Kerry joined us as our Head Nurse in 2016 and has been nursing for 22 years. She is now our Owner and Head Nurse! She has 2 boys called Max and Eli, and a little girl called Ava. She has 2 dogs called Oscar and George, and two rescue animals that came in as strays to our practice,  – a cat called Terry and an axolotl called Axle! She also has 3 guinea-pigs called Alfred, Winston and Walter. In Kerry's spare time (!) she does voluntary work on farms, and goes clay Pigeon shooting. Her biggest weakness is German Shepherds, she loves them! Kerry has a certificate in ‘Wound Management’, and a keen interest in Emergency and Critical Care.

Liz has over 30 years’ experience, she has worked in small animal practices in the UK, Hong Kong and Australia after qualifying at Bristol University. She has a Certificate in Small Animal Surgery, and has a keen interest in challenging surgical cases. Liz enjoys going rock climbing, running marathons and is a qualified Scuba Diving Instructor. Liz has a little girl called Izzi, and 2 rescue cats called Fred and Ginger.

Alex graduated from The University of Nottingham and joined us in 2016. Alex became our Lead vet in March 2024. She has a cheeky Sprocker called Bertie and a very naughty cat called Billy who came in to us as a stray in 2017. She has a special interest in Dentistry and does many Laparoscopic procedures at the practice.

In her spare time Alex enjoys riding her horse, Rose and going out for dinner.

Ally graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2014 and started at Mapperley Vets for Pets at the beginning of 2023. She has a special interest in diagnostic imaging. She has a little black cat called Esmeralda who is obviously the cutest and bestest cat ever; but there are some close seconds she meets day to day. Ally enjoys pottery, climbing and trying a new activity.

Kara graduated as a veterinary surgeon from the University of Nottingham in 2018, and joined the practice here in October 2023. She has a keen interest in exotic medicine and surgery, and is now qualified GPCert qualification exotic animal practice. As well as this she also enjoys non-routine surgery and feline behavioural medicine. In her spare time Kara looks after her 'zoo' at home - consisting of a Bernese Mountain dog called Brian, 3 cats called Cosmo, Irwin and Shrimp, a panther chameleon called Harry and a crested gecko called Sprout. When not looking after the zoo, she enjoys travelling, live music and pole fitness.

Kate graduated from the University of Nottingham and joined Mapperley Vets for Pets in September 2024. Kate has an interest in surgery and at home she has two cats, Masie and Maui.

Before retraining as a Vet, Kate studied music at the Royal College of Music in London and in her free time still plays with several local music groups.

Kate is also a keen runner having completed several half marathons and will be running in the London Marathon next year on behalf of the WWF of which she is a long time supporter

James joined us in September 2025 and has taken over the role of Practice Manager from Kerry. James has a background in Private Security Management/Dog handler working both in the UK and Overseas. James later worked within the NHS Management Team.

James loves his animals that he shares with the family but has just had his way and got a German Shepherd puppy called Sid. He is not that small anymore.

Keyhole surgery

Laparoscopic surgery involves making two to three small incisions, which allows the veterinary surgeon to introduce a camera and some fine instruments. These allow the surgeon to perform a range of procedures.
