Lesley Buchan

Veterinary Surgeon

Read Lesley Buchan bio

I'm Lesley Buchan, the singing vet! I had two offers when I left school in Dunblane - study music at the Scottish conservatoire or become a vet. Guess which choice I made? After qualifying from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh I worked in mainly large animal practice in Cumbria for 12 years. I really enjoyed the farm work and was in demand for my lambing skills. However, I wanted to gain more experience working with small animals. A move to the lovely city of York allowed me to take over my own practice which I ran successfully for 10 years building a large and very loyal customer base. It was great to follow the progress of the families as they grew with their various children and pets. I have always tried to balance modern advances in veterinary medicine with a high level of personal caring. Whilst there I began to study for my certificate in dermatology, which I gained in 2012. I see many animals with skin conditions which are distressing so it is great to be able to provide expertise and latest medical techniques to help their suffering. Although York is a beautiful city I missed the hills of Perthshire where I grew up so I made the move and was delighted with the opportunity to establish a new surgery in Perth. And of course there is still plenty time in my life for singing, playing cello and I hope to set up a karate club locally after achieving my black belt in 2011! I have grown up sons: Thomas studying music in London and Matthew who is keen to follow a career in drama. At home my constant companion is Lily, a rescue lurcher with the face of a meerkat, who races me up Craigrossie and potters about in the garden with my three chickens. I look forward to seeing you and your special companions in Perth.

Philippa enjoys the challenges and rewards of surgery, paying particular attention to improving techniques in companion animal neutering in cats, dogs and rabbits. She has exploited her interest in this area by contributing to organisations engaged in neutering programmes in the UK and overseas. She has a strong interest in cytology and the important role it plays in diagnosis and treatment options On a professional side, she takes particular interest in strengthening and fostering good client relations, and in her different employments has paid particular attention to building the professional and technical capacity of newly qualified vets experiencing the early years in companion animal practice. Away from work, Philippa has three grown up boys, currently studying and competing in different sports. On the sporting front she is a regular tennis and badminton player, and enjoys swimming, walking, horse riding, reading, music, blackface sheep breeding and travel.

Read Pauline Milligan bio

Hello, my name is Pauline. I started working for Vets4Pets in March 2018. I had previously worked in the catering industry and it may seem like a big change but our vet practice here in Perth has become a fast paced and busy operation just like where I was before. Working in the front line is very important. We get to know all the furry patients as well as their mummies and daddies. Unfortunately, my beautiful Labrador, Millie,, passed away and it has taken me a while to recover from losing her…but…I am very excited to say that we are having a new addition to our family very soon who is a Lhasa Apso called Ted.

Beth Fisher

I have only recently joined the team in July 2018 but feel so at home and love all of my amazing colleagues! I qualified as a Veterinary Care Assistant in 2018 and am currently studying in Edinburgh to become a Registered Veterinary Nurse, this is the career I have dreamed of since I was little! I have a passion for anatomy and love my exotics - I owned over 40 stick insects when I was younger! Saying this I am definitely a dog person and live in Glasgow with my little Lhasa Apso, Teddy. I have a soft spot for Labrador Retrievers and any puppy brought into the practice will get massively fussed over!
