Meet the team

Hi, I’m Elli one of the vets. I graduated from The University of Liverpool in 2022 and have worked in small animal practice since. I enjoy the variety being a GP vet brings. Outside of work I enjoy taking my dog Harley for walks exploring the north east. I also have 3 cats; Halle, Spider and Daz.

I have always loved animals, I started bringing strays home as a little girl and by the age of twelve I knew I would become a vet. I got my degree in Spain and after working there for a short period I came to the UK in 2001. I have worked a small animal vet in different practices in the North East, meeting some amazing animals and humans through the years. I love my job but outside of work I love long walks with my hubby and my three naughty yorkies and spending time at home trying all kind of crafts. My two cats also keep me amused.

Hi I'm Colleen, I'm the senior veterinary nurse and one of the practice owners.
I first started working the veterinary industry in 2006, when I worked as a receptionist. I then joined Vets for Pets in 2014 when I began my degree in veterinary nursing.
I joined the lovely team at Bishop Auckland in 2021, and became JVP at the start of 2025. I'm so lucky that I get to work with the most amazing team and really enjoy meeting all of our lovely patients and clients.
I enjoy all aspects of nursing, but I have particular interests in medical nursing and wound management.
Outside of work I am kept busy looking after my own animals and enjoy visiting the Lake District with my husband.

Hello! I'm Caitlin and I'm so happy to have joined the lovely team here at Vets for Pets Bishop Auckland.
I began my journey nearly 10 years ago, and achieved my dream of qualifying as a veterinary nurse in 2016.
I love spending time with friends, reading and listening to live music.
I live at home with my husband, daughter and ginger cat Hallie. We also enjoy spending time with our family dog, Angus.

Hi my name is Rachel. I have always loved animals and was always the kid with lots of pets! I particularly have a passion for rabbits and guinea pigs. In my spare time you’ll find me enjoying a nice long walk with my dogs.

Hi, I'm Niamh and I have always wanted to work within the veterinary industry. I started by getting an Extended Diploma in Animal Management in 2018 and went onto graduate from Harper Adams University in 2022 with BSc (hons) in Veterinary Nursing. Shortly after, I registered as an RVN and joined the team here at Bishop Auckland Vets for Pets. In my spare time, I enjoy scenic walks and reading.
My dog is a large crossbreed named Brontë who has an even larger character! Since moving to the North East, she has enjoyed frequent trips to the beaches followed by a snore on the sofa.

Hi there, my name is Becky. After gaining a national diploma in Animal management, I have worked with a wide variety of animals and pets for several years now. Over the years I've had lots of pets including reptiles, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice, gerbils, and fish. I'm also passionate about helping wildlife anyway I can. I currently share my home with my husband, our house rabbit Baxter, and our Bichon frise Ozzy. I enjoy welcoming clients and their pets into the practice, and seeing all that goes on to keep your pets happy and healthy. In my free time I am often found gardening, spending time with my fur babies, or enjoying a good book or film.

Hello I'm Lucia, I'm currently a student vet nurse at Bishop Auckland Vets for Pets. I have loved becoming part of the team here as everyone is so supportive and kind.
I have always had an interest in animal welfare which lead me to start volunteering in various rescue centres. A big part of that is the foster work that I do.
I look forward to becoming a qualified veterinary nurse in the near future.

Hi. My name is Rebecca (Becs) and I am the newest member of the client care team here at Vets for Pets in Bishop Auckland. Having grown up on a farm I have an interest in all animals great and small and currently keep a menagerie including cows, sheep, two horses and two Llamas! My greatest passion however is for my two dogs. I love spending time with Alice our big, boisterous Newfoundland X and Scout, our gentle smooth Collie who is very good at agility.
I thoroughly enjoy working on reception, especially meeting all the fur babies that come through the door. I am here to advise and assist you in any way I can and hope to make your experience at the vets as stress free as possible.

My name is Debra Astbury and I joined Vets for Pets in September 2016. I have worked on reception in vet practices since April 2001. I enjoy working with pets and people and love hearing stories about how you got your pet, what your pets favourite toys/food/games are, what problems you have had with your pet, how those problems were solved. I am fascinated by how animals socialise with each other and socialise with us. I am fairly good at remembering faces but hopeless at remembering names, although I often remember the pets' name. I live in a village and know many of the dogs' names but cannot remember many of the owners' names! I have a cat called Trio, 1 boxer dog called Stanley, and a husband too and I love them all very much. I could tell you so many stories about the cats we have had and Stan but will look forward to chatting to you in person and hearing your stories and funny moments. Hope to see you soon.
