Practice Owner & Veterinary Surgeon

I qualified in Veterinary Medicine in 2004 from the University of Bristol. After a year in mixed practice I moved into solely small animal work including an internship at the University of Liverpool in 2001 and opened Vets4Pets Barnstaple in November 2018. I love all aspects of my job but have a particular interest and specialisation in soft tissue surgery having gained both a General practitioners certificate (GPCert(SAS)) in 2009 and an RCVS certificate (CertAVP) in 2015. Despite these post-graduate qualifications I still have a strong interest in medicine and love the variety of clinical cases and animals that we see. My favourite part of our job is getting to meet clients and their pets and form an ongoing relationship with them over time seeing their pets grow and helping to keep them well. I am married to my husband Ian who is also a vet and we have a 4 year old son Oscar and 1 year old baby girl Beatrice. We share our home with our three dogs, three chickens, two guinea pigs and a horse so life is busy!

I qualified in 2009 from the University of Bristol, and worked as a small animal vet in the New Forest for a few years before moving back to a busy small animal practice near Bristol. My boyfriend Chris and I dreamed of having a smallholding and in 2019 managed to buy some land, so we’ve moved down to live the Devon dream! I joined Vets4pets Barnstaple at the end of October 2019.

I enjoy everything about my job as a vet, but have particular interests in Pain Management and Animal Behaviour. I’m pleased to be able to offer acupuncture to pets under my care, and love working with owners whose pets are stressed or nervous to make their vets visits more comfortable.

Outside of work I look forward to accumulating lots of lovely animals! I enjoy horse-riding and climbing with Chris, and am a rugby fan (and ex-player).

Veterinary Nurse

I qualified in 2014 from the Royal Veterinary College with a Foundation degree in Veterinary Nursing. I was born and raised in Barnstaple so I knew I would always be working locally – who could leave the area?!

Previously I have worked in a Small animal Veterinary Hospital so I have experience in all aspects of fist opinion nursing, including night shifts and emergency cover. My interests include Wound management and Pharmacology – if I’m not bandaging something I will be in the Pharmacy! Outside of work I will nearly always be with my friends and family, walking my dog or chilling out at home

Charlotte Cornwall

Veterinary Care Assistant

Read Charlotte Cornwall bio

I started working in veterinary practice in 2017 as a receptionist. Having completed a couple of years on the client care side of things I’m excited to progress with my career. I now have the opportunity to also start working with the patients that come to visit us, as a Veterinary Care Assistant here at Barnstaple Vets4pets. I then hope to go on to train as a Veterinary Nurse. At home I have 3 Weimaraners called Joules, Toby & Ella, and a horse called Ruby. I spend most of my spare time with my horse and enjoy walking the dogs with my husband Scott.

Lauren Corbett

Veterinary nurse

Lauren studied at the university of Plymouth and gained her Veterinary Nursing degree in 2011. She then went to work in a large mixed animal practice followed by a small animal practice in her home town of Penzance in South West Cornwall.

Lauren enjoys all aspects of nursing, but really enjoys bandaging and wound care, and has a special passion for teaching; she has been training students within practice for many years as well as teaching in a College.

Lauren is a country girl having spent her whole life living on the family farm, with her various animals, including her most treasured possession her horse Star.

Hello, my name is Philippa and I am the new Client Care Coordinator. I have always loved working with people and have an extensive background in customer service and supporting vulnerable people. However, I have always dreamed of working with animals and I am so happy to have the opportunity to do so in such a friendly and professional practice. Although I don’t have my own pets currently, I take every opportunity to cuddle and play with my family’s pets including two cheeky Chihuahua’s and a Saarloos Wolfdog puppy.

My name is Tracy, I am our Client Care Advisor. I have recently moved to North Devon from Kent with my husband and two children. I have been visiting my parents in Braunton for the last 25 years and have always planned on moving here when the children had left Secondary School.
I have always had a dog and have been involved with horses and animals, one way or another. My current pooch is called Milo and he is a Shih tzu x Poodle. Prior to Milo we had Percy who was a Basset Hound.

Claire Saltearn

Hello! I am Claire one of the Client Care Advisors. I am passionate about animal care and am thrilled to be working in such a welcoming establishment with this at the heart. My background involves biology, animal behaviour and care as well as administration and customer care. I feel very fulfilled in my role, being able to support clients and their pets through what can be a worrying time for them both.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my Husband, two young children and cat cuddles.  My current feline friend is a 13yr old rescue cat called Murphy. I have grown up with cat's and can't see there being much time without one by my side. I have also had a Syrian Hamster, as well as assisting with lambing and care of various other small animals.

Vets4Pets Barnstaple is committed to bringing you affordable, high quality care via a modern, well equipped practice, including a lab, pharmacy, digital x-ray and ultrasound. Plus, on site car parking too!
