Sophie Riley
Head Veterinary Nurse
RVN

I qualified as an RVN, with an FdSc Degree in Veterinary Nursing, from Nottingham Trent University, in November 2011. I worked as an RVN at another Vets4pets and some time later decided to work at a large referral hospital. Here I worked as a Neurology and physio/ hydrotherapy Nurse, I carried out extra training in physio and hydrotherapy and I still have a keen interest in physiotherapy and rehabilitation nursing.
I started at Worksop Vets4Pets, as Head Veterinary Nurse in March 2014. Since starting here I have gained many additional qualifications and training including leadership, medicine nursing, nutrition, pet bereavement and clinical coach. Over the years the team has grown, each person bringing new skills with them. We all provide excellent care, making sure the animals come first, this is one of the many reasons I enjoy working here.
In my spare time, I enjoy walking and horse riding.

What is your favourite animal and why?
All sea creatures, because I love the ocean.
What pets do you have and what are their names?
3 cats - Bailey, Leo and Jeff and a guinea pig called Stevie G
What's the best pet name you've ever come across?
Mr Bojangles for a long-haired cat
What's your favourite famous animal?
Dory from Finding Nemo
What's the best aspect of working for Vets4Pets?
The closeness of our team at Worksop, we're like a little family!

I have been with Vet Group for over 12 years. Starting as a colleague in Pets At Home and then working my way up in a different Vets 4 Pets practice. I started as a receptionist, then became a nursing assistant and then a student. I took a year out in 2015 to have my little boy Max before qualifying in 2016. I currently have 3 cats at home Enzo, Arnie and Dory; all 3 I hand reared. I am a little cat crazy so there is always room for more! I enjoy all surgical nursing and my interests in nursing clinics is Diabetes and Gastrointestinal. I also enjoy a good kitten and puppy cuddle, seeing them on a regular basic, watching them grow and building up that client bond is really important
In my spare time I enjoy running, cooking, holidays away in our caravan and spending quality family time with my son and partner.
