Vets for Pets Leeds Birstall Hospital Extension
New services and facilities available
We are very excited that Vets for Pets Leeds Birstall Hospital has expanded, allowing us to further increase our services and care for the pets of West Yorkshire.
Our expansion enables us to increase our existing advanced-imaging, endoscopy, orthopaedic, soft-tissue, laparoscopy, dental and referral-level work whilst doubling the consulting capacity of our clinic. Allowing our clients increased availability and flexibility of appointments (including a health clinic, emergency, veterinary referral and specialist nurse clinic appointments).
As always, the practice will have team members on site 24/7 if your pet needs emergency care or to stay with us overnight.

Behavioural Referrals
Ultrasonography
Ultrasound scanning allows examination of and identifies changes in your pets' internal organs. It is commonly used to assess organs in the abdomen such at the bladder, kidneys and liver. It can also be used to assess the heart.
CT Scanning
Computed tomography (CT) scans provide us with detailed images of bones, organs and blood vessels.
We may recommend a CT scan included if your pet has an orthopaedic disease, neurological disease, or if we need to look at the chest of abdomen.
Your pet will need to be anaesthetised for this procedure as they need to be completely still during the examination.
Dentistry
A range of specialist equipment including dental x-rays in our purpose-built dental suite.
Medicine Referrals
Endoscopy
A wide range of rigid and flexible endoscopes to aid in minimally invasive diagnostics and procedures.
Laparoscopy suite
Laparoscopy is a minimally invasive surgical technique to explore the abdomen with two to three small ‘keyhole’ incisions. A camera is introduced as well as fine instruments allowing a range of procedures to be performed.
In human medicine ‘keyhole’ surgery or laparoscopy has been used for many years given its reduced surgical trauma and quicker recovery times compared to traditional 'open' surgery. In veterinary medicine the same advantages are seen.
Orthopaedics
Orthopaedics is the field of medicine and surgery that treats injury and disease of the musculoskeletal system, which includes the bones, joints,
ligaments, muscles and tendons of the body.
Orthopaedic surgery is commonly used for fracture repairs in cats and dogs.
Soft Tissue Surgery (including BOAS)
Soft tissue surgery is a varied discipline and includes surgical procedures that do not fall under the remit of orthopaedic surgery.
Soft tissue surgery is surgery for pets when operating on parts of the body other than the nervous or musculoskeletal system.
24hr patient & emergency care
We're never closed and have team members on site 24/7 if your pet needs emergency care or to stay with us overnight.
