Veterinary Nursing course and qualified in October 2012. When I was asked to come and work here in Martlesham I jumped at the opportunity, and I love every moment of it!

Growing up, my family always had a menagerie of animals, so I have been surrounded by animals for as long as I can remember. I completed studies in Animal Husbandry and Zoology in Australia before moving back to the UK and working for the RSPCA for ten years. Following this, I worked in a Spanish veterinary hospital for eight years. I have been with the Vets4Pets team since we opened as Companion Care and I am now a qualified Veterinary Nurse. At home I have a live-wire little Maltese cross Luna, who I enjoy taking for walks along the river. I also love to cook and read interesting articles to keep me up to date with all the latest vet nurse topics.

When I am not busy studying, I love to go for walks with Frank, my Boxer Labrador cross!

Hi my name is Steph. I have wanted to work with animals from a young age, so the apprenticeship I am undertaking at Vets4Pets alongside my vet nurse studies is really rewarding! At home, I have three rabbits called Rupert, Ronnie and Lola, as well as two cats called Muffin and Indie. When I am not studying, I enjoy spending time with my partner and socialising with friends.

Hello, I’m Millie. I have recently started my apprenticeship here at Vets4Pets as a veterinary nurse. Being a veterinary nurse has been a dream of mine since my Labrador Dudley became seriously ill, and the team here at Martlesham gave him a second life. I will forever be thankful for the opportunity to carry out my apprenticeship alongside these wonderful people. I enjoy every second I spend here at the practice. As well as my Labrador Dudley, I also have a Bichon Frise cross Miniature Poodle, and a Miniature Dachshund, who are always up for group cuddles when I have a free moment!

I started my career working with animals as a stud hand for the mares and foals at Newmarket. When the opportunity arose to work as an animal care assistant at Vets4Pets, I jumped at the chance. I now enjoy working with a range of animals, especially cats, and have two of my own at home called Tosca and Gizmo. Tosca has a strut that is worthy of the cat walk and Gizmo can be found curled up in the sunniest place in my house. In my free time I love to read and watch films, and spend sunny days with my family down at the beach hut!

At home, I have a cat called Toffee and two guinea pigs called Higgledy and Piggledy. In my free time I enjoy walking, exploring and getting creative – drawing people’s pets of course!

Before coming to companion care, I worked as a Business Administrator and Team Leader for a Healthcare Agency. I have always had a passion for animals, I have volunteered at various veterinary surgeries and also volunteered at a Greyhound Rescue Centre. When the opportunity arose for me to join the team here at Martlesham I jumped at the chance to do my dream job. I have a Jack Russell X Patterdale Terrier that I have had since a Puppy and a rescue Jack Russell Terrier which both keep me on my toes. In my spare time I like watching movies, listening to music but most importantly I love spending time with my 2 dogs- I enjoy teaching them new things and taking them for long walks. I recently went on a Caribbean cruise and have now discovered my adventurous side – roll on the next holiday!

I have worked in retail for many years (too many to mention!) and decided I wanted a change of direction. I jumped at the chance when the opportunity arose to work with the lovely team at Vets4Pets. I have had and array of animals over the years, but none at the moment as I am too busy with my new grandson. I would love a dog one day though. I enjoy the cuddles I get from our furry clients, which feeds my craving for now.
